    Good choices. Empire is a great brand. I ended up getting an Empire no dawg, had gone to Home Depot and picked up the Klein in electrical dept. Got to levels in tool aisle. Compared the Klein to Empire. Every shape, angle, magnets, contour and dimension appeared exactly the same, everything except color and brand name Empire 5 bucks less. Made me wonder who made the level for Klein. Been happy with my Empire, but it isn't orange and doesn't say Klein. Also have a couple of Stanley Fat Max and Bostitch levels up to six foot. It is my understanding that Empire is now owned by Milwaukee.

      yes they are. thats why milwaukee came out with levels also. I still have to take a look at checkpoint levels and stabila levels.

    Those are great levels for different jobs and price points. If you care to spend more money on levels, I would highly recommend Checkpoint levels. Checkpoint also makes Greenlee’s and Southwire’s levels. Greenlee has a 4 vial, 0°, 30°, 45°, and 90°, “no-dog” level with the conduit set screw, kind of like the Klein. Checkpoint’s actual levels are a little longer. I like them because they stick out of you back pocket enough so you can easily grab them. They also have a torpedo 3 vial level with the “no-dog” set screw you can set on conduit. Southwire has a 4 vial set screw level the same length as Checkpoints 4 vial levels. All in all, each one from each brand has a slightly different design, each with a feature specific to certain jobs. All made by checkpoint though, except Klein. Looks similar though.

    So I use my channel locks as a crescent... Why both... You need a torpedo finishing or framing hammer depending on what you're doing a chalk line a small pry bar a chisel forwood and the a concrete chisel and of course I hammer and tape

      @OneToolAWeekGuy  Před 4 lety

      Some items you cannot scratch special finish items. So Crescent work great and also non abrasive pliers.

    Do you ever have any problems with the lines wearing away on the vials making them harder to read? I carry them in a tool bag and pocket and I find carrying them in a pocket wears off the lines on the vials.

    • @OneToolAWeekGuy
      @OneToolAWeekGuy  Před 6 lety

      Strife72 no I have not. the only problems I have with them is that the plastic levels fall from a high place and break. Then again that’s why there not that much. What level do you have?

    • @Strife72
      @Strife72 Před 6 lety +4

      I have a few different kinds, too many actually. I’m kind of a tool hoarder 😂 I have a Stabila in my plumbing tool bag.
      I use a rare earth magnet Klein and just today picked up that Milwaukee billet one in your video for my Steamfitting/Pipefitting work. I can’t handle those cheap magnet strips they always fall of when you’re trying to level a steel pipe or fitting.

    • @OneToolAWeekGuy
      @OneToolAWeekGuy  Před 6 lety

      And that's how I break them lol. Love the Milwaukee and Klein tools. Haven't checked out the stabilator levels yet how do you like it and what model do you carry.

    • @Strife72
      @Strife72 Před 6 lety +1

      One Tool A Week Guy ! I have the Stabila 25245 Die cast Torpedo level and I’ll be honest if you can afford to splurge a bit on tools go for that one.
      It’s advertised that their level maintains a lifetime stated accuracy so there’s that. Quite costly but you get what you pay for.

    • @OneToolAWeekGuy
      @OneToolAWeekGuy  Před 6 lety

      I’ll have to look at it along with the check point levels. Thanks for the recommendation strife72. Also what kind of tool bag do you use if you don’t mind me asking.

      omar diaz Klein just a bit more stronger then the Milwaukee.

  • @xprocharged1
    @xprocharged1 Před 6 lety +5

    That's not what the purpose of the thumbscrew is on the Klein level. It's basically trying to replicate the original No-Dog- the purpose is mainly for doing offsets in machine benders(still works with hand benders but not as precise). Put the conduit in the machine- attach the no dog to the bent end before bending and level it up(it'll be attached to side of the conduit). Bend your 30, 45 whatever. Now when you flip the pipe over, you just level the no dog again and it will be perfectly 180 degrees opposite as before and the offset with be perfectly square with no dog leg in it. Hence No-Dog.
    Check out the original no dog- much better. Smaller, much shorter so it's easier to clamp on since it's so light, and it's machined like a quality piece.
    20 years in the IBEW I've bent my fair share of conduit.

      xprocharged1 are you referring to the no dog by ideal? They make some solid looking levels with the no-dog feature with replaceable torpedo vials. Probably going to be my next level here pretty soon

    Did you really first say the Milwaukee level was 8 inches?.... And then you corrected yourself saying it was 6 inches.
    YOU LITERALLY COUNTED TO SIX WITH THE RULER ON THE DAMN SEVEN INCH LEVEL. WHAT?!?!?!

    • @woodyplatapus
      @woodyplatapus Před 5 lety +1

      @@OneToolAWeekGuy it means a level has one purpose.... to check level/plumb/x° and this is easy to diuble check and make sure your level is accurate... a suprising amount of levels being used right now today are inaccurate... manufacturing defects, drops etc

    • @OneToolAWeekGuy
      @OneToolAWeekGuy  Před 5 lety

      Randy I use the Milwaukee all the time and dropped it a great amount of times. Compare to the other levels except the Klein they have always been accurate.
