This episode was designed for beginners, but it's good to brush up on your skills no matter what level you are. Learn how to Use Hue/Saturation in Photoshop!

Global Saturation Adjustments:
In order to work non-destructively, it's best to create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer rather than adjusting from the menu bar.
By default, the Hue/Saturation dialogue box will change ALL of the colors in an image when the sliders are adjusted. But this can be changed!
Local Saturation Adjustments:
To do so, go the the "Master" drop down menu. You will see many other colors, which can be selected and adjusted individually.
This method will select, again, ALL of that specific color found in the image. But what can you do if you only want a certain shade of green to change? You can use the Eyedropper tool! We use it by pressing the icon on the left. Once your cursor turns into an eyedropper, you can click on one point in the image and it will target just that exact color. You can also click and drag the grey slider that appears between the two colored bars.
Colorizing:
Create a new Hue/Saturation layer and check the "Colorize" button. This will change the entire image to the same color! This is handy if you'd like to change, for example, a red shirt to a green shirt. There isn't much variation in the color, however. If you're looking for some more variation you can turn down the opacity of the layer so that some of the original image comes through.
Painting on an image
If you're looking to add some color in a unique design, you can do that too! We create a new blank layer and then use the brush tool to paint some bright pink onto the image. At this point, the pink looks very obviously Photoshopped. To play with how the color blends into the photo, try using different Blending Modes. The "Color" blending mode yields a beautiful result, as does "Hue" and "Overlay."

Another very nice video, as usual! It's crazy too, because I was just searching for a tutorial that provided a good explanation for this particular adjustment layer, and it seemed like there wasn't any really good ones that elaborated on the purpose for all the sliders! This was uploaded just in time!
Thank u, one of my first steps in learning photohop
You are very good at explaining so that even the novice can understand. Thank you!
Thanks a lot Aaron!
No matter how simple the subject I always learn something from these videos.

I have 2 request that maybe people would like:
1. Shadows in Photoshop (from objects or people)
2. How to make a phone screen (with icons and that stuff)
I dont know if they are some videos about these already.
Greetings from Argentina!
Thank you!
Thanks again! Hugs from Brazil! =)

Hi Aaron, Its always nice to see you, Can you please make a video on making doodles in photoshop.
You are awesome
You're the best
I learned a lot from this video xD
Nice video
You went the entire episode without singing Karma Chameleon? *Colour* me impressed.
You change my life
+Aaron thanks
Aaron, will you guys perhaps start streaming on twitch? Since there's the creative category nowdays. Keep up the good work.
what is the ideal way of adjustment of photo, is t through curve or through hue & saturation, do we need to mix the both?
Are you going to do live photoshop/photography tutorials on the new twitch section "creative" ? :)
do you know a good channel for illustrator
I have some question, Aaron, how can i guess the color, which will formed, after we change blending mode from normal to the other one, for ex. u draw pink stripe, and use overlay mode, and it becomes purple color, and what will be, if we use for ex. green color, sorry for my eng.
what is the difference between an hue/saturation ajustement layer and a regular hue/saturation layer?
How do i make a second color in hue/saturation? For example under custom if I want another RED where i have two reds how to i make the second red?
So it looks like Aaron warned us about using ctrl + U to work on hue/saturation. What is the shortcut for the reversible method that Mr. Nace just taught us?
what's the difference between overlay and multiple?
Whatis the touch-pad thing you use called and where can I buy it? :)
Hey Aaron I got a rather weird request will it be possible for you to give me pointers I'm looking to create a skrillex like logo more specifically the colours on the outside that's really bright I want to know how to recreate those colour schemes any help would be appreciated thanks man:)
Hey as you post videos of learning photoshop... Why don't don't you do same with Premire and After Effects..,,we are waiting for the tutorial.
There is one thing that I really do not understand in *Photoshop* and this has been the case for many years... Can someone explain me why in *Photoshop*, sliders are so thin?! Honestly, did you see the free space that we have on this _Hue/Saturation_ menu for example?! And look how difficult it is sometimes when you want to select a specific color range with the feathering "blocks" in and out, with your mouse or pen, especially in High Resolution like in *1920x1080 or higher*. It is really difficult! Same with the *Camera Raw Filter* menu sliders, again, especially in very High Resolutions!... It doesn't make any sense at all, really not! Anyway [sigh]... thank you very much for this cool tutorial for beginners, *Phlearn*! ;)
Who knows what the program is between QuickTime and AirPlay ?
i already did but still all of my picture's color is change
anyone know the name of the song in the intro?
Really nice to see you Aaron! :) wow I am the first comment
+BarYafe22 cool
+MuntantLary hahah :) He is my mentor long time now
Do you guys know a good channel that does videos like this on Premiere or After Effects? I want to get my video edit game on, but I'm struggling with the software.
Count me in on this one too, please.
+Sander Kamp Me too for sure.
+Sander Kamp +3
+Sander Kamp I don't use Premiere, but for After Effects I use channels like Video Copilot, Mt Mograph and ECAbrams. It really depends on what kind/style of video editing you want to do.
Kawaī kuso asashin Thanks! I'll give them all a look, Video Copilot seems very interesting :)
who buton i click for the window show me Hue/Saturation
QUESTION
I noticed some difference wheter i'm in the RGB mode or the CMYK mode, why?
+Karataron As far as i know you would use CMYK mode if you want to print something. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (thats black), printers use these four colors and the colors in your image may change in this mode. Converting your image to CMYK sort of gives you a preview for a print and lets you account for changes in color before printing.
Isn't that chameleon an icon for some company? Can't remember which one but I swear i've seen it before
+Nathan Lewis Open SUSE, not a company with the usual meaning :D it's a linux Distro
Telus Mobility?
song name??
The good thing is, you do not need an expensive Adobe subscription for Photoshop to do this - Affinity Photo is a great alternative.
That last tip was random, but useful nonetheless
Put a happy face of your from England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😊

+GoPro STAR Oh MY GOD!!! Are you a super hero or something?
I wish I wasn't so poor for I could do this stuff. :(
Hi Aaron!!
I had this photo clicked in the morning from my cell phone.
The atmosphere was a bit foggy, and the sun rays were longer in stretch (hope you understand what i mean by this), but i couldn't capture it well.
I would love it if you teach me to edit it to make it look even more cooler with fog n sun rays.

funny
How am I gonna take this stuff serious if he keeps saying "I'm just messing with hue"
I enjoy your tutorials but you use guys to much. Just explain without the use of guys. Otherwise, you are the PS tutorial king.
Is it just me, or is this all out of focus.
