Just a heads up for anyone that owns, or is thinking about owning a Dyson: itâs very important to empty the bin as soon as the dirt reaches the âMaxâ level, even if thereâs space on the other sides. The cyclonic filtration system requires the space above the âMaxâ line to function, and neglecting to empty the bin once it reaches that level can actually affect the long term longevity of the vacuum and HEPA filter.
I confirm. I once didn't empty soon enough, and my HEPA filter was full of shit at a moment's notice.
Good thing Dyson has a good washable pre-motor filter that protects the motor for situations like this and is designed to last for years before needing replacement.
@@battery_wattage Yes, designed to last for years when the vacuum is used as intended. Constantly letting the bin fill past the max level is not using it as intended. This is the same reason the filterless Dyson upright and canister vacuums failed-people failing to follow simple directions.
HEPA filter easily gets dirty
Itâs funny how these instruction and warnings exist for a reason but most people are too arrogant to listen to them, then wonder why the product doesnât work properly. Iâve always emptied mine before the Max fill line, and the filter stays clean for months at a time. Dyson need a way of cutting out the motor to force people to empty them when they should.
Your method and process is literally the best reviews Iâve seen online. Itâs honest data mixed with experience from the field. Itâs just so clear, that Iâm only buying vacuums after seeing you review them. Kudos!!
I appreciate that!
I agree 100%
Yes! He's the best!
Bought this one a couple of months ago and we are so happy with it! It really is powerful, nothing tangles in the heads and the easiness of use + the lightness are a cherry on the top of it all. Love it.
Glad you enjoy it!
Me and my wife love this vacuum. We thought the green light was a gimmick, but it actually works so good showing all the dog and cat hair lol.
I bought this vacuum today and MY GOD did i not realize how much cat and dog hair were EVERYWHERE on my floors. The laser is a game changer for me, not only does it make it easy to see what you haven't vacuumed yet but it almost "gameifys" vacuuming
One thing you didnât mention that I personally wished Dyson had brought earlier to their handhelds is that thereâs an on/off button and no longer trigger activated, it really makes using this a breeze
Zip tie lol đ
yeah, i realized v15 and outsize is quite tiring because of the trigger based.
I have a V8 Animal. I hate the trigger with a passion. I love it's performance though.
I think the trigger was a safety feature so if you fell it would switch off. You might suck up your pet dog by mistake.
@@robertwilson3866 Unlikely a dog, but maybe if you had a gerbil. đ€Łđ
This is still without a doubt Dyson's best stick vac. Period. Lightweight. On/Off button. Smart display. Smart modes. Has the laser. Once again, LIGHTWEIGHT. My wife and I both love this thing, her especially because she can actually use it for more than 5 minutes without her arm aching like the ridiculously heavy models after this. On sale you can grab this thing for sub $500 and that is a steal.
This combined with their standard canister vac is the perfect combo.
Your review was so helpful and your voice is so soothing!
I just got mine yesterday and oh my god!!!
I have NOT been vacuuming allllll these years!!
Love love love this vacuum!!!
Nice!
Best review so far... I think this answers my all the questions. I'd suggest Dyson to hire you for the reviews !! Thanks to you & your team :)
Dyson V12 Detect Slim at Amazon: geni.us/LGsR
Love this channel! I get easy answers to most of my vacuum cleaner-related queries here.
Great to hear! Thanks!
Absolutely! Following the simple instructions is a problem for many people these days! I (usually) run my Dyson V6 Absolutes around once or twice a day and that keeps things nicer as well as making vacuuming an easier chore! Empty every time and vacuum out the bins with a Dyson upright.
I personally like the bigger ones like the V15 and Outsize, but I like that they offer a slim version for people who have a preference against the size of those units. The numbers are impressive too! It is crazy that suction and airflow numbers on these cordless units are starting to rival corded units. If I had money, I would buy one.
It's heavy after awhile, even for the Slim
I'm glad you managed to get one to test. I actually ended up buying one myself once I saw how it performs. I really like it.
That's good to hear! Thanks!
Hey, fantastic video as always. Have been using this in India for the past 6 months, and thoroughly impressed by it. Use it in a 3 BHK apartment it works like a charm. And coz of the size, itâs perfect for dusting places other than floors. This is my first Dyson ever, and am thoroughly impressed not only by their products but by their customer care as well. Also, what I like as compared to the other Dysonâs in the shop was the âRED BUTTONâ. Tried using the trigger mechanism in the shops and did not like the experience. With the button itâs far more convenient. Itâs a small thing but greatly impacts the usability of it. All in all I highly-highly recommend this product to anyone living in an apartments. Itâs brilliant!
And thank you VACCUME WARS for making such brilliant videos. It was your video which also convinced me to purchase a Deebot T8 with an Auto Emptying Bin. The Deebot along with the DYSON is absolutely insane. Greetings from India đźđł
ahhh finally this reached the US shores. There was a âv11 styleâ version released almost 2 years ago in Singapore, and I was almost in the process of ordering one. Glad we have the same version now here
Thank you as always for your very thorough review đ I đ Vacuum Wars
You are so welcome!
This channel is easily the best source for impartial reviews if you're buying a new vacuum.
One thing I'd love to see added though, is a decibel test, which measures the vacuums noise at the different power levels.
This could include all the Dyson, RugDoctor and Bissell machines. This would be so useful, thanks
This was an excellent and thorough review. Thank you
My pleasure!
I love your methodology! I'm a numbers person, and it's good to see objective results and that if you come up with a new test, you do it with the previously reviewed vacuums as well for comparability. Do you plan on reviewing the new Miele Triflex HX2?
Thanks so much for this amazing review.
That green laser light is a must-have
I'm still useing my Dyson V6 I got at goodwill for 12 dollars with a third party battery. These vacuums are just so usefull if you live in a small space!
Nice find!
Your reviews are so freaking good.
Thanks!
Great review! Seems like the perfect vacuum!
I just got one, The v12 detect slim fluffy and I am already loving it! Itâs a hit heavy and tall for me when I use the adjustable attachment since Iâm 4â11 and petite but workable. I enjoy lazer feature and seems fun to clean and use all around. I was supposed to just buy the Digital Slim Fluffy but was advised to this one instead! Glad to have switched last minute!
Great to hear!
Thank you so much for the review!! I was really torn because the v15's keep being out of stock on dyson while this has a start button and smaller size. But man idk if I can use it on my multiple carpet room home... appreciate this so much!
Another great video from the king of vacuum review videos! đ
Glad you like them!
Yeahhh!
Thanks mate! Much appreciated. I picked this up a week ago and it's been fantastic...except the bin really is real small. I have to empty it twice before the battery runs out. Not too big a deal though, takes 30 seconds.
Glad to hear you are happy with it!
We have owned and still own several Dyson products. I canât explain the level of frustration we are experience with Dyson Support in resolving a problem with our V12. In less than a year the Motorbar cleaner head is inoperable and doesnât work. So far we have been sent two replacement cleaner heads. Both were the wrong heads. Itâs has been such a time consuming experience, with any resolution in sight. We are looking into unloading and selling all of our Dyson purchases and will tell everyone we know to reconsider their own purchases.
Great video! Would you recommend this over the Lupe vacuum for hair pick up and detangling as well as multi-surface vacuuming?
Great review. And your kitty is adorable!
Thank you! đ
Did I miss that it has a one-touch on/off button? I think thatâs a huge upgrade, I hate having to push the previous trigger the whole time.
I know this is not exactly your area, but I trust your reviews whole-heartedly. Is there a way you could do a video on hard wood floor restoration? Every time I try to do research I always come up with contradictory information about what products to use.
This one seems even better for my long hair. Thank you for the review âïž
Great review again. What do you recommend. V11 or V12 .
Love your reviews! I went to the comparison site but am still on the fence about whether to get the Lupe or the Dyson V12. Will you be doing a review of these two cordless vacuums or these two with similar category cordless vacuums? Thank you!!
Great review, thank you. I just brought one and saw this review. Glad I made the right decision
We hope you enjoy it!
I finally picked up the V12 and I love it! It's expensive but worth the money. I have a male husky and hardwood floors and the attached worked really good! You can see where you missed and how much is there by the laser. I was tired of dragging out my have Kirby vacuum upright I've used for over 25 years.
Glad you are happy with it!
I really appreciate these catnip moments. đș
Love the cat ending Chris
Thanks!
@@VacuumWars anytime your cat reminds me of my neighbors cat
This one seems to be the best compromise of them all. I think that I'll might actually get one
Great video as always
Thanks!
Those hand held Dysons look like they'd be formidable weapons when battling dirt. Dyson should include a holster as a an accessory. đ
I briefly tested both of the cooler, newer Dyson vacuums, and I found that on normal mode the bigger V15 Detect was quite a bit stronger on my low pile carpet than the smaller V12 Detect Slim. On normal mode the V12 Detect Slim just felt lack luster to me on carpet suction power, it did not feel confident, unless you use turbo mode, which drains the battery exceedingly fast and only lasts about 5 minutes. Even on turbo mode it still felt like the weaker unit, you get a feeling that the smaller unit is trying way too hard and may wear out eventually. Turbo mode on the V15 Detect felt perhaps too strong for normal use, which is as it should be. While battery life on both units on normal mode should be good enough, I would still purchase a second battery to have charged up and ready to go.
In the end, the better carpet performance is the biggest deciding factor for me, even though I only have one bedroom of carpet and perhaps a future living room throw rug. Although both Dysons should be great for hard floor surfaces. The V15 Detect also has a better overall package with its bigger dust collection cylinder and the better multi purpose vaccum head. And itâs added weight was OK for me, I did not initially find the smaller one be that compelling on just size alone. However, the newer V12 Detect Slim still has the much better push button start method vs the older V15 Detect gun trigger method, which is potentially very tiresome. I just hope they eventually update the V15 Detect to have a push button start, as the V15 Detect is the far better unit in my estimation.
I love your videos
Do you know if V11 accessory tools fit V12 slim? Great video đđŸ
Thank you for another great review We watched and ended up with a new V12 Detect Slim Fluffy 2 days ago.. Our V11âs trigger button stopped functioning last week (after 2.5yrs).
Our personal opinion is the V12 is so much better in terms of :
1) no more trigger (the V11 trigger stopped working after 2.5yrs). It was a pain having to press the trigger all the time. Now itâs just an on and off switch which is great. Less tiring and itâs easier to grip the handle without the trigger.
2) the screen showing the different modes and particles pick up is cool
3) the laser light is fantastic esp when used at night. Really shows up all the dust that we may miss. It illuminates and the greenlight is pleasing to the eye.
4) Much easier to manoeuvre because of the lighter weight when compared to the V11.
5) Suction power is still the same.
6) The battery is easy to change if needed.
With the V11, inorder to repair the trigger, they had to change alot of parts. Thatâs why we decided to get the V12 Detect Slim Fluffy (we donât have carpets).
The smaller dust bin is not an issue for us as we live in a moderate size apartment. We empty the bin after each cleaning rather than accumulate. There was some instruction to let the previous V11 machine cool down before charging to let the battery last longer - so we decided to do the same for the V12.
Frankly, if one has a V11 and itâs still working well, I donât think there is a need to upgrade to the V12 if you have no issues with the weight or the trigger of the V11.
I m going to order one which one should i buy V11 or V12
As always great vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is very helpful
That is great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Could you do a video comparing premium vacuums?
Iâve had the v12 slim for about a week. Dyson sells all the replacement parts except for the wand. So if you switch out the heads often (I have a mix of floor types), it can get a bit tiresome to flip the vacuum over and fiddle with the swap. A second wand would make the change outs a lot easier. Other than that Iâm really happy with it.
hadnt thought of that. good point
Because then you'd technically have 2 vacuums well not fully. But.... but yea would be great to have extra wand
Did you mention anything about the power on/off switch? Trigger? Button? Lock?
I like the auto scensor,that's really neat@
As always thank you for your work ! I am a bit upset that I would not be able to use my other heads on the V12 but the light weight for such results is really appealingâŠ
Yeah it's really stupid that they changed the attachments...
Even tho they are the same really
@@SuperDeinVadda It's not stupid when customers are seen as $$$.¹¹
Looking at get a Dyson. But this is the only one I am considering because of the power button instead of the trigger
Hope you'll review the new V8. Maybe compare it to V12.
Have you tested the tineco carpet shampooer yet? Itâs supposed to dry the carpet as well. Iâm interested in buying it but Iâm waiting to see you review it first so I know itâs worth the price.
Any thoughts about the V12 Detect Slim and the normal V12 Slim? The 'Detect' is only the showing of the particals?
hi love your channel but I'm a bit bummed out you didn't review the shark vortex canister vacuum yet.
V12 and V15 have quite different universal head. The difference is that V15's one automatically adjusts speed of the roller depending of detected floor type.
This one looks like a nice alternative to a v15! Iâm hoping to see you review the Samsung bespoke jet and the new tineco s15 in the future! Love your vids as always!
We are finishing up a review of the Tineco S15 now! It will be available tomorrow at 4 EST!
Can you please compare this to the Dewalt DCV501H ? Looks like does exactly what the bigger Dyson cordlesses do, with a standardized/replaceable battery that people already probably have a couple of at home from their other tools.
Great video as always. I am confused between v10 absolute and v12 slim as both are retailing at then same price in area. The v12 bin is significantly sma than the v10 but it something that would be a point not to consider v12 over v10?
Now I know I need one.
Should I get the basic fluffy version or the absolute?
What is your view on the Soniclean Whisperjet C2 canister vacuum?
My best investment. I got it on Black Friday for 500 plus tax. And got 75 cash back on one of those apps that offer cash back. But if I had to buy another one (if my house was bigger) I wouldnât think about it twice. My gas is 90% wood floor and tile and it does the job. Any big chunks you still have to pick up. But hairs. Dust.and decent sides crumbs. Is really easy to clean
Please please do a comparison on the Bissell Big Green vs the new Bissell Big Pet Pro!
I just bought this and I love it! Itâs wonderful.
Glad you like it!
Would this world good for a car?
@@rubybishaa1477 itâs decent, but I wouldnât say it s great at cleaning my truck.
hi! I have watched the v15 and v12 video now and am still contemplating between the two. Do you have a comparison page on your website?
Does the late of a gate on the motorhead result in it stalling on thick carpets?
You should test the new bissell big green.
Could you please tell me what would be the best vacuum for deep clean a picking up dog hair if I have both carpet and tile all over the house??
> it must have been a monumental engineering feat to make it happen and I think people will really like it.
Very few people appreciate the kind of engineering work that goes into a well designed and tested product like a Dyson and as an engineer working on technology that goes into the guts of a product like this, I'm glad to see the bottom line from Vacuum Wars.
These new ones are okay but the V7 isComplete trash can after a year. Iâll research more on how to maintain them but itâs so bad rn⊠& their air purifiers tested lower than a box fan and a single air filter so they can fooq off properly. The main attachment that makes the vacuum handheld doesnât even suck up dog food or water bottle caps because itâs too small of an opening so obviously thatâs a marketing scam right there. Air blows directly in your face and also in regular vacuum mode it literally doesnât even suck up dog food so⊠I literally despise them but these new ones are looking so good Iâm debating on getting jet 90 or one of these new dyson designs kinda like the Omni-glide. I just need that unit to suck up a piece of dog food. is it that hardâŠ.. đ„Ž also sorry this is messy texts. super tired & using voice to text lol I just hate them so much but dang these new ones look good. If anyone cares help me decide the jet or one of these ? So torn đŸ 99% sure the deciding factor is going to be who has the clean station. Iâm about to look it up but I donât know if Dyson has one I feel like they should though. That would be đ«¶đ«¶
Alsooo, I need one w the most power because four dogs and a busy restaurant to clean but light weight is my fave đ
This isn't engineering, and people don't appreciate it either. Look at apple. People buy this for the brand recognition, lgs and Samsungs have better placement for their on buttons, are lighter, and the Samsungs have a lot better of a dust bin for emptying and not making a massive mess. Their batteries are junk and don't last long at all, and degrade rapidly. They're disposable like junk shark vacuums, and vacuum wars unfortunately shills to both brands. Commerical or high end vacuum makers make cordless vacuums that mop the floor with these in power and utility, but aren't marketed like dyson and sold at big box stores, and if they were and they were actively demoed, people wouldn't buy dyson anymore
@@alexpetree2038 which samsung do you prefer?
I've been shopping for a cordless vac for a week, have put a lot of time into researching online and having a tough time. I think I feel what you're saying in my gut, about "disposable junk" - I paid almost a thousand for my 30 year old corded Kenmore and it still works great. I don't feel like paying many hundreds for disposable junk.
I want something reliable, that doesn't get a bunch of hair spun around the roller and not too heavy.
Hi there, I have been searching for a good cordless vacuum for carpeted stairs and car cleaning. We are from New Zealand where only the major brands are available such as Tineco, Bessel, Shark, Hover, etc. Would you pretty please recommend one? Thanks in advance. đ
Iâm torn between this and the shark vertex thatâs both a prime deal which one do you recommend?
You didn't talk about the new on/off button that replaces the finger trigger. It's a massive reason to buy this! Also, only powered cleaner heads from other v8 - v15 are not compatible with the v12, but all the non-powered brush tools will fit just fine.
Good point! Thanks!
Great review as always. Just bought a V12, and I was immediately looking for additional accessories. I have read that while the powered attachments are not interchangeable between models, all the unpowered "red-button" ones are, all the way back to V7, which the Dyson website also seems to indicate. Is this correct?
The major concern we have seen is the differences in power specs, so the unpowered ones would be a safer bet. We can't promise that all of them will work together, so we recommend checking with Dyson.
How many passes and how fast do you vacuum when doing the deep clean test on carpet? Wondering how many passes I should make for a 100% deep clean on carpetsâŠ.
So I watched like almost all your videos What is the best one for just picking up crumbs , dirt etc from kids , downstairs on hardwood
Flooring ? No carpet besides one area rug I canât afford a dyson v15 lol But I canât make up my mind after watching all your videos
Can you please test out one of the new Tinco Carpet Cleaners?
Nice video
Can you test out the hart vacuums
What is the maximum square footage home do you recommend for the v12?
how does it compare to the Riccar cordless?
Does it needs to be on charger whole time or only when the battery is low?
Can you do a compilation of the best bagged vacuums? I hate having to go outside every time I want to empty the bin of my Shark NV352.
Henry Quick is a bagged cordless stick vacuum just released in the UK. Now if they upgrade to a non-hair-wrap power bar they'll really have something they could release worldwide.
How about the V11 vs V12? Can pick them up for about the same price.
When you test with hair you should try to inbed the hair. Also you could combine the hair with dirt instead of by its self. Just a suggestion.
If there are drops of water on the ground will this ruin the vacuum?
Do a review of the Quantum X water filter PLS!
at 3:36 there is some weird distortion as you vacuum the candy. whats going on there ?
Such a cute kitty...
have you seen the new refreshed dyson v8?
You'll have to do a review of the Halo Capsule. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons online between that and Dyson and given Dyson's rather disingenuous use of version specific mounts and connectors I think there are a lot of people interested in seeing a genuine competitor.
So I bought The v12 and I love it. The laser itâs amazing but every time I use it and itâs full charge only gives me 30 min. Should I return it and get the v11 animal? I saw your video about the v11 animal and how the suction is better than v11 turque. I think Iâm returning mine what should I do ?
Could you test Dreame V12?
I want to get a Dyson v8 absolute but I have animals and hard floors only so I might have to get the v8 animal and just buy the soft roller separately
Does anyone know the lifetime expectancy of dyson batteries or specifically for the V12? Does it stay alive even if stored for a couple months?
