Most players smelt cactus for green dye, but I've found cactus farms to be more beneficial when connected to an automatic composter for infinite bone meal.

The problem with that is that I am currently in Minecraft Alpha 1.2.6! There's not even colored wool yet! :D But I think infinite boneneal will be what I do down the line!
