    Everything you were doing was right on point except the fact that you did not use any spray soap or lubricant to ease the mounting of the tire and you were clearly struggling more than necessary fighting the friction. Nonetheless it was a very good video, thank you.

      @@jamal69jackson77 I agree, it does make it a little easier if lubed, but also it wasn't really difficult for him either....... It also assured no moisture was inside of the tire by not spraying with soapy water. Moisture inside can cause air pressure to fluctuate. The drier the air the better, hydrogen even better.

      @@GunClingingPalin yeah that can happen. It happened to me once for not using lubricant, it tore the edge of the tire lip a bit, but fortunately it was nothing that caused an issue... still, it's definitely not desirable.

    Removing and installing is completely opposite to everything you have shown. Plus you will need to go in a counter clockwise direction. A bit of tire bead lube or dishwashing soap will help a lot

  • @Reloadeez
    @Reloadeez Před 2 lety +30

    Removal is over the duck head under the duck tail, install is under the duck head over the duck tail. Just remember a drowning duck always comes up, a duck with air installs a spare. Direction of travel is always duck tail in front duck head in back, which is counter clockwise on a manual changer.

      You can build a better version for $25-30 and it looks like he's using it backwards but it may just be the duckhead is made to turn that direction all the ones I've seen go counter clockwise! You can buy the duckhead for about $20, fab a mount for a pipe and weld mount to pipe, then bolt duckhead to mount!! You use it like the original bar without all that unnecessary contraption! And those lug holes only work for that specific bolt pattern that piece you cut off was designed for universal fit!!

And if you have a small 4 hole rim or larger 6 hole rim the bolts aren't going to line up anymore with the rim holes. I've been using my HF machine like this for years and with a little soapy water in a spray bottle it works great. I can do it easily with one hand.

    you are turning the tire the wrong way when installing it. you are using the duck bill removal side to install the tire. use the other end of it and it will go on like butter. counter clockwise .

    I would have used some soapy water just to make it a little easier.

    I have one of these tire machines I bought for the second attachment you need to change motorcycle wheels/tires.
    is tire machine damages the rims if you have nice wheels. You really have to have it cemented down solid so you can apply pressure. I had mine mine into my garage floor with large lead anchors trying to do steel wheel cars wheels. I wouldn’t dare assault my aluminum rims with this archaic Stone Age machine. I ended up pulling the anchors out of the floor rather than spinning the tire off..
    I have years of experience since I was 14 working in gas stations with manual tire machines. In fact, I still have an atlas manual tire machine that I bought from a boron gas station I worked at when they upgraded to an atlas pneumatic tire changing machine, and I also bought the atlas bubble balancer with the spindle that floats and 90 weight oil when they went to snap on spin balancers. So I know how to use a manual machine ..
    this machine should be shorter so you have less leverage over pulling the anchors out of the floor. And the channels welded to the bottom. They need to be extended so you have eight anchors in the floor instead of just for so close to the post.
    I put new tires on my trailer wheels by hand. I also put bicycle tires on my bicycle rims by hand. And the attachment I bought for this machine for holding motorcycle wheels, that’s another beauty that doesn’t work. I do better with a plastic milk crate and 18 inch tire irons

      Mines lagged into floor joist on plywood floor for 25 years never a problem, just changed 265/17's on my F250! Duckhead is coated to protect the newer wheels no marring! And yeah I've used these for 50 yrs since I was 14 too! Prying the tire on and off with tire irons damages more wheels than anything!!
