The "Glee" cast visited John Burroughs. The Producers said "Glee" was based on John Burroughs "Powerhouse". Oprah gifted Burroughs a brand new Concert Piano and $500,000 for the Music Program. POWERHOUSE was the only school asked because of it being the "muse" for the program. Anyone else saying differently is wrong. This school gives 200% in practice, fundraising and dedication. It takes hundreds of people to run (volunteers and boosters) and keep this wonderful machine going and being one of the top Pop Choirs in the Country. Yes, they among the top in the Nation.
Ian Brennan conceived Glee based on his own experience as a member of the Prospect High School show choir in Mount Prospect, Illinois. The original MOVIE script was written in 2005. Ryan Murphy himself was in Show Choir (in the Midwest as well) and could relate to the script nobody wanted to pick up. Ryan Murphy was from the Midwest himself so that's why the fictitious "High School" took place in the Midwest (Despite actually being filmed at Helen Bernstein in Hollywood). The script was rewritten for television but it's based on their own show choir experience. I can't vouch for the gifts from Oprah, and it sounds fantastic if she contributed to the music program. However, Glee is based on Ian Brennan's experience in show choir at Prospect High School.
Its 1200 at the most for intermediate and 3100 at the most for advanced. Plus i remember speaking with someone from Elite Energy in Ohio in 2010 and he said they charge 4100 but anyway i have to say the experience was most definitely worth all that fund raising.
@SlimShaney08 thanks i graduated 2011( cuz we are a real high school) so the kids who did AGT were powerhouse for 2012 and were mostly new and young and as you noticed on Oprah they were not individually miced like they were for AGT. Show choirs dont individually mic people because it messes up the blend of voices, especially when dancing at the same time. but thats television they either intentionally make you look good or bad sometimes.:P but thanks so much for the kind feedback.
