My father landed in Normandy on June 10. 50 years later he returned to a village, Greville-Hague, his unit had liberated and where a friend died. The people had a grand celebration for him and he became friends with a number of folks. His uniform is in their Mayor's office. I visited with my parents once, and then with my siblings when we left some of my parents ashes. They had a celebration for us as well, with re-creators, dignitaries and a luncheon. My mother wrote a story about how this all unfolded and it was later translated into French. I have always been grateful for the friendship and hospitality shown to our family. (This was just too much for me to try to write in French. Désolée.)

Mon mari et moi sommes allés en Normandie lorsque nous avons vécu en France en 2019. Il est difficile de choisir un endroit préféré! Nous avons adoré les falaises et la plage d’Etretat, mais aussi l’incroyable jardin d’Etretat où nous avons pu flâner à travers différents jardins de haies façonnées et de sculptures artistiques. Le jardin donne sur la ville et la plage, et la vue était époustouflant! Les plages du débarquement, la campagne environnante, les cimitieres, leurs pierres tombales et les machines de guerre sont aussi extraordinaires, mais mentalement très différentes !

Je suis allée en Normandie quelques fois, notamment au Mont St Michel, la ville d'Étretat et aux plages du débarquement. Que c'est beau ! MSM était majestueux, et j'adorais Étretat qui donne sur la mer, avec les falaises abruptes et les formations rocheuses. Il y a de nombreuses années, on a quitté l'Europe depuis Le Havre, on est rentrés aux États-Unis sur le bateau de croisière SS France. Je veux y retourner, peut-être l'année prochaine. 🤞
Quelle chance ! J'adorerais visiter le Mont-Saint-Michel. Je devrais prévoir ça aussi pour mon prochain voyage :)
Thank you for your introduction, Normandy is an absolutely fascinating region. I'm reading about the history related to the House of Hauteville recently; William Iron Arm, Robert Guiscard, Bohemond of Taranto, and their campaigns in southern Italy, Sicily, and during the First Crusade. The Normans played a significant role in medieval European history. I'm definitely looking forward to learn more stories about them.

L'année dernière, j'ai passé une journée à Honfleur, une très jolie ville de Normandie. Je recommande une visite aux Maisons Satie, le lieu où a vécu Erik Satie. Ils sont très fascinants et assez bizarres

Moi aussi, je n'ai jamais eu la chance d'aller en Normandie. mais j'aimerais beaucoup y aller. Je suis allé à la Gare Saint Lazare et j'ai essayé d'acheter des billets pour Rouen depuis la machine, mais j'ai abandonné après un moment à cause de l'horaire. J'ai vu beaucoup de gens rentrer en Normandie pour Noël. Merci!

😊 [] ! ! En ce qui concerne mon meilleure souvenir, la région a des habitants avec le plus du respect pour la mémoire collective des alliés ( vers 1940s ) face au peuple qui se trouve dans des autres coins de l' Hexagone ...
