* For the sweet potato smoothie bowl, I roast them first for 60 min at 400F, then take the peel off, cut them into chunks and freeze them overnight!

Hey caitlin I have a recipe for lentils as we do it in the caribbean
1st you boil your lentils or any other beans until soft then strain but keep the water make sure to also boil with a little salt
2nd Cut up your onions and garlic and ginger with saffron/Tumeric maybe some tomatoes
3rd Put your pot to hot preferably a cast iron one with a little bit of coconut oil or any other oil you want..heat it up then take your bron sugar or coconut sugar and add 1 to 2 table spoons to that into the hot oil and wait for the sugar to swell then keep stiring until its swollen but not burnt in the pot
4th Add in your strained lentils with your chopped veggies and give that a stir until everything is well coated
5th add in your lentils stock and put any other seasonings you want into the pot then cook until it becomes sort of like a thick soup
6th t
eat it as a dip or over a plain bowl of brown rice

Shania Moon you forgot about the shadow beni (aka culantro) and but cilantro or coriander is a good substitute, root vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, adds great flavor and chilies or peppers to give it some heat

I also struggled with an exercise addiction in the past but yoga helped me so much with learning to appreciate my body more, feeling present and more mindful! And I used to think yoga is just laying around but who's saying that never practiced yoga because you do use a lot of strength and I get sweaty almost every time!
Fun fact: I started doing yoga after watching watching one of your videos when you were doing the 30 day Fightmaster Yoga Challenge and since then I've been practicing every day! Thank your for the inspiration🙏

I always feel inspired everytime I watch your videos. Back in March this year I gave up eating meat for lent and since then I've decided to permanently remove meat from my diet because my IBS has been more tolerable. Whenever I feel crummy, or need a boost in motivation I watch your videos and I feel like I'm back on track. I'm not a vegan at all but somehow transitioning to a vegetarian diet has been doable and you've been more than helpful. THANK YOU!!

Thanks for being so honest in this video! I loved hearing your experience with exercise as it's something I've also struggled with in the past. It's tough seeing exercise gurus all over CZcams and not wanting to get back into an insane workout schedule. Sometimes, you have to listen to your body and do the exercise that works while also fueling your body with awesome plant-based food. Love watching your videos and getting ideas for meals!

I agree completely with your view on exercise. I used to do crossfit for two years and it was great but I'm enjoying a more de stressing form of exercise (yoga). It has helped a lot with my mental health !

I am glad I watched this video as I am currently doing a pretty intensive internship in NYC and have been struggling to keep up my mental health habits (some yoga and meditation) as well as running and cardio. I have been so stressed trying to run in the mornings before work and always expend all of my energy as soon as I wake up! This video made me realize I should focus more on mental clarity and inspired me to work on my yoga practice as a primary form of exercise :)

Hey Caitlin, english is not my first language so I hope this will be understandable, but I really wanted to share my thoughts on today's topic with you.
I also used to struggle with exercise addiction and orthorexia (some type A personality weaknesses I guess, haha) and deep down I always asked myself if it wasn't the same for you, because I totally recognized myself in the way you decided to stop all intense exercise suddenly and started practicing yoga instead, without explaining it so much to everybody.
I was at a point where all this intense exercise + stressful mindset over food was starting to isolate me and causing me some serious hormonal issues...
But ever since I started practicing yoga and walking as my only form of exercise + started to change my perception about food and just life in general, I started to feel so much happier ! Seeing the way that you blossomed through your videos, thanks to yoga and all of the mental aspects that follow, helped me so much during my journey, so I just wanted to thank you. Really, now I'm glad I had to go through all of this because, even though it was hard, I grew so much during the process, and now I'm just so much more mindful and grateful about all the things i have :)
I really think that you should make a video about this, I'm sure it would help a lot of people that are struggling with this, that may or may not be aware of it. Because, sadly, I think that exercise addiction is an issue that is growing nowadays, with all the exercise obsession that is going on through social media...
But that's pretty much all I had to say, keep going girl, your are amazing

Wowwwww so needed to hear this. I feel like all I see on my Instagram feed sometimes is super fit women who train hardcore daily, and it often makes me feel like I should be doing that/looking that way. I've found intense daily exercise isn't good for my anxiety so I like to keep it simple like you. While exercise is important it shouldn't be what we plan our lives around! Thank you for being one of the few people to go into detail about this x

So glad to hear about someone else who doesn't engage in crazy exercise. I feel like there is so much pressure to be mega fit and join a gym nowadays, a long walk is so much more healthy and healing to me. Also that smoothie bowl was feckin' beautiful.
Loved this!!! Also, I completely agree and resonate with what you said about exercising and working out! I used to be a huge "gym rat" and lately have been feeling the same way and so now my main "exercise" is walking my dog, and doing yoga or just trying to be more active overall through the day! You are my favorite vegan youtuber (and probably my favorite vegan person in general, let's be honest lol)! I love what you said about workouts and how you have to do what's best for you. It's SO true!! My twin sis loves bodybuilding and for a while I thought I had to lift super heavy weights. But we also live different lifestyles and eat different diets, and that just wasn't working for me. Now, I do yoga basically every day and if I miss a day or two of a workout, it's not a big deal. I love how mindful my exercise is, and I enjoy it every time!

Thank you for mentioning the importance of mindfulness in exercise! I'm a yogi too and formerly struggled with exercise addiction. Focusing on what feels good for our bodies is so important, and so much healthier mentally and physically than pushing our bodies to the extreme just to attain some ridiculous ideal. Thank you for being a body positive force within the vegan movement!! :)

you don't understand how much it means to me that you say that. A year ago, I started working out because I wanted to be healthier. I followed a workout plan that made me workout every single day for an hour. At first, it seemed like a good idea, and I thought it was the only way for me to achieve my goals. But when my body started breaking down, when I fed myself less food and kept on working hard, I didn't stop. Even if I was tired, sick, had my body aching and hurting from inside and out I still didn't stop. Exercise had made me so ill. I haven't worked out for more than a month now. I still relate it to a lot of pain and it's going to take me some time before I can ease back into it. I always imagined that you worked out a bunch, and mended it to my distorted view upon health. I'm happy that you do what's best for you and your body, because that's exactly what I need to learn.
