Start with an attention grabber, then move to greetings and personal intro. The world's best do it. But I understand if you're not used to it, it feels strange at the start. Almost all my workshop participants have the same first reaction as you. Then they test the attention grabber in front of the live audience and instantly see the difference. Don't think about it, try it out with a real audience 😉 (just make sure you try it with an open-minded, positive attitude)
