    Do you need to plug these into any power points? Or are they wireless and you just use an ethernet cable from the router to my PC?

    Are you able to easily disable / turn off the Wi-Fi signal from the Nokia Router once you have connected your own system?

    I was given one. Rather than using it as a Gateway, can I use it as a wireless hub connected to my current LAN?

    I have a question. How do I get the newer version of this modem to set up the most optimal way possible to play online games with my xbox series s console? I'm getting 300mbps+ download & around 50mbps upload, but my NAT Type is constantly moderate which causes a laggy online experience for gaming. I do have the console plugged in to LAN1 on the modem. The modem has no UPnP settings & I've tried all different ports on the console settings. How can I make this work as best as I can as this is my only option for internet currently? Thanks in advance

    • @maustinau
      @maustinau Před 2 lety +1

      You can't use Port Forwarding with mobile broadband (4G/5G etc) due to CG-NAT bro, your ports will always be moderate or strict unless you go with fixed line NBN
      Sorry my guy

    quick scenario, myself and my neigbour have the same modem. our modems sit at least 6 meters apart from eachother at each property. on his modem, he gets 420mbps all day evryday. my modem i get 120mbps all day everyday. same modem, pointing the same way, and the tower is only 400meters away. but our modems are a year apart. do you think i would have different firmware?

    i wish they would update the firmware so that the device can lock onto a specific tower in the area, I've been using 5G but as of 6am yesterday I receive no 5G signal and the 4G backup is 2 bars and is weaker than the previous 4G modem I had so not much of a backup xD

    2 things you need to remeber about wifi. 2.4ghz or 5g. If you are set on 5g then the wifi speeds are greater but drop with distance from the modem. I use this modem with Lan. And achieve about 150mbps on wifi (mobile phone, Lan is my PC.)

    If you have a lot of your neighbors with wi fi close to you theirs going to be a lot of cross talk and dropped packets which is why you want to use Ethernet cable. I also found out that placing the unit at a window and rotating it by turning the unit to get the strongest incoming signal but do this slowly to achieve the best results

    • @rickybaatjies6098

      Yes, it is capable of rolling back to 4G. I have the same issue of not having 5G in my area (small town).

    • @Jake-Daley
      @Jake-Daley  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi there! Adding a mobile package or eSIM to the Nokia FastMile 3.1 router requires specific settings and configurations based on your carrier. I recommend contacting your mobile service provider or checking their website for detailed instructions on how to set up an eSIM with their network. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out, and I'll do my best to help!"

    For that wifi speed, try the 5GHz wifi network which has higher bandwidth of 80MHz, than the 20Mhz bandwidth of 2.4Ghz . Otherwise try setting to n mode instead of auto b/g/n if using 2.4Ghz . The wifi settings are in the Network settings tab. This device also supports 802.11ac standard so should achieve upto 1.3G in 5Ghz. So its just settings you need to play. While this device also forms the centerpiece with Nokia mesh wifi beacons available for full mesh home wifi.

      I'm in the States and we have something similar to this Fast Mile. Looks the same but the ports are in different part. I noticed on my cell phone the speeds are lower but on the computer it's faster using 5Ghz. Kind of strange. Don't know why. I like the video though. Do all Aussie's interchange Modem, Router, and Gateway? I see them as different devices.
