- Jen Reinmuth-Birch, 51, took the plunge after her new husband convinced her to go back to school to kick start her career.
The mum-of-two had been inspired to become a doctor after seeing the amazing work medical professionals do with children with special needs - which resonated with her as a mum of a boy with autism.
After four years of building up work experience and getting her science qualifications, she was accepted into her dream medical school - Pacific North West University of Health Sciences in January 2021.

Great job! Inspiring!
51 years old and retiring? Who can retire at that age in this economy lol
Well it might explain why she can afford med school tuition and years of being underpaid later as a resident
Lots of people retire in their 50s.
I admire you. You just gained another follower. I am a 48yo mom of 2, and my youngest (8) is autistic. I am currently studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. I currently work as an RN. You represent all of us in your journey to fulfill your dreams❤ We only fail when we don't try. I can't wait to follow and support you on your journey! Cheering from New Jersey❤❤❤❤
Man.. I would hate to be her 15 yrs later .. overworked and underpaid… I thought one gets wiser as they get older.. Guess not..
Say this as a full fledged practicing doc.
Oh my... I'd hate to be 15 years younger and already so jaded and bitter. I hope you were able to find another career where you could find some happiness. It certainly doesn't seem like a job as a physician that involves empathy and caring for others is the right choice for you.
You say this, yet I would bet that you are already overworked, and under paid. The difference between you and this woman is you lack the impetus to tap into your purpose in life. 🤷🏾 You are the person thatost people would hate to be...not her.
4 years medical school, -$250,000 tuition and fees
3-5 years residency, +$60,000/yr salary
+/- 2 years fellowship, +$65,000/yr salary
Imagine graduating at 60 and still having $200k+ in debt to pay off
you won't live long enough to worry about it so why not? I'd take it if it were me
@@ao4-stzf as a doctor she will make from $200 000 to $500 000 a year so I say she will be more than ok 😊
Imagine being bold enough to assume that I’m incurring any debt. :-)
@@jenniferreinmuth-birch7387 Imagine being a doctor into you 90's like Ellsworth Wareham, MD before he passed away at 104! The good you can do!
