- another old video of UST Singers singing "Pokpok Alimpako" I think this piece is depicting a traditional Filipino childrens game/play "laro". . . I think this is composed for NAMCYA to be a contest piece. . . please leave comments

This song reminds me of my childhood as a Maranao. We usually sing this song when we are having a hand game, a game in which we stack our fists, building an imaginary staircase to the moon and stars.
Thank you UST singers and to the one one who posted this video. ❤️
my choir's in the process of learning this song. it's extremely difficult.
I like how they sounded like children on this piece... been watching this for a week now
This was the first rendition ive ever heard. And this is the only version im going to listen to.
i had to learn this for NJ all state chorus and LET ME TELL YOU it's a freaking hard song. this is the best version i have ever heard of it! :D
I tried watching all those choirs singing this piece. UST Singers is the best.
25 years on I still remember their performance. Armida, Marcia, Jingbee, Melanie, Janette, Richard, Joven, Joel, etc. Indeed the best batch of UST Singers.
Kasama ka diyan?
Ay shet malapit ka na mamatay tita
I used to play this children song-play with my peers when i was a child...POKPOK A LIMPAKO MALALAGOY SI DALI DAON SI POLO POLO BKAR KA SA ISA AN MASASAAAA.POLO....SUPERB RENDITION!
Absolutely phenomenal performance: the sounds, textures, and musicality of this choir and piece is amazing.
Probably the best version.
thesavvyfilipino true this is superb we tried our very best to perform this song but really not to this level
Nica Eleazar Not even the current batch of UST singers could perfom this better than this batch.
we're singing this for our competition piece! this is a really amazing performance by the way!
Rest in piece dahil sa sakit mo..
great song, great arrangement, great performance!
fantastic. I sang this song a few years ago in a choir and it was a lot of fun. These guys blow it out of the water.
the laughter gets me every time.
i love the rendition.. wow.. nkkrelax..enjoyable sya..
the best!!!! this is really old.. nandito pa si myleen eh. galing!!!! go prof. fidel! go ust singers :)
Ang gagaling talaga ng mga taga UST
Proud maranao here !!!
The voice style/sound gives me ASEAN vibes, Vietnam/Thailand? Though it is a Maranao Folk song
Mgiging member sna aq! gling nyo!!!

BRAVO UST...ANG GALING NIYO TALAGA
ay dipuga! haha...nice! love it!
so great! very standing ovation! am so proud
Im a fan of Madz but particularly for this song I prefer this version of UST singers.
This is interesting when done by native speakers.
That's true. But majority of these singers are from the capital region which doesn't speak the Maranao language. They speak English, Tagalog and usually one other dialect. Maranao is spoken in Mindanao. What is remarkable about the UST Singers is that they got everything right with this practically foreign tongue.
my hs vocal ensemble performed htis ...it was soo much fum! everytime we sang it we had ppl coming up to us going "omg that was so cool but wtf was that!" lol
This interpretation has its flaws. But reading the sheets, I find this to be the closest, smoothest, and most accurate interpretation of this piece I've watched here.
I understand the pressure of singing the notes precisely, hence the fierce look, but this is also supposed to be a fun children's play song ☺️
Pero grabe to so husay talaga wew
Hahaha! My choir did this my junior year of highschool! It was great fun. ^_^ I love it!
Pokpok Alimpako has been composed by Dr. Francisco Feliciano based on a Maranao children's song. It has been one of the contest pieces for NAMCYA's high school choir competition category in the 80s
nakaka tawa nga yung version. mero ang pulido, panalo.
It gives me nostalgia feeling
This piece was composed by Francisco Feliciano for the Children's Choir Category in NAMCYA. It's basically a play of words depicting children at play.
UST owns this song. No one comes close to their version.
very nice, thanks. Hard to believe it's the same group on the Elijah Rock video, which I just listened to. E-mail me if you are coming to the DC area in the USA and I will definitely come see you! :)
i love this song
wla ba nto ung madrigal?
great singers
Wow 😍
Best version of the song
Great!
This is a very simple Maranao game for children done by piling a number of fists laid on top of one another on a table.. The captain-ball then sings and pounds continuously the uppermost fist. Then when "bukar ka sa isa" (means you open one) is spoken, the lowermost fist should be opened... Singing and pounding is repeated.. So, after all the fists are opened, the game is over..
Froxy Macarambon gyaya e toos sa Batenger so Meranau a phaguinged sa Mantapoliarogong,Pilipinas sa masa imanto.
@dantbp
huh?????The Original Version was from the AILM chorale....this is where Dr. Francisco Feliciano is teaching...
masterpiece
Wow! This is unreal
muy chevere, demasiado chico
Pumunta lang ako dito kase sabi ng teacher namin kung dimo allam yung melody ng POKPOKALIMPAKO i will give you a grade of 75🤣🤣
hi wilby,
I thought it is a traditional middle-east kid's chant... It is composed by francesco feliciano... :)
@shaims21 thanks sa explanation. now we know why they laughed at the end. amazing!
I really liked the part at 1:32 when the guys starts to do vocal, it's like a surprise... weird but nice composition... LOL
Yeah I agreed to @dantbp...the best rendition!
Mabilis kasi version ng madz thats why, pakantahin nyo kaya sila ng Pamugun.
2018
2019!😅
I think it would take great skills in singing trying to do that. That's gotta be hard to sing. No wonder they've won the competition with this piece.
NJ allstate choir is singing this :0
came here because of modules
@evyjo33 there's no way that I can do this song like that XD I'm in it, too, and I can't sing it without laughing yet. Nor will i ever have this memorized.
correction... singers pala.. hehe
bravo.. cno ng compose n2??
Up
that was scarey. right at the beginning and right at the end. Really good though after the first couple of laughs. OMG im whitewashed
i dont really like these type that much. but thats some really good shit
ung babae sa 00:26 sa kaliwa mukang galit
great
This isn't composed by UST definitely. The rendition is theirs of course. This is borrowed from the children's game of my people, the Maranaos, the people of the Lake.
Agree
UST singers has the best interpretation.
Galing talaga but why does the laugh sound so fake?
