You could use a kayak cart? That way you can completely setup in the parking lot and tote your yak to the water. That is what I do if I don’t bring my trailer.
Some water access ramps are pretty steep. I wouldn't want to pull my kayak up the hill, if I didn't have a trailer. So, launching from the truck be seems like a good option.
Any reason you don’t go ahead and attach the TM before launching to eliminate one more item? Definitely like the idea of pre-rigging and going straight into the water from the truck. Great video!!!
Great question, you probably could if you loosened the strap to allow more room between the Trolling motor and the truck bed. I did however launch it a few times with the front facing out and put the Trolling motor on, the only issue was where my battery and Trolling motor are on the front, it dipped down a bit and allowed water into my hatch. However it is possible and if you backed the truck in further it would probably allow less water in. Thanks for watching!
@taylorgentry9216 I will typically take the rods and Trolling Motor off and put everything similar to the way I had it when launching. Then I will back the truck down to the water and connect a rope or strap to the front of the kayak. Then I'm able to stand in the bed and pull the kayak up into the truck and strap it down. If you're on a steep ramp it's good to have a strap ready to connect the kayak once it's in the truck because it will sometimes slide while trying to connect a cinch or rachet strap. Thanks for watching!
@@thebasstutordrive down the ramp in forward. Use your dolly to roll the kayak to the back of your truck. Set the bow on, then aimply lift the stern and let gravity slide it into the bed for you.
About how far into the water do you take your truck, say using the rear axle as a reference?
