Synopsis:In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. He just oozed charisma in this role. I felt a sense of wonder every time he tapped his powers, like it could have been the first or hundredth time he used any given spell. It's hard to explain, but it's the one thing I find missing in Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. He maintained his too-cool-for-school mindset despite everything magical he witnessed. That shit would humble you like a bad acid trip.

The Justice Society of America was DC's first superhero group, the predecessor to the Justice League. in this movie we only saw 2 of its original members which are Dr Fate and Hawkman. Its other original members are Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Hourman, Atom and others
JSA was the first superhero group in all of comics not just dc

It really does make a difference if you donât already know the characters going in and had been waiting to see them on the big screen for years. It is hard to invest in the characters from what they give you in the film. Also, they had to go and kill off Kent Nelson, who was by far the best part of the film, because he was just too powerful to be in the DCEU.

My biggest surprise was your reaction to Hawkman. I thought Hodge nailed the archetype of unyielding team leader. He's the type of guy to take on threats way above his paygrade and not think twice about it. He has no business fighting Black Adam one-on-one, but I totally believed him as someone who would try. It's the sort of energy that got retired with Steve Rogers, and I hope DC/Marvel can infuse their new characters with this kind of leadership.
Edit: For the record, I liked very little else about this movie.

Dr fate is the OG character, Dr. STRANGE was based on Dr. FATE. Fate can also create spells, while strange just uses spells.
And Lords of order are beings that even the gods fear and of course hell its self. because of how insanely powerful they are.
Dwayne was wanting to do this film for years. You can tell he was really into it. His performance and Brosnan as Fate were the only enjoyable parts for me.
Yeah. Everyone else was tolerable but they could have really done something with the sons. Both just had rough wooden delivery of lines. They really ruined every scene they were in.

I feel like you went in thinking of this as a bad movie, you immediately pointed out many flaws and started bashing on acting and the plot before we got any advancements in the story, or explination for the characters' motivations. It seems kinda unfair especially since I know that going in ACTUALLY blind, like my friends, resulted in us having a whole lotta fun watching this movie and not taking anything too seriously

I was the opposite I hadn't seen any reviews or general consensus of this film going in to it but I had many friends tell me the movie was a good fun time. I went in with the mindset of having a good fun time and for the whole runtime I had no interest in anything going on and it was a genuinely painful cinema experience.

I went in knowing 0 and my friend and I laughed and cringed bc it was so bad. I agree that it's not very fun to watch a "negative" reaction, but it was just genuinely not a good movie at many points

I honestly really like this movie, it really shows the actual lore of Black Adam and it's super interesting
I feel like they kinda made him weak. If they had him go against Shazam like in the comics I read as a child, they could have constructed a stronger story. They could have taken out the heart portion that just felt like useless filler since we all came to watch Dwayne Johnson kick ass anyway.

So im late to comment, but I actually think the mother and son play a very important part in this. The reason why he was so invested in them is most likely because they remind him of the wife and child he lost AND they represent the same kind of people his son fought hard to liberate many years before.
Also, one of the reasons why he says he's not a hero is because he feels like he couldn't live up to all of the good his son had done and didn't deserve the same title. His son always had a heroic spirit, which is why the wizards chose him, so if he's comparing himself to his son, then no, he wouldn't think he's a hero.
I didnât expect this much complaining, lol.
I liked it because it gave me what it promised, non-stop action.

This movie is not nearly as bad as it gets a rep for. It has issues but when you've seen the Justice League movie and Morbius, you have to have a respect for this movie. And the way the Villian dies is probably one of my favorite villain deaths

I get what youâre saying to an extent but when the only positive thing you can say about a movie is that the fight scenes were good itâs plainly a terrible movie. Thatâs pretty much the main if only compliment anyone who likes this movie gives it. I admittedly like a good fight scene yet it needs to be more than that. Iâm glad DC & Black Adam fans enjoyed it despite all that though.

Its just that the relevant and endearing backstory is at the end of the movie, by then we don't really care about a character or their motivations. It doesn't retroactively make all the previous scenes good, by then it's too late and breaks up all the pacing. If it was any other actor playing Black Adam then no one would care about the character
If you split the backstory in 5 different "zones" in the movie, it gets shitty. The point is they kept going back over and over again and that completely ruins storytelling.

For real. I am in no way a DC fanboy. Im actually quite a Marvel fanboy. But (strictly keeping the conversation on Seb) Seb has WHEEZED at jokes half as good as the worst jokes in this movie amd its because he goes into movies woth preconceived notions that the movie is bad. Take Morbius for example. Ok, so he started off as comic character and no one looked at him as a meme. He was a genuinely good and interesting character. Then the movie came out (which I tend to legitimately enjoy more than most. Not anything crazy, but I just dont have a negative view on the movie other than 'slightly disappointing') and it wasnt as good as it could've been. Memes started, everyone shat on it, and then Seb reacted to it. Bro, this man laughed at his name at the beginning of the movie. HIS NAME. Someone introduced him as "Dr Michael Morbius" and Seb wheezed and said, while laughing, "dR mIcHaEl MoRbIuS." There's nothing funny about his name. He laughed because he went into the movie with the mindset of, "dont find any saving graces, just shit on the bad parts of the movie so that the majority (a.k.a. the people who think the movie is shit) will agree with me and like me." These aren't even movie reactions, they're public acts of trying to be liked.

Honestly I like it because it looks better than most of the other things they made. Their doing really good ever since suicide squad when it comes to costumes and production quality. Story wise it leaves much to be desired but I'm just so proud of them improving everything else I don't think to much of the story

I think you're in the few really, this movie is a really good movie, sure its not perfect but a LOT better than lots of movies that have come out in the past 10 years, but that being said that opinion is from the mind of someone who KNOWS these characters already from comics, someone else commented that its a big difference if you don't know the characters, thats true I can see that this movie is probably a bit meh if you don't, but overall for the fanbase its targetting this movie is great! love the reaction regardless!

Here's some trivia for you
Adrianna Tomaz (the kids mother) becomes Isis, a superhero who uses a Talisman to transform, she had a TV series in the 70's that was a spin off of Captain Marvel (Shazam) called The Secrets of Isis.
Intergang, an intergalactic team of mercenaries in league with Darkseid and Apokolyps. A group of humans who work with Darkseid from Earth that's why their tech is futuristic.
Black Adam was called Teth Adam originally before getting Black Adam and was basically an evil Captain Marvel. Later on he became more of an antihero dedicated to protection Kandahq.
The story this film is mostly based on is JSA: Black Reign in which Black Adam, along with Atom Smasher take over Khandaq and the Justice Society goes there to stop him.
Dr. Fate was created before Strange and JSA is the first team in the comics.

I really liked this movie, it did have some issues, as does every movie.
They could have easily made 2 movies out of it.
The origin in the ancient time, I would have loved to have seen that as a movie just by itself.

The film in my opinion was a 6/10 for having a script and lines that look like an animated children's hero movie and very predictable, but with very good fight scenes.
But now it's a 5/10 because the movie doesn't make sense anymore as it promised something it will never deliver which is Superman (Cavil) vs Black Adam (The Rock)
Two and a half minutes in... "what is this acting?" LOL exactly. Still a fun ride, though!
I think people that know these characters from the comics thought this movie was okay but I noticed that people that arenât familiar with the characters were not invested into the movie at all. The Rock was an executive producer for the movie, most of it IS his idea and he pushed this movie into development. All around it was weak directing, writing, and production .

You should watch constantine (2015, tv show) it got cancelled after the first season, not because it was bad because it wasn't IMO its definitely one of the best IF not the 2nd best DC TV show, it only got cancelled because not many people watched it. (When you finish the show he does re-appear in Legands of tomorrow but that has many seasons).

I know that this movie have some cheesy acting but I really enjoy this movie. This is one of my favorite DC live action films after man of steel and superman vs batman.

I loved the film, because it was fun to watch, with some nice fights, nice CGI, some good music, a handful of jokes that i liked, with the Rock as Black Adam and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. It was entertaining! No, it was not the greatest superhero movie ever, and won't win an Oscar, but it was not as cringe as you were reacting to it. (Perhaps you should write stories and direct films, they would be massive successes, I am sure.) I knew the characters from comics from my childhood, and although they were not portrayed as I remembered, they were not new to me either, so there were no need for an introduction or for character development.
I am genuinly glad, that I watched the film before I saw this reaction video, and I am lucky, that I did it without a company like you, so I could enjoy it without those arrogant negative laughs and comments. There were many Marvel films I saw but were not nearly as enjoyable as this one. But then again, I am just a boomer, so perhaps it is my age, why I enjoy films like this one.
I actually really liked the movie. The songs were good the fights were good. Loved the whole not wanting a hero thing. There are very little morally grey characters who are actual protagonists of the story and this one just worked for me.
And I mean people tolerated some really shitty humour in the mcu so in comparison to that this was pretty mild and did itâs job as comic relief without completely ruining the mood of the film imo

The Justice Society isn't a knock off, they are the first top secret superhero alliance way before the Justice League.
So Hawkman (Carter Hall) is a reincarnated Egyptian prince (Prince Khufu). Doctor Fate isn't like Doctor Strange, he gets his powers from the various magical artefacts that make up his suit. He's probably powerful enough to defeat the entire Justice League on his own. Also, the Justice Society of America is NOT a B-tech Justice League. They've existed long before the Justice League was ever an idea.

I have seen you reacting to the worst marvel movies and still enjoying it like thor love and thunder but you were not open minded when watching Black Adam and you were always trashing everything about this movie. Its weird because people on youtube reacting to this were enjoying it cause they were going in with an open mind but you just don't care about anything DC related you always do this and wonder why you cant enjoy DC. But dont worry now DC is run by a Marvel Director and you finally got a Reason to like DC.
