Mine came with a Red Back and I actually like it better than with the Cream Back my Dirty Shirley came with.....

    • @kirkmulder1599
      @kirkmulder1599 Před 3 lety +1

      I recently got a Smallbox combo that came with a red back. I ended up sending it back to exchange for a Twin Sister combo.
      Jury is still out on the Redback for me. It sounded lifeless at low volumes but even using other external speakers to my surprise I did not bond with the Smallbox as I said. Sounded and felt better with my Cream and at low volume too. But if my TS combo comes with a redback I’ll give it another chance for sure. Worse case I have a spare alnico cream (my fav speaker) handy. But now I’m thinking my issues with the redback might all be related to the Smallbox just being the wrong amp for me.
      I love my BE50 and my DS mini to death. My reaction to the Smallbox shocked me but I’m at peace with it. Deep down I wanted a Twin Sister anyway. Can’t wait! But I’ll probably have to for a couple months.

    Great demo. A difficult question to answer, but oww does this amp compare to the BE 100 Deluxe in terms of character?

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  Před 3 lety +1

      The Twin Sister is a 5881driven 40-watt amp that is more along the lines of a JTM 45. The BE 100 Deluxe is a 100 Watt EL34 driven amp. Its character leans more towards a modified Plexi.

      @@ShawnTubbs that's what I've landed on...... I've Done countless ab tests comparing to bib album and while the stock Setting has the upper mid super lead thing it is a bit too smooth sounding whereas the down position is more open and raw sounding to my ear..... Closer to a chaotic non master marshall cranked, the key with the down position for acdc I've found, is to run presence and mids really high to get more upper mids.... And keep bass way down around 2.......

      @ShawnTubbs  Před 3 lety +1

Th Steve Sevens model sounds killer and has a good sounding clean tone from the samples I've heard. Price tag aside, it's way too much amp for the gigs I'm doing these days. Hey Shawn! Huge fan of your tone and demo here (especially your playing )
    *BIG Question for you* about a pedal in this short *Jeff Mcerlain demo* on brad jetters channel link : czcams.com/video/rt-BwEpQPF8/video.html
    please help!
    :
    This jetter X pedal is amazing but from what I can see it's not made anymore : so I'm wondering in your wealth of pedal experience and demoing ...
    *Can you give ANY kind of recommendations*
    towards a pedal that is like this BUT ideally cheaper and
    *CLOSE to if not similar sounding?*
    .
    In the video, the jetter has this unique overdriven -amp about to blow up but not quite fuzz sound type of thing happening !
    I think it sounds killer and I can't find it anywhere!
    .
    I've sold countless klon and tubescreamer type clones but I haven't seen or heard anything like this one before !
    *If you know of a pedal that is still on the market that will do a very close approximation then I'm all ears*
    :
    Lastly; if this helps paint the full picture I use an esp vintage plus with an arcane humbucker into a friedman dirty Shirley mini combo. I Have a delay and reverb covered, Im just really chasing a more "unique" overdrive sound that isn't a typical tubescreamer or transparent boost copy etc. To use as a sort of distorted wild card with my friedman!
    .
    Hope you're staying safe/healthy in these really unpredictable times in the world. You rock and any recommendations are appreciated!

      I, unfortunately, don't have any experience with that Jetter X pedal though I have heard great things about it. Looks like there's one on Reverb. reverb.com/item/35365161-jetter-gear-pedal-x

    I never understood an amp demo that has all kinds of effects being used. We are trying to hear the amp. period.

    Why is it that not one single amp demo guy understands what a "deep" or "resonance" control does?
