ACER ASPIRE 5742 take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly

  • Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your ACER ASPIRE 5742 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
So, just watch this video and repair your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!
    regazzz
P.S. There is no reassemble video - that's why I have created a special channel for Backwards Playback Support for
each video that is missing reassemble. It is not the best possible solution obviously but better than nothing.
    Find a link at the end of each video. #recycling #recycle #upcycling #zerowaste #sustainability #reuse #environment

Disassembled my Acer Aspire 5742G. Cleaned went - everything seems to work, happy so far. Managed that if you miss one screw at the location where wireless card is - when system boots up, it doesn't recognize it. So to all those who are about to disassemble their laptops be careful with all the screws - they need to go back to where they came from.

Great video, BUT, something very important is that first you need to take apart the DVD, then from underneath push the keyboard, then remove the screws beneath it, then proceed to take apart the screws from the main support of the screen (i don't know the translation), because doing it this way you may (I know i did) damage the plastic/break it due the weight of the screen itself.
    Good video tough!

hey buddy, my 5742g is always overheating, probably need to clean the fan. In order to access it, do I have to unscrew all these screws at the back or am I fine by simply taking out the keyboard and unscrewing the screws below it?

  • @jesvinsjoseph
    @jesvinsjoseph Před 11 lety

The mini PCLe bay i'm talkin about is there at the top left of the casing with a vented cover in the 5742 and the 5742g(Hope you've seen it).Its empty though and I was wondering if i could get any component in that especially an express card and get an external gpu running. Do let me know your thoughts on these. Thanks again. Also about the i7s its guarenteed (95%) that they won't work to their full potential because of their wattage. The motherboard by acer only agrees to 35 Wattage.

I think I need to open up my ACER Aspire 5742z-4640, I've been having some fan problems. Occasional unusual very loud whirring (NOT normal fan activity, much louder), thankfully shutting off for a few minutes has cured it thus far. I guess it's getting clogged up or something. Never gone into a laptop case before, scared to do it. This model sadly doesn't have a little panel just over the fans, which in hindsight is bad. This does make it look pretty easy to get in... but still... pretty scared to try.

thanks man I opened my acer and applied new thermal past now the max temp is 80C when I'm running prime 95 and furmark at the same time.
There is only one thing there was a plastic sticker around the gpu wich I couldn't clean perfectly. My max temp of the gpu is 78C so I'm not worried about overheating or something but can you remove that plastic? Just wondering for the next time I open my acer.

I'm not sure if this has been asked but my computer screen broke a few days ago so I decided to connect my laptop to another monitor. All of the sudden my VGA port became loose so I have to hold it up in order for the image to show up so I'm guessing that the port inside itself is loose. Would I have to solder the port back in or is this a defect or what? I'm not looking to disassemble my laptop just to find out I need to do something else.
    Thanks :)

do I need to unscrew the hard drive if I just want to get down to the fans? I see it's pretty much just the back screws + the keyboard on here, and me being clunky, I don't want to risk misplacing the hard drive... also, thanks for the keyboard part, I was wondering why my front cover wouldn't budge, I'd never think of looking for those small "buttons" you push with the screwdriver.

4.03 I just took palmrest off and fan is right there, visible and I think at that point you can make decision should you remove it or not. To take fan out you have to flip motherboard because somewhere around 6.35 you can see that fan is taped with black tape to a heatsink... it maybe possible to remove ti without taking motherboard out, if you apply little more pressure (I am not sure), so, it is up to you.

Can the acer aspire's intel i3 - 2.4gig 370m (non turbo tech) be replaced with an i5 2.66gig (with turbo tech)? Acer tell me there might be compatibility issues. Or would i have to change the motherboard too if so to which one?
