      @@JeramieLu Thank you! I just finished 3 editorials, a corporate session and a wedding this week with the holster - totally successful!!! It's simply amazing to be able to bend down & fix dresses, open a reflector etc. without having to put my camera down. Can't believe I didn't try this sooner! Spider accidentally sent me two right mount plates so I'm trying to get that resolved but got a lens collar plate in the meantime so that is a temporary fix if I wear it on the left. My Spider system is now smaller, lighter and more comfortable. Now I can actually use my trouser front pockets whilst using the pro speed belt. Hi Jeramie :)
    I'm Hugo, thanks for your video, very helpful. I have some questions, and perhaps you could help me.
    I think and agree with you, SpiderPro seems the most confortable option for working, workflow... but i'm looking for something like more discreet... and I see features of SpiderLight and PeakDesign (used without special belts and pads...) perhaps more like this... just with a good leather belt, so... knowing that driving and handling would be not so good as the SpiderPro... do you think SpiderLight and PD Capture 3 are enough strong to support an EOS 5D (simple without grip) + 24-70 2.8 L lens ... as maximun weight and size ? (and other smaller combinations).
    I like the simple and discreet design of PD c3... but I'm not sure about supporting the weight with this DSLR combination and its use, comfort and walking... I don't need a super fluid and fast way, I can take a pair of seconds to take or let the camera, don't need necessarily super fast like spiderPro, but want to be confortable and secure...
    And I suposse in the middle of both could be the SpiderLight, but I don't know if the design supports better or worse this DSLR combination that the PD v3.... ? what do you think ?? Something I think don't like neither, are the big plates, specially on PRO model, and prominent metal pins of Spider to keep the cameras in my bags... scratches... but understand the ability and speed using while taking pictures...
    Thanks a lot from Galicia, Spain.
    Hugo

      Hi Jeramie,
      Finally i took one PeakDesign, and perhaps will take the second one, i'll see...
      I know Spider is faster and more confortable, I'm sure, specially into a studio or if you don't walk or move a lot, or outside, but i need it for taking photos outside, and don't like the camera and lenses moving and swinging around... so i decided to consider these aspects of the Peak combinated with a light and thin standard strap VS the speed of the Spider. Another reason is sthetic, because i prefer a small plate... and a good leather belt, ... and don't like that kind of pads and belt either... specially in cases like a wedding...

    Reverse the direction of the lens collar, then you'll be able to use the 70-200. Secondly, maybe you should try a shoulder strap system instead of the belt. Third, you should use the wrist strap when you're hiking with the camera in your hands. I've done that all over the world, and it allows you to really tighten down the security of it in your hand if you're not docking it every time you're not shooting.

      @@JeramieLu Jeramie, you've moved AWAY from using the Spider Holster? I just received mine, and find that the pro plate v2 tends to get in my way when using the vertical/battery grip with my Nikon FX DSLR... trying to see if I can get comfortable with it, quickly! What are you using now, if not the Spider Holster Pro?

    The problem with the spider system is that it’s ugly. It might be functional but ugly. At the weddings I prefer to wear the Hold Fast Money Maker dual strap.

    • @JeramieLu
      @JeramieLu  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes!!! You are so right!!! This is my biggest complaint about spider. It’s old man status for sure. I use both systems frequently and even switch out mid wedding depending on what I am doing.

      @@JeramieLu At the weddings your brand image matters. Your potential clients could be at the wedding too. Who wants to run around with a holster looking like someone’s uncle. The spider system just screams “ I am an obese balding middle aged manager wearing my Blackberry phone on the holster on the belt in the early 2000s”. It has never been sexy. With the Hold Fast you surely will get compliments from guests.

      @@Classical416 LOL... Totally. I have 8 Holdfast Dual straps with me at all time... I coordinate with my clothes. But I shoot a ton in Tahoe so sometimes the swinging doesn't work for me when climbing. Then comes out the spider. I have spoken to spider a few times about this.... They don't care.

    7:39 Did I get this right? You brought a belt, which accidently opens with your "real" belt, both not part of PeakDesign, and blaming them for that? Why didn't you put the stuff on your original belt?

    • @JeramieLu
      @JeramieLu  Před 2 lety

      Lol. Peak doesn’t make a belt!!!! You buy the capture clip and clip it to any belt you want. I chose something tough but only requires a 2 point release. Spider has a 3 point release.
      Good?

    What a disappointment. I got the two camera spider holster. The long lens attachment don't fit on the Sony 100-400mm or the Sony 200-600, Pitiful. Luckily I have some Wimberly lens feet that the mounts fit on. Also I tried to remove a pin from each of the four plates that I bought and they were all frozen in place. I used a pair of pliers on the allen wrench and got one lose on the camera mount. But I also stripped one of the allen holes on one of the lens plates. Now I have a lens plate with two pins and another camera plate with none. Double pitiful. Hard to believe these people are staying in business.

      Yeah I had some issues too. Did you call the company? They usually will replace it or you can even send it in and they can do it for you.

      Jeramie Lu The company contacted me after I put the review on their site. They offered to replace if I sent them mine first. Then I would have been without a lens mount for weeks. I opted for their new version 2 lens mount. It works better and they have two pins. Also got two handgrips since the offered me a 20% discount.
