So are accounts payable only delayed payments to suppliers or does it include immediate ones to?
Any payments that you don’t make right while purchasing something are recorded as A/c payables. No matter if you them after a week or day or month or months. For that duration, they reflect as A/c paybles only in the books of accounts and they reflect in balance sheet of company. Once you pay them off, both liability and Cash go down with the same amount

Account receivable is better because you receiving money. Account payable means you have to pay.
