@@jbol2454 Agree. In FS2 you always had the feel that you have somewhat a chance against the shivans. In FS1 you feel so helplessly overwhelmed. I remember vividly after every successful mission how it NOT turned the tide of the war.
The best battle theme hands down. And the switch just makes everything more intense. I think this would give you a good scenario of how one approaches a math exam... all starts easy then becomes epic near the end. 😂
If you go to gog.com it will allow you to download and play this game on your Vista, Windows 7, 8 or mac! Really great website for getting retro games to work on the latest computer systems. :) They have both freespaces available for like 5 bux each. ^^
Owning both original and using them with the SCP project is even more superior, well then again I guess you can also use the GoG (and probably steam version) with the SCP project.
"The Beta Aquilae Installation is under attack" - Good times
COULD ONE OF YOU FLYBOYS GIVE ME SOME COVER!?!?!?
GOT A BOOGIE ON YOUR TAIL SIR
AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
NEW BANDITS IN THE AREA!
This song always manages to get me fired up.
Freespace 2 had far better visuals, writing, and action, but FS1 had the more memorable soundtrack.
FS2 is only so good because FS1 set it up so well! :)
FS2 did not have better writing or action.. and I prefer the visuals of FS1

This song makes me proud to be human.
...No idea why.
Protect those escape pods!
Totally my favourite music in Freespace!
MCCARTHY YOU'RE ORDERED TO POWER DOWN!
HEADS UP, WE HAVE COMPANY!

Hope, how much longer are these repairs going to take? We can't keep this up much longer!
This is the kind of music that just gets you amped up for a fight. BRING ALL WEAPONS TO BEAR!!!
Excellent job, pilot.
What can I say ............. Awesome
CHILDHOOD *_*
@1RadicalOne
They probably realized it was awesome, and remixed it for the movie

+GrenGoddess Also you can download it from steam...
I gotta play this game again soon. How to make it work on widescreen, guys?
Interesting coincidence then.
@demonicfork wasnt it already destroyed at this point and you had to defend the com beacon and escape pods?
You guys realize you can download both the freespace games on steam right?
The GoG versions are superior

The great war: discs scratched and oxidated beyond help. Freespace 2, missing 1 disc :( Re-bought gog version.
Inno1986 Yo, check hardlight productions! They have a ton of Freespace Mods and Optimizations
I've been a part of that even before source code and with it all those great possibilites was released.
Sounds like "To the Pirates' Cave" from the Pirates of the Caribbean score.
