CBS News Colorado Reporter Jasmine Arenas takes a deep dive into the dangers of unlicensed hot dog stands and how it can pose a health risk to Coloradans.
If you knew the long process you have to go through get a hot dog cart license, the over a million dollars in insurance you have to have as well as RENTING two different spaces to prepare as well as store your cart, not including the MANY hoops you have to jump through to have a legal spot to park the cart. Then head to the fire dept so they can check the temperature of the water required at your handwashing station. If done properly it’s a very expensive and long process.
I agree. 2 sets of rules doesn’t work. I’m a landscape contractor in California. Tons of unlicensed age uninsured guys out there, with zero enforcement of any laws or rules. Almost like being punished by being above board. Tons of over head and nobody else cares. 🤷♂️
In all seriousness, with all the profits from illegal sales and not having to pay permit fees and taxes, they should at least be able to purchase the advanced cooktop with the sink.
I used to work at Ball arena. These illegal vendors are not allowed to sell on the arena property, so arena management asks security to just push them off the property, across the street is fine. After that it’s up to the city to decide what to do with them. A sidenote, I know a few people who bought these and didn’t feel well after eating them.
Just because they don’t rent an expensive building don’t mean they don’t have safe handling practices and anyways that’s all a sham as many restaurants are probably much worse and where are your people working providing clean food late night then nowhere they are lazy and immigrants make this country much better
@@robertvazquez2964 Bro, did you watch the video? 😂 I saw no refrigeraion of any kind, handling ready to eat foods without gloves, no ability to wash hands, a cross contamination.
@@NunYa953 Did any of that exist in the ancient world? But you eat processed food and gmo’a anyways and you can still get food poisoning anywhere. You should start the first true zero germ restaurant I’d like to see one and no coackroaches
Time to want to know who's cocaine that was in the White House not really so worried about hot dogs but cocaine in the White House is kind of a big deal
Coming to this country illegally and selling food without a license are crimes. Not necessarily violent, but serious crimes none the less. People should be praising these police for protecting the community.
Are you aware that over 3000 people die every year from food poisoning? Did you know that Over 125,000 people get gravely sick from bad food every year? Those officers are simply doing their jobs. Don’t let your hate for police officers cloud your reasoning. This is a real danger to our community. Sounds like you may be one of the illegal “Vendors.”
That’s so gross no gloves alone. I understand the cop should be working on other crimes. That great take it to other Mexicans that can get sick and use our hospital facilities for free lol
Of all the things the cops could be doing. How about making the license cheaper to get so they can get legit and still run their business. And whatever you do, don't shut down the hot dog stand in RiNo, that one has the best hot dogs in Denver.
WTF! I didn't know selling hot dogs was more dangerous than selling drugs & illegal weapons! Good job to the cops they stopped that dangerous criminal! Tonight Denver ppl can sleep safe knowing the Hot Dogs Cartel is taking down! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@2cleo sorry my typing sucks! What it comes down to is the city thinks they owe them money so now they are going to smear everyone who doesn't pay them!
*lets admit it, the real story here is not because of unsafe handling of food but Uncle Sam is not getting his pocket money.*
Oh thank god this was getting out of hand like auto theft and violent crime

I feel better now that they are Cracking down 😂
They would have to shut down 95% of street vendors in Venice beach.
In all seriousness, with all the profits from illegal sales and not having to pay permit fees and taxes, they should at least be able to purchase the advanced cooktop with the sink.
Next, a crackdown on unlicensed car window washing stations on busy intersections.
It's illegal, case closed. Go get your license and follow the rules like everyone else...

Balls in yo mouth arena
For all we know you are a liar.
Raw bacon, those tongs and vegetables breed cross contamination. Sounds delicious!
…..Mmmm cross contamination! 😋
Yet farmers still don't have to provide adaquete bathroom access in fields during harvest. No one seems to care how their food is handled then.
Who would think that people from third world countries wouldn't follow safe food handling practices?

Go back to California.
Umm, i think if I saw someone cooking hot dogs on a baking sheet I'd think twice about eating them.
True enough
This is what they are worried about
No hand washing and handling money, unsafe food storage. I go for the established and licensed food carts and trucks.
She is breaking the law did she come here legally?
She's a woman so she's fine. Calm down.
Right . That's funny .
But people doing drugs and passing out on the street, no problem!

So sad the police is focus on a hot dog vendor. Plus no one is forcing anyone to eat there.
