  • The landing warship, named Caesar Kunikov, was struck by the Ukrainian Naval Drone MAGURA V5 also called sea drones off the annexed Crimean Peninsula near Yalta
We will also be looking at the basic engineering behind Sea Baby and one of their missions so stay tuned and don’t miss a beat.
This Russian landing ship, known as Caesar Kunikov belongs to the Ropucha-I-class segment of amphibious ships.
These vessels are crucial for swiftly transporting assault troops to land during military operations.
Originally designed for beach landings, they boast the capacity to carry up to 450 tons of cargo.
Featuring both bow and stern doors, they facilitate the seamless loading and unloading of vehicles.
The vehicle deck spans an impressive 630 square meters which translates to around (6,800 square Feet stretching the entire length of the hull.
This extensive space enables the embarkation of up to 25 armored personnel carriers.

The video is great from an engineering perspective. From a military perspective, let me add a few things off the top of my head:
1- The attack was carried out in coordination and there is footage of the event.
2- The ports have nets to counter the naval drones, so a plan had to be mustered.
3- A explosion happened in a location close to the russian naval base just before sunset, so they sent this ship, which has radar and AA gun to scout the area outside of the port, the idea was to have early warning if another weapon or aircraft was on their way. The Ukranians probably studied the movements of the russian fleet and expected this reaction.
4- The first drone to hit the ship has a thermal camera where you could see dusk happening. It tailgated the ship and hit it in the rudder.
5- With the mobility impaired, a second drone hit it again in the rudder, completely inmobilising the ship and turning it into a sitting duck
6- Another drone/explosion happened in the middle of the ship, I couldn't find footage of this explosion.
7- Another drone hit the ship in the same spot as the previous one, the damage can be seen before impact. At this point, the crew had probably started evacuation.
8- Further thermal footage can be seen of the ship sinking straight down, this means there were even more naval drones lurking and filming, a minimum of 5 naval drones carried out this attack plus whatever caused the initial explosion inland.
Hope it helps, maybe a video idea for a part 2 😉
****Edit: the escenario I described is the sinking of the ship Ivanovets***

it should be fairly simple based on the video provided to time the bob rate of the "drone" and calculate from that the displacement mass yielding an approximation of the size for the potential warhead....with out even bothering to do so it is obvious that the motorized surfboard in question can not mass much over 300 lbs 100 or so of which will be the drone battery pack motor and controls leaving 200 lbs of payload for a warhead...and you claim that this is what sank a warship? two of them now in as many weeks? yeah sure they did.

When you see an RC boat turning on water, I wonder how a missile or a torpedo could hit such a small thing. The best option would be a proximity detonation hopping the shock wave will do the trick. Yet, it's so small and quick that the heat signature must be almost invisible and radars would see them too late anyway.

@@TheRealBillBob yepyep, "we re not losing our fleet to weak Ukraine, we are losing it to West and/or Houthis", what a big pile of nonsense. First of all, "sea drones" Houthis use are not even remotely as advanced as those mentioned in this video. It's not even comparable. Their sea drones are literal motor boats with remote detonation and no streaming technology or even ability to control the direction of movement. It's not even a drone, it is just a catchy word to use by mass media. I mean it's not hard to google their "sea drones" up. I mean, there never was a single succesful use of those "sea drones" recorded, even against commercial ships.
Second: if those are donated by the west, i'd like to learn what sea drones u're talking about. I've never heard or seen any sea drone even remotely similar to this one. I these videos are great, and this is one that gives lots of details. However, I did see one detail that was missed. On the original drone, there are three angled fins that run across the top of the vessel. These fins serve a specific purpose. They are needed because of the high speed of the vessel and the large payload located forward of the center. If rough seas are encountered, they prevent the vessel from being forced under the water and becoming a submarine. If the vessel encounters a large wave, the water pushes against the angled fins. This force causes the bow of the vessel to rise out of the water rapidly.
    Keep up the great work.

Nice presentation, but I am sceptical about the bomb triggering model showed here. With such shape profile and impact fuses on the the very top - the angle tolerance to trigger the fuses would be very narrow. If the drone crashed at target with small derogation from perpendicularity it could destroy frontal side, without triggering the explosion. So I think that triggering system is different than shown or there are many backup systems, including also accelerometers.

Whoever knows something about the boats would know they can't have such a range. They are designed as planing boats, that's why they can reach high speeds. But at high speeds they would have very short range. Their cruise speed is probably more in about 20 knot range. From Ukrainian shore to the location of the strike is more than 400 nautical miles. At cruise speed that is 20hours. Propuslsion is based on a SeaDoo technology. It is well known, easy to obtain and also there is a lot of data available. I don't know exactly what model they used, for my calculation I used a mid range model, although it's much lighter than this drone. It has fuel consumption of 35-40 litres per hour. That would equate to 700-800 litres of fuel. And this is at a distance shorter than the claimed range of 800 kms.
No way it can carry that much fuel.
There is a possibility that it could travel at long distances in displacement mode, but there are several other factors to be taken into account. Planing boats are not very fficient in displacement mode, wated jet is not very efficient at low speeds, it's displacement top speed would be some 4.5 to 5 knots max, that means it would take it 80 hours, more than three days to reach it's target, they would be exposed to detection for three full days.
My bet is they were not launched from the coast in the first place. Most likely from some NATO ship, maybe even from some civilian cargo ship.
Then there is a ''small'' thing about guidance. Starlink does not work in or around Crimea. I'm 99.5% they are using US/NATO assets to relay the signal at minimum. BTW, on the day of the strike there was extremely big activity of recconaissance assets in the area. There was the usual RQ-4, P-8, RC-135, E-3. All at the same time! I've seen them all there before, but not at the same time. Maybe, actually, probably, there were even more. That indicates direct NATO involvement.

Lol the drones are definitely not Nato. Ukraine was the production mind and brains of the cold Ivanoid Slave Empire.

First, it's an older drone then it says it's cutting edge. There's also four different ranges and three different speeds, did anyone proofread this before they sent this out to the masses?

I think about that, but it`s complicated to hit even such a huge warship. Just imagine how complicated to hit a little high-speed drone. Only self-guided rockets and guns.
