Omg I completely agreeeee! This show should be so much bigger. AMC gave us Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, etc. I truly don’t understand the disconnect.

I really think AMC banked on Mayfair Witches being the mainstream breakout show in this universe. That 1st season was heavily promoted and released in multiple countries early. It just didn’t perform well. How do you have a character like Lasher and still suck? Their leads for Rowan & Lasher were a miss cast. Also, the show runner didn’t seem very familiar with the source material. How do you leave do you combine 2 important characters together? I did like Crispin(sp), but you needed the other 2.
Interview with The Vampire had so much negative press from casting choices to the timeline changes. The bigots were loud online. Meanwhile, we got Jacob and Sam as out leads. Everyone involved with the show kicked ass from cast to crew. Some of them already knew the source material, and the rest became familiar with it and studied it.
The proof is the pudding. Now, the network has to play catch up with promotion.

Armand was so helpless, ya'll. Totally. Totally helpless. He couldn't do anything to save Claudia. He was stuck in that box. He probably tried to climb out at some point, but his pants got stuck on the gate. I'm sure he really tried his best, but there was nothing he could do. It's not like he's a 500+ year old, insanely powerful vampire or anything. 🙄
That makes sense. He probably tried to get out but he tripped on his shoelaces, felt embarrassed and just sat back down. 🙄😂

Baby Sam Reid was looking so damn good in that black suit. Whew!!!! Sam Reid was eating this episode. The way him and Jacob were looking at each other even when they weren’t looking at each other. I felt EVERYTHING!!
All of the acting was top-tier!!!! This is an Emmy winning show hands down!!!
Armand played a much bigger role in this. He also used this to get his lick back at Lestat. We know Armand knew this and could’ve stopped this.
Except that Lestat started cheating with Antoinette LONG before Claudia came into the picture. Just goes to show even Lestat's narrative is suspect. Plus, let's not forget that Lestat is an accomplished actor.

In Lestat's retelling of what happened during the trial, Armand had Lestat captured, and they basically starved him and beat him until he agreed to go along with the trial.
He does look kind of sick during the whole thing and has a little stubble going on. Since when does Lestat allow himself to have stubble? The guy is always impeccably groomed.
Just my take.
Every time you bring up the lady in the fire, I crack up with you. I don’t even remember that, it still makes me laugh. 😂😂
It was the end of the first episode of the season! I was so appalled that she was so pretty in her old age. It's not even supposed to be funny, but I'm laughing as I type this! 😂

In his own very twisted way Lestat loved Claudia! He made her and took full responsibility for it in front of the coven. Lestat was just as much Claudia father as Louis if not more. Claudia was the vampire that Lestat wished Louis would be. She loved the hunt just as much as Lestat. In all honesty had Claudia been at least say 16 and presented as a woman, Lestat may have left Louis for Claudia's companionship. The writers of the show said Lestat will always feel guilty for Claudia's death and will come back to it.

I think that Lestat is forces to testify and read from the script. However(!) when he goes off script (which nobody wants as is shown) and gets emotional, I believe, he is 100% sincere. So it's like 50/50 with what he's saying.
It's the fact that you only got though 1 & 1/2 words of the song before you started cutting up, ma'am! Tell me why I thought that was the beginning of "Is My Living In Vain?" 🙃🙃🙃
Claudia being defiant to the end and realizing that Madeline chose and put her first in the face of certain death? Something that no one, not even Louis, did for her in her entire existence? Whew! 😭😭😭
I'm so glad she had Madeline, even just for a short while. That Weird Whyte Woman really proved she was The One at the end; a "regular" whyte woman would've jumped ship with the quickness, but not Madeline stayed on business 😂😭!!

Lestat's version of how he ended up making Claudia and the fight between him and Louis...what the actual fiddle sticks💀💀 They literally re-traumatised me. I can't get a maniacle Louis out of my head now. The Theatre coven is so screwed🤞

You know, I'll tell you one big problem preventing this show from becoming a bigger hit - that it's not simulcast around the world at the same time for everybody. Here in the UK, the first season dropped on BBC months and months after the season aired in the US. Releasing things around the world at the same time increases conversation across the internet, increasing a show's hype. For non-US fans to be part of that conversation while it's airing, first, they have to know it's back (I didn't find out until 3-4 eps had already aired), and then they have to pirate it week to week. And then when it finally does drop on UK streaming, it seems like the show isn't as popular as it should be, because fans will have already pirated it and won't get counted in the viewing numbers. And whatever hype there *was* will have already died down and nobody will be talking about it anymore.
Shows like Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul aired on AMC in the US, but were "simulcast" on Netflix in the UK (show aired on AMC US at 9pm ET - 2am UK time - then the episode dropped 5 hours later at 7am Monday morning on Netflix in the UK). HBO shows like House of the Dragon have a "true" UK simulcast, where it airs live on Sky TV and drops on streaming here at 2am UK time, which is the same time it airs in the US at 9pm ET.
Prestige shows *need* worldwide simultaneous (within 24 hours) release dates these days, or else they don't reach their potential. I think that's a big factor here. Prestige shows that are simulcast around the world - no matter what country or channel they're created for or broadcast on - do better than shows that have a delayed international release. That's why the BBC started dropping Doctor Who around the world at midnight UK time this season. It works.

It's starting to look like Louis has the "Fire Gift" which will come in handy against the coven.
I started to put that together around the third or fourth episode. The combination of Daniel getting the news article about the Theatre de Vampire burning down from the Talamasca, and Louis showing that he was developing the fire gift. I have been anticipating a rage fueled fire reigning down on the Theatre de Vampire at the hands of Louis.
the way i'm so mad i have to wait a whole week until the last episode 😩i'm a book fan so i've always known what was coming, but how we got there has, in many ways, been so different and i need to know what's going on lol
Cousin, this episode ate all the food at the repast. Sam was magnificent! Had me teary eyed for such a narcissist character. You felt his loneliness and pain even if I thought he wasn't entirely truthful in his account. Rule one of the show, don't trust any of the narrators. Also, they way Sam looked? My god, just so delicious.
I don't trust Armand AT ALL. He is SUSPECT. He could only save Louis? Sir, how hard did you try?
I loved Claudia's defiance to the end. What a G but honestly, if she hadn't written fifty leven journals, including some in blood, there wouldn't have been quite so much evidence against her.

When I tell you, both Claudia and Madeline needed to have started their own defense with, "all my life I had to fight..." because why is it everyone around them is straight trippin', murdering people, kidnapping people, making vampires without asking, but they get the fish fry treatment???? Shoot, the show IS that good! I remember someone saying, and I agreed, there were points where we thought OMG, they're going to kill Louis,even though we read the books, we've seen the movie, and not even remembering he's the one telling the story because you're just so wrapped up in that acting, it makes you forget. I am SO glad there is a season 3. AMC needs to start showing re-runs to get folk caught up and hit that advertising train big time.

I disagree with everyone about Lestat. I agree he looked better than ever. That's a gimme. But, no, I don't believe he is completely honest. He had just as much reason to shade the truth as Louis, but somehow everyone always gives Lestat the benefit of the doubt. Even Daniel said "Oh, yeah, I'm sure his version was completely impartial" or something like that. Louis has been coached/brainwashed by Armand but Lestat of course wanted to make himself the victim so that his actions didn't seem so bad after all. Never mind that Lestat started cheating on Louis right in his face in their own home with a worker at his club. No, he was just the victim. I don't believe that Louis hunted him down. That's ridiculous. Also, if Louis was so terrible and frigid, why come back? Why not just go on with your side piece and leave them alone? I also don't believe that Louis was laughing maniacally and saying all that crap during the fight scene. I believe the real truth is somewhere in between. They were both frustrated and heated, but Lestat was much angrier than Louis because Louis was leaving, Louis had an out. I believe Lestat's version of Claudia's turning, although somehow I doubt Lestat said all that stuff about "the rules." He never cared about rules. But Louis himself remembers that Lestat's version was correct. I felt ashamed of Lestat because, in the end, Louis showed mercy and Lestat didn't. Louis tried to call it off but it was too late. And only because of Louis' mercy was Lestat even able to show up and condemn them. All the vampires men are a mess. Only Claudia found true love.
He did care about making a child a vamp. That is canon.
Yes!!!! I totally agree with everything you said!!!! As soon as Lestat said Louis hunted him and called out to him I said "Oh hell naw!!! We lying right out the gate!!!" Like Louis somehow knew he was a vampire and could read minds!!!!
He pissed me off with the "I told him about the no child vampire rule" BS. Nope! Don't believe it at all!!! I appreciate him taking accountability for literally breaking Louis. But that's about it!

The script about Louis being the one pursuing Lestat was meant to make Louis look threatening since he's been accused of murder. What was a script and what was Lestat going off script was soooooo obvious.

That's a great point! If you cut cable, and don't have the AMC+ subscription, you wouldn't catch it. And on top of the abysmal promotion they did for the season, that makes so much sense!

Hilarious commentary as always! But I’m surprised you didn’t touch on Louis’ behavior in the Louis/Lestat’s fight scene😭. Like, we know that’s probably an exaggerated version of Louis since it’s filtered through Lestat & Armand’s PoV, but WHEW, Jacob Anderson knocked it out of the park! His drawn out raspy “…and I’m gon’ LAAaaaaagh!!” had me flashback to that one petty uncle getting into a loud argument at every family reunion 😂! That was PEAK Black Southern Pettiness!

Love your commentary & reviews! I have to correct you on 1 thing though, Louis didn’t say Lestat’s entire account of events was how it actually happened. He was specifically referring to Lestat’s version of Claudia’s turning. In my opinion the only event recounted that I think we’re supposed to take as fact is Claudia’s turning and the 1x05 fight, and really his version of the fight doesn’t really change anything it just adds more context to the parts we didn’t see. Also it pretty clear that Lestat constantly going ‘off script’ was meant to show that they were somehow forcing him to do this and being made to portray Claudia & Louis as the sole aggressors. Honestly The whole trial reeked of anti blackness and I definitely feel like that was intentional by the writers.
I think it was really important for them to revisit what was only in the captions is season 1 - Lestat trying desperately to de-escalate. He's not absolved. But now we know what the straw was that broke the camel's back.
Cuzn I thought you would have had the 2nd line ready for Claudia...the pain u describe was correct I had a severe car crash and had road rash and the clean the wound the same way and yes that feeling describes his look perfectly

Oh and I believe louis, lestat and Armond are all going to wipe the coven clean out!!! All three want them gone for their own reasons.
You know why! People complain about them being gay as if gay people aren't gay people in the world. They are missing out on this show due to homophobia. I don't think Louie was stalking Lestat. That doesn't even seem like his personality. Also, we knew Lestat didn't want to turn to Claudia. We don't know if that happened because Armand and Loui are telling the story of what Lestat supposedly said in the trial. I don't believe it. I keep editing but Lestat was looking uncomfortable because I truly believe he was being controlled in some way

In my personal opinion, the reason the show isn't a smash hit is, unfortunately, due to the bigots and racists drowning out the positive noise of the show. In 2024 some people are still not comfortable seeing 2 men as romantic leads. Also, some of the die-hard book/movie fans can be their own worst enemies. They want an adaptation that's verbatim to the source material. They also nitpick things to death, there is no room for nuisance. Oh and don’t get me started on it, if you say you like or dislike a character they act like you committed a crime.
I read that Interview with the Vampire is coming to Netflix soon, hopefully with more eyes on the show. It will get the attention it deserves. The show is so good, everybody deserves an award! From the creators, producers, cast, crew, costume, and set design. Hell, even catering deserves a little something too.
Everyone is wondering why Lestat came to Paris if not to kill Louis and Claudia, I don't think that's the case. When he was contacted by the coven and told of their plans, he knew only he would or could save them. So he went to Paris. I don't think he had the strength to control the entire audience for the length of the play - or even for the length of the sentencing, but he had enough to provide the twist ending. His reticence during rehearsals and his going off script so often during the play itself - he didn't want to be there, but knew he had to if there was going to be any chance of saving at least Louis.

The first part about how "Louis pursued Lestat" was a script written by the coven - they were making him tell a story to make Louis look threatening. But Lestat kept going on script, frustrating Santiago.

That extra part that we didn't get to see in the first season with that fight between him and Louis was everything. I didn't think Louis was that batshit crazy because that crazy laugh and that look he gave Lestat when he said he was gonna cut his head off and feed it to the lion at the zoo😮. It was another great episode! But I just don't believe Armand's story of how Claudia died. She hated being Baby Lu and singing that song. She was happily scraping gum and polishing furniture , rather than doing that Baby Lu show, so why would she go out singing that song? The math is not adding up.
Maybe it was a big ole F U to the coven, so that they know they didn't break her despite of how they treated her.
Also for the habitual patrons: how they loved Baby Lu and just turned on her so easily.

Claudia actually met with Armand privately and told him she would leave Louis if Armand could help her be a woman, they decided to try surgery where Armand would take her head off and within seconds he’d place her head on anther female vampire, believing it would adhere due to her having strong vampire blood from Lestat, I think that he used one of the theatre vampires against her will. So Armand does the surgery but Claudia, being a child, her head couldn’t fully attach to the body and she was in so much pain and anguish, still alive, partially attached, so Armand took her body and put her with Madeline and left them both to die when the sun light hit them.
Plus he kinda tricked Lestat into coming to testify against Claudia becuase he was still messed up from what happened to him and he promised Lestat some of his blood, then he bailed and didn’t hold up his end of the bargain.
