This makes so many promises without providing any technical explanations. For example, what do you mean by "needing any DNS servers and CDNs"? These are the building blocks of the modern Internet that optimizes web page load time the user experiences and - how does the ICP protocol simply make them go way? How do you expect to load contents in fewer than a seconds? Also which OSI layer does the ICP fall into exactly? Wish more technical details are provided.
I agree but I have also not looked into it since I just now discovered the existence of difinity, so I'll give them the benefit of doubt for now. I think the ICP is in the application layer since it's above IP but I don't know for sure.
It honestly sounds like I2P but locking node software to large, centralized datacenters. Blockchain and smart contracts are said to be involved but don't sound like they are beyond the token. I'm investing in this at $7-8 because I think there are large gains to be had, but I don't love it. I hope decentralization can become a more important goal in the future.
Just learning about this but I feel as though some of the information is a little misleading. It comes across as though it's not only a replacement for hosting services such as AWS but it somehow offers a different or new, more secure Internet. That's not the case. It still relies on TCP or UDP\IP and the supporting routing and switching protocols to move this data. So the infrastructure that supports the "Internet Computer" is no more secure than what we have now. Granted, most attacks take place higher up the stack, but it is at its very core the way we move data now. Perhaps I'm missing something....
I think it's more than just a replacement of AWS. It's a replacement of the entire middleware (operatingsystem-platform-webserver-database) stack that developers are used to. It's a serverless architecture. It's like an AWS Lambda that runs on blockchain. It's a pretty bold and creative use of blockchain tech. While you're right to say that it's subject to TCP/IP security flaws, that point is moot because everything that sits on top of ICP runs on blockchain and benefits from the tamper-proof nature of blockchain itself (At least for now).

Yes, the Internet Computer does require hardware, but as a user, you don't need to worry about managing or controlling this hardware directly. The Internet Computer is a decentralized cloud computing platform developed by the DFINITY Foundation. It aims to enable the creation of a new kind of internet infrastructure where traditional data centers and servers are replaced by a network of nodes running on a protocol called Internet Computer Protocol (ICP). Here's how it works: Nodes: The Internet Computer network consists of a large number of nodes distributed globally. These nodes run on specialized hardware, typically data center-grade servers. Each node contributes to the processing power and storage capacity of the network. Decentralization: The network is decentralized, meaning there's no central authority or control over it. Instead, it operates based on a consensus mechanism where decisions are made collectively by the nodes. Canister Smart Contracts: Developers can deploy canister smart contracts onto the Internet Computer. These canisters are like mini-applications or services that run on the network. They can handle various tasks such as processing transactions, storing data, and executing code. Interconnected Network: The nodes in the Internet Computer network communicate with each other to maintain the integrity and security of the platform. They collaborate to execute the code and process transactions stored in the canisters. Accessing the Internet Computer: Users interact with the Internet Computer through interfaces provided by applications deployed on the network. These applications can range from decentralized finance platforms to social networks, all running on the Internet Computer infrastructure. Overall, the Internet Computer leverages a decentralized network of nodes to provide a platform for hosting applications and services without relying on traditional centralized infrastructure.

I have found some answers: WebAssembly runs in the canisters, not in our browser. Check! Independent data centers means indeed independent from Dfinity. I can see how in many instances this would be a winner. My guess is everyone would have minimal hardware at home. Everything would be done through the internet now but they would have to throttle data in some way because the new system would take more data in order to replace the system we have and that would crush the internet it couldn't survive under the loads so this could only work if they really limited per person the amount of data use.

It's a really much needed solution to a long experienced challenge. The internet should never be proprietary. I wish they had done a crowdfund presale instead of investors' rounds

Any chance for a c# runtime?
It's so amazing that if I didn't know better I'd think it's a hoax. I'm excited for the future!
This coin will boom again even BTC down 50 percent! as far as im concerned im here for profits and this coin is one of them!
Launching something like this in the mid of bull run is more than suspicious to me. Watch out.
It's a total fugazi.

@Dominick why is the price dropping like crazy ... ?
What prevents someone on the block chain from stealing data from the operations they're computing without homomorphic encryption
Enough of the tech jargon. What will the price be this year?
I think this can 2x by next month. I'm getting it.

Yeah, its probably all bullshit. Did you hear all those words? Yep. They definitely spent 5 years and billions of dollars developing the first crypto backed by protocol so they could run a pump and dump. I bet you have millions of shib tho. Cause you know. Logic.
@@codyburks4112 exactly my thoughts. It's so easy for people to just dump the idea if they don't understand it themselves.
The token is not the protocol. Speculators be warned of any speculating. $ICP is utility token, not a free money machine.

Q: WebAssembly? Does that mean all the nice computing stuff is done in my browser and only the results are shared and managed by the Dfinity network? Does that mean that LinkedUp is doing all of the nice calculation in my browser?
Q: runs on independent data centers? How can a data center be independent? Every data center depends on power, infrastructure, machines and even people looking for profit. Every data center is a potential single point of failure.
I would add: data centers are very expensive and they not relate to huge cloud computing. So(they don't explain in their white paper, ridicolous) I think all their system isn't decentalized.
Whoosh on context here. Clearly "independent" in this case as a description for the datacenter means the datacenter is independent of the DFinity organization.
@@mokahless but how could so be separated from big data centers? The reason why most company rely on big tech data centers it's because they have the biggest and more efficient ones. How is the system thinking to change that?
I have found some answers:
WebAssembly runs in the canisters, not in our browser. Check!
Independent data centers means indeed independent from Dfinity. The incentive to run a datacenter is to earn rewards or a portion of the calculation/transaction fees. The NNS is also a good thing to keep data centers aligned with the networks interest.
@@marcbohm2473 mmm ok, you mean the front-end run directly on the blockchain? I don't think it's possible with nowadays Blockchain technology. For the economic part it make sense but as I understood the tokenomics(that is the most important part) is actually missing

I'm surprised that he has to read the text for this short video
Road to #3 🚀
if you look at Fully diluted mkt cap.. it is already there mate
My problem with this is this seems like an extremely ambitious project that might be a decade away from achieving its goal. On top of that it is poorly explained tbh if I wanna really invest its whitepaper its not enough cause its hard to know the full extent of its applications(although I like some of the concepts I got to understand). Personally seeing ICP go from $800+ to $40 and still holding a decent place in the overall crypto market I feel it is a better gamble than most of the memecoins out there so I feel like getting on the project with minimal capital just to "not miss out on the boat".
>$40
>getting in on the project with minimal capital
I am a time traveler from August 3, 2022. It's $8.
And now I'm buying. A lot.

You could sign up to

Only blockchain that can run AI / LLMs fully on chain 😎
I can’t participate as a node operator? If you send the community specifications on how to become a node operator then we can all participate . The fact we can’t , raises issues how decentralised it is? Not an impressive launch. How does it lose 90% value in a month? Did the foundation just dump a large chunk of the coins in the open market so it could fund its future development?? Or is it a pump or dump scheme? Enriching close centralised friends and vcs?
Release your source code to the public.
Seems to be a good thing
Is it me or does this man sound and look like Petyr Baelish?
Fees? Security?
ICP has a reverse gas fee model where the developers pay not the users. The more I learn about this technology the more I see how Superior it is to everything else in the space. Just keep learning as much as you can and see for yourself

no you didnt, the internet is not the problem, the use of the internet and it's security complexities is a problem. If there ever were to be a "perfect" internet, this is not it. Dont invest more than you are willing to lose
@@Buhm01 Exactly this. His description sounds just as decentralized as our current protocols.
im watching now. but i wont be giving up any rune for this project. ...yet.
Thorchain and this are polar opposites. Thorchain sims at decentralization. This aims to completely centralize everything.
How far yall going to sell this down geez

Dfinity attacks proprietary systems like AWS yet it appears that the "Internet Computer" is no different - why isn't the underlying code of the "Internet Computer" open source and publicly available? What have they got to hide? Even the SDK is proprietary according to the license agreement. Blockchain is about decentralisation and democratisation - ICP appears to be neither of these things. All I hear is a bunch of misleading fluff.
It's extremely impressive tech, but yeah it's also the most centralized thing I've ever seen in all my eight years in crypto, by far. I'm still investing, because money, but I don't love it.
The future is now
kinda get it but not really
Reminds me of Gateway computer when it first came out of nowhere and now it’s nowhere!
Realize your eyes and experience are limited. Gateway is still a brand, and actually available for purchase.
About 7 million coins flooded the market this month causing the price to decline. Every month at least 5 million coins have flooded the market. This coin is going to lose investors more money in the coming months.
That's like saying routers have to limit per person data use. Some users will use less, some more. Some will heave a better connection, some worse.
New etherium.

If you are smart, you don't shorten words like you are typing on a T9 keyboard on a phone from 2002.
Dfinity needs a more charismatic spoken person... the core idea of the project is awesome!
This is everything crypto is supposed to be against. Also you don’t jump to #4 on CMC over night and get a Coinbase listing without being backed by the .01%.
How so? Not arguing, just wondering your thoughts.
@@xmchughs this project is backed by Andreesen Horowitz, a Silicon Valley based firm that has funded Uber , AirBnB and many others. They want to make is so that the new internet is run on their proprietary hardware and payed for with their proprietary token. This is not the future I want. I want to see IPFS replace the current internet. It’s free and run by a non-profit org. If ICP were the new internet, there would be a major bottleneck that could lead to crazy censorship. Also, this is pretty much vaporware at this point, so I would be careful throwing your money at it.
👍👍
These aliens are too smart for me. I have a question. With Bigtech, a lot of services were free (We know why).. As example, Google services (cloud, etc...)
Will Internet Stop be free with ICP ? I mean, basic functionality will probably continue to be free, but if Cloud is a part of internet, I can't imagine how it's possible to allocate unlimited GB of space for users... OK, I got the answer... In this future world, everyone will receive money for free... then, paid thing have probably not same meaning than today in Future.
