    DO IT THE LAURELIAN WAY!
Flexible, Innovative, and Challenging. These are some of the words that come into my mind when I've watched this video. It tackles about the Flexible Learning that we have been experiencing right now because of our situation and it also gives us a glimpse of learning in a whole new level which is in the Laurelian way. It inspires us to be responsible and productive students so that our time and effort will not go to waste, it also motivates us to do our very best so that we can make the most out of this new semester. All in all, Flexible Learning might not be an easy path for us, but we must always remember that nothing is impossible if we study and learn the Laurelian way, and that is by studying hard and focusing on our goals while still enjoying the things that we love.

HUMSS 2B - Mandarin is such a unique and fascinating language rich with the manifestations of the Chinese culture. I look forward to learning a little bit more about its origins and few of their literature as well, as I believe that would be an effective way to start understanding a fraction of the language. I'm also excited to learn how to write Chinese characters accurately. Overall, I hope we all have a fun time learning mandarin this semester!!!

As a student we were so thankful that we have technologies that can be used in asynchronous and synchronous. We also learn how to self study and to advance study. I expect to our class that we will learn a lot hope that our class will be so fun because we will know all about foreign language. As a future seafarers we need this kind of subject so we can communicate in other nationality.

Synchronous and Asynchronous learning are both type of learning the students need, in the way that we learn from the class and we learn from ourselves.. this pandemic situation helps us to develop ourselves and learn from our own mistakes and to continuously adapt to the situation of learning. i expect that the class would be much fun in the way of learning a new language, as a future mariner it is a stepping stone to patch the gap of communication specially to new nationality.

For a time like this wherein students are not yet allowed to go to school, it is really a test of patience to both students and teachers. However, amidst the challenge of the pandemic, its is indeed a blessing that there are schools like LPU who are flexible enough to continue providing quality education to their students. Since we are in the comforts of our homes doing self-paced learning where there is no instructor watching you all the time, I still expect interactive learning. For our marathon class, since we will just have it in five weeks, I expect engaging activities during our synchronous and asynchronous classes that will still guarantee full learning. Despite my distance from my professor and classmates, I hope I will be able to expand my knowledge in the industry, especially in the land and water transportation and develop and learn new skills.
Of course, all these goals and expectations requires discipline and effort from my part. From months of doing online classes, I have learned the importance of organization. And so, as I enter this new semester, I promise myself to be organized. Starting from organizing and setting my schedule to avoid procrastination up to organizing my room, stuffs and e-files. Above all, I have also prepared myself wit a better mindset. Discipline, hard work and patience. Throughout the sem, I will incorporate all these three things to achieve my goals. May we have a fruitful semester!

As we adapt to the new way of learning, there are things that each of us has to prepare in order to continue the education even through online platforms only. I know that this pandemic is the primary cause of all the adjustments we are doing today, but we have to face it, we have to deal with it. In the beginning of online classes, I know there will be difficulties, there will be connection/technical errors, interruptions in every homes, and some other noises that may be encountered along the way. So as the day of online class approaches, I ready the things I will be needing such as: strong wifi connection, a conducive study area where I can focus, papers and pens for note taking, food to keep myself active thoughout the session, and most importantly Myself. I made myself ready for this new way of learning, I told myself to get prepared, be on time, and as much as possible avoid procrastination or excessive perfectionism as this new way of learning will test my discipline and my holistic characteristic.
The new way of learning like online platforms are just temporary, we will get back to normal soon. Just keep the faith, be motivated, and do what you have to do because SUCCESS IS IN OUR HANDS.

During this pandemic, we are now focusing on new normal ways for living and learning. This new normal thought us that we must spend time with our family while staying at our homes. Learning now becomes a challenge bought by this pandemic which become through online. The Laurelian Learning Experience introduce us the ways on how we can learn from our homes: the synchronous learning, asynchronous learning and the hybrid learning. My goal for this marathon class is to learn new knowledge, have a prepared mind to grow and familiarize with the terms and its definition that might be used as a future hospitality practitioner. My willingness to achieve this goal is be focused on getting more understanding to gain the opportunity to keep on track and can share some thoughts about learning this course.

The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. Class sizes for online courses are often the same as face-to-face classes, so you will still get the same healthy teacher-to-student ratio you’d expect on campus. Although you won’t be meeting at regularly scheduled times, course work is generally delivered and due weekly, so you’ll want to stay on top of your time management skills.

This new normal of learning seems stressful yet substantially helps you to know more about yourself. From this, I was enlightened that I put so much time with little things rather than my school works that led me to cram behind the deadlines. I expect that this marathon class will help me be more responsible with my tasks and requirements. Being responsible with the tasks given to you are one of the important things in hospitality industry that is why I need to practice it as soon as possible. Moreover, I also expect that we will be having more efficient and strategized learning engagement that will probably help us in the near future. My goals are similar as my previous goals and it is to have good grades this marathon class and learn new things. In order to achieve this, I am willing to spent most of my time in studying and doing my requirements ahead of time and be fully committed with my courses taken.

But as time passed by, somehow we already adopt this new learning system and as for me, I am willing to learn more even in this time of pandemic.
Learning a foreign language might be difficult for us to handle in this kind of situation because of different circumstances but we have the presence of our professor to teach us and guide us throughout this course. On the other hand, I am expecting to learn more about the Mandarin Language, especially how to write it and speak it clearly as I can because I know that I can use it in the future wherein I can meet different foreigns including Chinese people as I step in the Maritime Industry.

With the recent happenings in the world for the past months, it is indeed difficult to absorb this kind of set-up dominated by technologies and internet connection; yet these kinds of changes should not be a hindrance in continuing education especially in learning new things. Innovation is vital, as learning is also essential.
This new normal is not as ‘new’ as we consider it. This might actually the ‘better normal’ that our generation is waiting for. With the advancement of technology, it is certainly inevitable for us to neglect the use and service that this modern world is trying to offer.
In the subject Foreign Language (FL), even though it will be done virtually, I am actually looking forward to studying this because for me language is interesting, and having an opportunity to appreciate and understand another language aside from my own mother tongue is captivating and fascinating. Owing to the fact that I am also fond of reading and watching Asian literature and series. Lastly, I don’t have any specific expectation for this class, I just actually want to have fun while learning. 😊

We are doing different method like going through online classes and by downloading applications that will help us to acquire the lessons we needed to learn. And we need to help ourselves to make it easier or better to understand what we are studying in each subject. As a student who learns easier in a face-to-face setup, I will train my mind to understand my professors as I see them on screen that I need to accept it and imagine that I am in a real classroom. It is better that we stay at home and do not go out first to maintain our safety.

    - Distance learning has become an essential medium to all of the teachers and students during the pandemic. Where all the students can still continue their studies through technology. However, there are also disadvantages such as the difficulty on staying motivated and internet connection problems during online classes. It is a sudden change for all, but thinking in a bright side, it is a challenge for all to do the things independently which encourages everyone to be attentive and persevere. And through this distance learning, communication is important since the platform that everyone uses is through social medias and networks. And as one of the students who were still having difficulty to cope well in this online classes, I'm still eager and curious to learn more about the lessons that will be discussed as all of these subjects are beneficial to enhance our knowledge and skills for future purposes. Learning foreign languages is also necessary for career growth. There might be a day where you will encounter people who has different cultures and speaks different languages, and the best way to understand and deliver a message to them is by communicating. So what I'm looking forward to this subject is to help us enhance our memory, critical-thinking skills, the ability to multitask, better listening skills, and improve our verbal and spatial abilities.

In preparation for the new normal, I have found ways on how to have my education with convenience and ease. For example, I have downloaded numerous apps that will aid me during the semester. I have also read about facts on how to adapt well to the "new normal" for my education. Moreover, I stay updated for the announcement of the school on how will the students go through the semester. I should also be updated on the latest technologies that will make online classes better. I have found new reading apps or materials that will help me understand the lessons more. Little by little, we will learn to adjust in this so-called "new normal".

And in this upcoming online class, I cleaned my room and find a place or spot where I can put my study table and prepared some of my things like my laptop, earphones, notebooks and also I made a ‘motivation jar‘ that can help me a lot to motivate myself everyday. Also I make sure that all of my accounts for Portal, LMS and Microsoft Teams are activate and also download those application needed for my online class like Microsoft 365, Zoom etc. And the most important thing that i did was to prepare myself, Practice time management wherein I made a To Do List and Weekly Reminder to track the things I need to do or pass, Eliminate distractions and also Treat online class seriously.

We had to adjust in different ways in which it is not easy for everyone to access the needed resources for online class. Specifically for me, I am currently only using my mobile phone and i don't have a wifi connection so it really is difficult to adjust to this. To prepare for this, we had to download several apps and have different accounts depending on the app that would be used by the differen professors. I also fixed a suitable and comfortable area at home to make me feel that I am in school. I hope that i can easily adapt to this and that this would be helpful to me and my co students.

To be prepared for the upcoming online classes, I will choose not to procastinate anymore. I will manage my time wisely and not put tomorrow what I can do today. Extending my patience, understanding and appreciation is another thing to do especially to our dear teachers who are doing their very best to continue providing the quality education we deserve. Taking a break once in a while is also must. Doing some stretches after an online activity, looking at the greens outside next to a zoom meeting or just drinking water before attending a new class. Last but not the least is to always keep in my mind that a small progress is still a progress and this too shall pass.

I think the best things I could do in preparation for the online classes are to improve my learning style and attitude because if I have no discipline or if I'm not motivated at all, these would all be pointless. I understand that the students are not the only ones adjusting to this type of system, so I must consider the efforts of everyone especially the teachers who are exerting effort on making online classes work. I know that it would be hard because we're not used to this kind of education system but it is a give and take situation. Giving feedbacks would be really appreciated to improve the teaching and learning style. If the students would not voice out their problems, it wouldn't be solved. Open communication between teachers and students is the key for this to work.

We are left with no other choice but to adjust on our situation and to follow the rules and regulations given by the government because that's the right thing to do, to slow down the spread of the virus and hopefully put an end to it. I'm lucky enough to have a chance to be enrolled and experience online class because some of us are having a hard time during this pandemic. For me, encouraging ourselves and strong will are the most important thing to do to surpass any challenges we are facing right now, bacause what we are facing right now is something that we're not prepared of. Synchronus learning is a learning that happens at the same time for the instructors and learners, meaning that there is a real-time interaction between them. So the best way is to participate in this online learning to make a process even we are not having face to face classes.

I oppose virtual learning; it is stressful. We waste too many resources and unsurprisingly, its ineffective. Face-to-face interactions are still superior to virtual learning as it allows teachers to observe students and vice versa. However, it is incredibly biased of me to say that virtual learning in all academic institutions are ineffective when in fact, LPU-Batangas stood out from the rest of the universities in this province. In minding the welfare of its students amidst a failure on the government's response to the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic, LPU-Batangas unexpectedly managed to maintain its posture in providing quality education for its students; and made my senior year memorable in a way that I can see it helping me explore my capabilities and options for my future. To summarize, LPU-Batangas has efficiently transferred the Laurelian Learning Experience to virtual learning; and I am most certainly exuberant in experiencing this type of Learning Experience in Mandarin. Looking forward to Mandarin Lessons with you, Doc Mae!

It’s suppose to be the season we’d be rushing to complete our checklist of stuff that we need, trying on new uniforms and getting ecxited to meet new students and professors personally.
But in this time of pandemic our usual routine of getting ready for school has become a rush to get stable internet and device for online classes.
And for us students who took the risk despite of these sudden uncertainties: we will make it! It’s not an easy decision but I believe that it is important to make a progress in this time to build endurance and aguility to succeed.
Here’s how I prapare myself for the upcoming flexible learning:
1.Acceptance and adaption is mandatory to this time of crisis. Acceptance that this is the ‘new normal’ and there would be less physical activities and physically socializing to prevent the waving numbers of covid cases.
    The following adaptation:
•Following the schools set up and dynamic.
•Stable internet and device to use for online class
•Self dicipline to figure out how this set up works for ourselves
    2. Surrounding ourselves with the right people
•Find mentors. This could be our brother, sister, parents or even your professor to guide and challenge us.
•Encourage our classmates to stay commited and will not tolearate our vices
    3. Make a routine.
•Find your learnung place, it could be your room, desk or where you will be mire comfortable. This puts to us a phsycological drive that leads us to zone to study
•Prepare your mental, physical, and spritual being.
    •Creat schedule to avoid procrastination
•Focus and motivated, the real challenge on online class is the temptaion of lying in bed, the lure of social media that could lead us feeling lazy.

When I was just a young kid, I was taught by my parents to dream. To be able to make an impact to the world is what I’ve dreamed of from the start and even until today. Growing up, I’ve learned my capabilities as a person and believed that with those capabilities I can change the world. But uncertainties happen in this world we live in. Coronavirus has led to a worldwide crisis with its effects on humanity. Truth be told, I was worried that this pandemic might restrain me on my way to achieve for greater things in life. Fortunately, I belong to an institution that gives great value to learning and finds way to give us the education we deserve. In this new normal of learning, I prepared myself holistically -physically, mentally, and spiritually.
First, my family who supports my dream in any way possible, makes sure our home stays conducive for a learning environment. Devices and stable internet connection were made ready in our home. I know for a fact that a good learning environment will put me to a psychological drive and will motivate me to study more.
Second, I made sure that I am in a good state of mind. As they say, the only permanent thing in this world is change. Acceptance is what we can only do for the things we have no control at. I admit that I am still learning the ways to cope with the online classes. The process may be not smooth but I will strive more to make sure I adapt to the new ways of learning.
Lastly, I surround myself with the right people. These are the people whom I share my dreams with. Luckily, I have my set of friends and classmates who motivate me and encourage me to stay committed in learning. We also have the whole CITHM staff and professors with us that guide us and show us the right way. I believe that the effort of everyone will make the online classes work. Taking the risk despite of these sudden uncertainties only show that no distance can stop us from being “together” in this fight.
In the whole preparation for the online classes, I realized that we are all together in this battle. I used to believe that I, alone, can change the world. But the current crisis has told me otherwise. This battle requires every hands on board, and it is a very hard one to conquer. But it doesn’t mean that we are losing the battle. I now believe that no matter who we are, if we want to change the world, we can. But we need to work together, fight together, then we will succeed together.

This kind of learning are knew to us, it will make us uncomfortable and need more adjustment for this kind of learnings. We can say that their are more distraction that a student be attempt to do during the online class. So I prepare myself to be more attentive during online class. I also limit myself to open my gadgets during the online class. I also prepare a room that I will use during the online class without the tempation and distraction of what my cousins doing.

This time of pandemic brought different effects on our lives especially on Education. We must go to school through online classes or virtually. In my preparation, I accept the fact that we must go to school and continue our studies even though their is a pandemic. Prepare our device especially our internet connection. We must prepare also ourselves to learn new things even though classes are made through online. We must be still motivated and determined in learning and studying.
Let's embrace this new opportunity of learning and be thankful that everyone is doing their part to live everyday.

Today's new normal is indeed challenging for everyone. We are left with no other choice but to adjust, adapt and cope up with our current situation. It may be a lot different with our usual routines but that shouldn't be a reason for us to lose hope, instead let us be more optimistic because I believe that there's still a brighter future waiting for us. As for other students like me, don't feel unmotivated. We are still lucky enough that despite of having our classes online, we're still privileged with the flexible learning provided by the institution. So probably as for my preparation for the upcoming online class, I would set my priorities first. I would lessen spending time with my social media (but staying active on checking group chats), playing mobile games and watching Netflix. I replaced my apps with the applications which are necessary for my online class like Zoom, Microsoft 365 and etc. I cleaned my room and put motivational quotes in my study desk. I've also prepared some notebooks that I could use to write down notes during the discussion. I'll make sure to always make and check my To Do List and ensure to accomplish them ahead of time. In addition, I've made a back up plan when there will be a technical problem that I encounter. Lastly but the most important is to prepare myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Physically in a way that I let myself get enough sleep and still making myself healthy. While mentally in a way that I will strengthen my mind and maintain having positive outlook in life.Third, emotionally in a way that I wouldn't stress myself so much and build the courage to ask for help when I'll experience some difficulty. Lastly and the most important is spiritually in a way that I'll ask for the guidance and protection of myself and everyone with this new normal.
Let us all welcome this new semester with the new normal just like how we used to be. This isn't and will never be a hindrance for us to learn, to dream and to believe. Pandemic will surely end but our learning should keep going. We are the hope of the world. I can do it. WE CAN DO IT.

    As we have been experiencing in our life, everything has changed. Nowadays as a student, I am looking forward in the midst of adversity. We are on a verge of new normal life. What else will I do as a preparation for the upcoming online class this semester. For me, possible outcome will be such like;
    • PRACTICE TIME MANAGEMENT because time management is a practice discipline. My perspective as a student time can make a difference in everyway.
    • OCCURRENCE OF DISTRACTION it's a disturbance which lead to annoyance.

I know that the battle isn't finish yet cause the pandemic is still there. We're still fighting for our life but we shoudn't stop the life we use to live before. Life must go on, we should keep going. As of today we're live in "New Normal" society. More adjustments, new rules and new life but atleast we can still continue our life, our dreams. Like what I learned in a past few months of being stuck at home, I realized how important the time is. That's why despite of this pandemic, I chose to continue my school. I'll take the risk and the difficulties to pursue my dreams. I know that this opening of school year will be different than before. But atleast despite of this new normal life there's still have ways to continue the school. With the help of technology we still have a chance to learn through online classes. The preparation is not that easy but atleast I should keep trying. Having phone or computers and other gadgets to attend online classes. I can say that I simple prepared for this upcoming online class. That I think it is much better to me if I use it in educational purposes instead of using it to watch videos online or other social media. Even though the internet connection is not kind of fast, I still looking for ways that I can be able to use when the class will start. And also I still have my notebooks and pens even its online class. I know there still many ways to continue this school despite of this pandemic. That's why I still keep trying while there's a way until we can finally back to normal. Until we can see each other again in school.

In this kind of situation we all know it is so dangerous to have a face to face class because is is really risky to belong with a lot of people. So we have this internet to have a class just to make sure the students will be safe. Even though this is a very challenging thing we should still face it for our better future. Just be thankful we are safe and still learning.

This pandemic brought the worst in every situation. It has affected even the biggest sectors in the world. It is really true that even the most unexpected things happen in a very unexepected timing.
One of the most affected things during this pandemic is education. Schools, colleges and universities made drastic changes in order to continue their roles to teach their students even during this time of the pandemic wherein social distancing is greatly needed. They prepare different platforms with the use of technology to spread learning materials and for the professors to reach their students.
I am grateful that I was born in time where technology is improving continually. Information spread in a speed of light. Our generation, even these saddening moments, should be thankful for the fact that we still have ways to proceed and carry on with our education with the use of different methods available using the technology. Because of this, I will make sure that I will use every second of my schedule during online classes worth it. As preparation to this, I will put in mind that this new normal is not easy but I need to get used to it. As a student who learns easier in a face-to-face setup, I will train my mind to understand my professors as I see them on screen that I need to accept it and imagine that I am in a real classroom. I will always think positively. Because what matter most are the learnings I need to ponder.
We all know that this new system in education is not easy. But gradually, we need to accept and get used to it. To look forward to the future that holds us is what we need to do. This pandemic will not stop us from reaching our dreams by continuing our studies using the available methods possible. We should not stop. End COVID-19, not our education.

This situation that we are facing right now is a very challenging scenario for all the students who are willing to continue their schooling becuase it is not face to face basis but we need to do as online class. And expect that it has advantages and disadvantages, we can learn and we will learn if we want and if we cooperate as well. As I prepared, this pandemic won't stop me because I am much willing to learn than to stop because I have my family to support me, pay my tuition and others fees and provide me those things that are needed and helpful to take my online classes. I want to payback those blessings from them by studying hard and being a good Lycean in our University. And most especially to all LPU Teachers that are very ready and active to teach us and guide us to be a knowledgeable students of LPU-BATANGAS. I know that sooner or later we will get out through this situation that we are right now just stay at home and always pray🙏
