Thanks for all the hard work and dedication you put into making these awesome videos for us to watch Shroom I really appreciate it Shroom !! And I cannot wait until the next video Shroom !! Moving to Sydney in the New Year this has really opened up my eyes to what fishing is going to be close by. Thanks for posting this. Really enjoying your videos.
Congratulations champion, you put in the casts and time on the water, you get results like this, never give up, great vid mate, well done, we can all learn a big lesson about taking your time and not rushing to drag them in, thanks champion, keep them coming,
Awesome episode. Great session. I like the blood worm colour too. That and the black and gold. I caught a big trevally like that a few years ago in the Wonny. I like how you new it was something unusual and discounting regular species actually called it correctly. I like how you were relieved once you saw it even tho it wasn't landed yet. Nothing worse than eternally wondering what a fish might’ve been. As for fishing quirks- I caught a legal kingfish in the Port Hacking on an unweighted no. 2 hook, 4lb line and a pipi flicking for whiting up in the mangroves. Couldn't believe I landed that thing. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Alex! Yes, I don't really put myself out there and rely pretty much on the CZcams algorithm and minor traffic on Instagram. I really appreciate that and hearing that made my day. I can't believe CZcams doesn't notify me of subsequent replies!
Great results in the good old George’s, Shroom. You had some really great results for there, and you really worked for them mate. That’s a great Trev too mate…
Thanks Wayne, till last year I hadn't caught a trevally in that part of the Georges and that opened my eyes up. It just puts another dimension to brown water river fishing!
It got the heart pumping Michael 😅 100% adrenaline hit when the fight hit phase two. They'll still be in the rivers for a little while longer before heading down the system 👍
My pleasure Shroom. Glad I found your channel and I'm now a subscriber. If you get a chance between fish, check out my new channel and let me know your thoughts. Cheers!
Love it great vid Shroom!! Am totally new to the fishing game what sort of rig are you using here. Sorry for the basic question, is it just the jig with lure no other sinkers/swivel?? thanks
Awesome mate! Nice, it's a great pastime. Yes the rig is simply a soft plastic lure rigged onto a jighead. This is tied directly to the line so no sinkers or swivel are involved. 👍
Hi Shroom, love your enthusiasm and passion for the sport, even though I'm not an angler. Would love to get my kids into fishing but don't know enough about what to do/where to start. Would you be interested in hosting a workshop or something? Might be able to get other families /kids to join. Ps. We live near Oatley
Thank you Jason! Yes, I have been intending to host another subscriber meet once this whole health situation is resolved. You'd be able to ask me questions there in person and get help, advice etc. It's a day where I am to give back to all the loyal viewers with my time. If you live in Oatley, a good place to take the kids for a fish and a day out with family is Carss Park in Kogarah.
They go hard the big George's river trev try 4lb line even more of a challenge I gotten a few closer to the other bridge near the lower reaches I call them Sandy GTs , Lugano head has heaps but its snaggy close in ...
They sure do real hard George and that's why I generally stick to 6lb unless I'm fishing flats and wading or something haha. There's just too much potential for a good bycatch using lures.🤗 I did quite like using 5lb a while back as a good inbetween choice. If that's where I think it is, last time I was there I was taken by complete surprise by a red belly black snake and I haven't been back! 😂
By using 6lb foolacarbon he actually is fishing 4 lb. Terrible, and I mean terrible, knot strength. And if you're going to release fish you don't want to fish too light so the fish are in better shape to let go.
Hey mate, I noticed you strike a lot. With the breambos I find they don't come back a aecond time after a strike, super spooky fish. Flatties are a different story. Do you strike every single time or are there times you choose to just do a slow pull back? I find bream are challenging on lures, not so hard on bait though.
Yes it's a tricky one and there's no rules set in stone. It depends on the lure choice, the characteristics of the rod and more. I strike a quick and hard one if I feel a particular type of hit like a deep pluck of a string. If I feel multiple weak hits I do a moderate lift back or a quick short strike to not pull the lure too far toward me. I hope that makes sense but hard to describe everything in text.
I brought a stradic c14 1000 abit small but im dying to try it out.. i'll be in rosebay boat ramp.. caught a one fish wonder early in the morning today there with a daiwa legalis... anyway i need loud drag!!!!
Haha, just a touch over at 46cm. It was big enough for me to get the tape out. Probably about two times so that I can get some content to make videos 😍 Thanks James.
Hey shroom top videos man! What rod you recommend for soft plastics? What to get into it but not sure where to start as in do I need a stiff fast action rod?
Probably not for a while David. I haven't really considered it as something feasible with the limited time I have to keep up regular 1 video/week and other things in my life. Maybe one day
Thank you Sal! I don't usually name spots out of courtesy for others but I leave the places in if people mention it in the comments. It's probably somewhere in the comments in this or similar videos
I caught one this morning. But the water looked Shockingly polluted or very dark and lots of plastic papers under nowadays. I let the bream go. Tata lol

@@ShroomFishing fair enough. So the 2000s had a fairly shallow spool. Im in the market for a Luvias LT and was thinking either 2000s or 2500s. Might go with the 2500s for a slightly bigger spool. Also I want to ask is your action for grubs the same technique as the slim swimz? Cheers mate
Yes that's right, the S stands for shallow spool. I don't think the 'S' is available anymore from Aus. At least for the Exist, they updated to deeper spools or 'D' so 2000D-P now. You can also find the deeper model for the 2000 Luvias which is the 20 LUVIAS FC LT 2000D. If like the slightly larger body then the 2500S is also fine. Yes, the same techniques work but usually when I choose one over the other I modify the technique a bit depending on what I think is best. In general I work the grubs slower and less aggressively.
@@ShroomFishing Awesome. Thanks for the tips. Are you ever going to try the new Daiwa Bait Junkie? They look promising with their Amino scent. Anyway, I think in the Luvias range they have both 2000s and 2500s in Aust. Few shops have them in stock. I don't really want the D model as I don't necessarily need 300M of line for light finesse outfit. It also means I have to spend more $$ on extra line I don't need 😁. Do you put and mono backing on yours?
Yes, I may have to get some of the Daiwa Bait Junkies and check them out earlier than expected! You can't go wrong with either shallow spool versions. I have about a few winds of mono/fluoro backing only just so that the braid doesn't slip so pretty much just straight braid.
