I'm not going to lie, I got introduced to PTSD when playing this game. Eviction was by far dark, and the atmosphere just felt like you were in the game itself, fighting with the soviet and pushing through Berlin.
This, Eviction had literal apocaliptic vibes to it. The combination of rain and thunder, the utter chaos, the bloodshed and explosions and intense street firefights in Berlin accompanied by the sound of Dies Irae by Mozart then the grizzly killer industrial metal guitar that follows once you get outside on the streets and start mowing down the germans. Everything played like a gigantic dark, apocaliptic ensemble from hell. No wonder people love this game. I'll always love the little quote from Chernov's diary at the end of the game about Dimitri. There's 3 moments where you can kill people who were already dying/surrendering and the quote changes depending on how many times you kill them. If you kill people all 3 times, the diary mentions that Dimitri is nothing more than a savage, no better than the rest and that he's no hero at all. If you kill people only once or twice, he mentions that he's seen Dimitri give both mercy at times and complete brutality in others and that he doesn't quite understand you, but also mentions that maybe heroes don't really question their actions. If you spare people all 3 times, he mentions Dimitri's bravely is beyond question, that he shows mercy amidst the brutality of the Red Army and that Dimitri is indeed a hero.

I feel as though you are immersed in the exact feelings of the protagonists, at least for me. When I got to Blowtorch and Corkscrew I found myself bored of the American campaign. Tired of fighting the Japanese and wanted to return to the Eastern Front. I was exasperated by the bloodlust within the battle of Berlin and felt so close to victory.
