- Showing how to build a hive top feeder and letting everyone know that the correct hole saw size for a hive top feeder jar hole is 71mm. This is the size hole you'll need to cut in the hive top to allow a Ball Mason jar lid to fit snugly in the hole.
Feeding 1:1 sugar to water is great for simulating your bees to draw comb and expand their brood nest.

Thank you very much !!!
Great tip on the exact size for the hole saw. I have been sanding mine and needed to make five more tops. Looks like I can get it in two days on Amazon at the moment. ThanksQ
for the holes that you drilled that didn't work how did you fix them? Just drilled one before I found your video and now i have a lid that falls through the hole, lol.
And it is 87MM 3.4" for wide mouth mason jar. It's a tight fit, but the jar goes in all the way. Maybe you can add that in the video notes.
Good point. I've never used the wide mouth jars for feeders.
Is that 71mm for the small mouth or large mouth jars?
I want to use the larger mouth jars.
71mm for the quart size jar. So, yes, the small ones
Not the gallon size jar.
