It's not weak, just typically has fewer pellets. Compare similar loads, most of the time they have the same muzzle velocity.

A 20ga slug will take any mammal in North America. And a nice #3 buck load will handle any two-legged critter handily.

It's funny when people say a 20ga is not suitable for defense so you ask what about a 44 mag ?
Everyone says a 44 mag is more than enough for defense, Well a 20ga is more powerful then a 44 mag so how then is it not suitable ? 🤷‍♂

I shoot 20ga 99.9% of the time with a Remington 1100, have a franchi vs 612 12 ga that a closet queen.

I agree that the 590 is maybe the best home defense shotgun but definitely disagree the Shockwave is not the standard stocked version with 18” barrel is far superior The Browning BPS is a good gun, but may not be the “best” the Mossberg 500 and 590 and Remington 870 Wingmaster are at least as good, the Benelux is a decent gun but the Tristar Viper and Mossberg SA20 are as good and in fact because of price are superior to the Benelli

Mossberg Superior to Benelli??? That’s like saying a Fiat is superior to a Lamborghini….especially when you talking semi automatics. Mossbergs are not even close imo and I’ve owned both.

The 410 and 20ga Versions aren’t that bad really I’ve got both and there both very manageable now the 12 ga Version is a whole outher story lol 😂

I own a 12 gauge shockwave and I’m 150 lbs. with the strap and the way you hold it the recoil is negligible. Ironically it’s the only 12 gauge I own, all my hunting shotguns are 20 gauge.

S
