Geoffrey Palmer: what a voice. Loved him on "As Time Goes By" - one of the all-time great shows - so happy that we get to see the reruns here in the USA.
My late mother and I often used to relax in the evenings to DVDs of "As Time Goes By". Whenever she said "Let's put Lionel on" it meant we would both end up in a good mood. My late father too loved the show - he was a bit like a working-class Lionel in many ways...
Another example of why there'll ALWAYS be an England. Mr. Palmer is so talented, beyond the usual "hollywood" glitz baloney. A performer of substance and who is real. His voice is like a musical instrument: solid yet comforting and attractive. Sort of like along the lines of Claude Rains and Colin Clive. Old school, eh what? The best!
When I grow old I would love to be like Geoffrey Palmer. I'd love to be a grandfather like that. I don't care much about being a father, but a grandfather. That is something else. I'd help my grandchildren to nick candy from their grandmothers cupboard. I love candy.
Love Geoffrey Palmer...wish they would do more "As time goes by" seasons...miss that show show so much...the writing, characters...so witty...second to none
If a CD, on the order of Words for You, is ever done again then include Alfred, Lord Tennysons poem, Crossing the Bar. Former US President and WW II General of the Army, Dwight Eisenhower, read this poem at Churchills funeral. It is alleged to be one of Churchills favorite poems.
The lady interviewer is clearly a little uncomfortable, bit of a coughing fit, old lads like Geoffrey Palmer tended to have that effect on those not familiar - they and he had a certain presence.
R.I.P Geoffrey Palmer great actor and lovely bloke.

He was what made the show so enjoyable (for me), they were all great but Lionel was my favorite, grouchy but lovable.

Quite unique, was our Mr Palmer.
Such a lovely, well spoken, beautifully mannered, kind gentleman. Such absolute trolls interviewing.... Urgh

Bro looked like a slug, but sounded like a Bond villain
Bro? No no no, he was pre - 'bro'.
he reminds me of harrison ford...Like Harrison Ford now...His age.
They are terrible and should let him interview himself.
Lionel!
What a lovely guy Geoffrey Palmer was. Terrible interviewers though, totally out of their depth.
Second rate interviewer talking to a first rate actor!
