thanks for checking out dreamcatcher \:D/ 'reason' perhaps isn't the best song to start a dreamcatcher journey with because it's their 6th anniversary song, a gift to their fans - insomnias. that's why the song is somewhat of an anthem and the video shows their journey. unlike many kpop groups you heard about, dreamcatcher is from a small company and started out at rock bottom. instead of following the kpop mold, they chose to make the music they want and mix rock/metal influences in an country that doesn't like rock. so ironically while they were ignored in korea for years, they built up an international fan base that kept them going to the point they were touring the world and making headlines in korea. so this song like many of their songs is a thank you for their fans, the 'reason' they keep going. one of their original goals was to make rock more popular in korea and their international success has slowly influenced other kpop groups to incorporate rock into their songs. one thing about dreamcatcher is all their songs are different. each incorporates different elements of genres and sub-genres from all time periods but since they rarely revisit the same genre/sub-genre, each song is pretty unique. unlike mainstream pop, many of dreamcatcher's songs aren't about love but rather inspirational and encourage people not to give up on their dreams, hence part of the reason for their name. they also stress to stay true to yourself because achieving a dream while losing yourself is an empty goal. other songs are about real life issues like their dystopia trilogy(scream, boca, odd eye) which is a criticism of the internet/social media. the current trilogy they are on, apocalypse(maison, vision) expose mankind's destructive nature. so it's really hard to recommend a song because if you ask 10 fans, they will give you 100 different songs. their way of incorporating different genres makes their discography diverse and you will like some songs more than others due to personal preference. perhaps you can continue with their current trilogy with 'maison' since it won them some recognition in korea.

I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher! Can you imagine this song live? With InSomnia (their fandom name) going Whoooo-whoooaaa and them singing over it? 😊 I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Their newest Trilogy of music videos(only the first two have currently been released) starts with "Maison." Their last trilogy, the Dystopia series starts with the song "Scream," and then of course you could go all the way back to the beginning and start with their debut song "Chase Me." Though, as I said it doesn't really matter, the quality of Dreamcatcher's music is extremely consistent, and if you liked this you will like a lot of their music. Yeah, metal, not so sure about that. They have very few songs what incorporates any metal theme. They have a handful, but that's all. And it's not metal like Babymetal, Judas Priest, or any other metal band, more like an "idea" than true metal. They have more rock influenced songs like Reason. But at the end they are a pop group. :-) As someone who listen to metal, hard rock and punk since the mid 90's I absolutely love what Dreamcatcher do with the genres. They are the genre.
