This locomotive was built by MLW for the White Pass and Yukon Railway in Alaska. However it never operated there because they shut down their freight operations in the early 1980s. It was subsequently acquired by USG for their Plaster City operation, replacing GE 70-ton C-C locomotives. It was originally built with the safety cab; there is another unit from the order of three with safety cabs still working on the WP&Y
Cool, learned that this locomotive is an Alco DL-535. Looked strange, at first, until I realized that the original cab and "high-nose" hood were replaced with a Canadian Safety Cab, along with mechanical / electrical upgrades. Much better and more comfortable for the crew.
I have a question where is this Railroad and this is 3 ft Narrow Gauge right I was just wondering thank you this is more of this railroad that I've seen in a lot of different videos thank you very much peace out have a great
SouthernPacific5339 that's awesome thank you for replying I never knew where this railroad was I graciously appreciate the info it's a 3ft gauge Narrow Gauge right that's the only other question I was wondering thank you very much. For reply thank you peace out have a great day
Interesting that at around 12:07, on the return trip from the mine, the first car behind the locomotive appears to be empty. Is this the case and if so, for what purpose?

Nice video of a neat railway. Never knew it existed. I'm wonder if you have any footage of the loaded cars being dumped?
Pretty cool to see that gravity move with the tank car at 4:30
Out of my 22 years of going to the desert in that area for camping I’ve only see this train run once and that was in August of 2017.

Buffer car for loader at the quarry.
@@SouthernPacific8984 Thanks.
This size rail track 1067mm or 1000mm?
I believe it's 3ft gauge. So if my math is correct that works out to 914.4mm
What's the tanker car at the rear for?
lightnindash 3804 Drinking water for the quarry. No water there.
