- Aidan Turner wins The Joe Allen Best West End Debut award for his performance in The Lieutenant of Inishmore at the Noel Coward Theatre. The judges praised his masterful, charismatic and extremely funny performance. Here he sends his thanks - from his trailer in Cornwall!

Aidan is a great actor and such a nice guy, he so deserved that Stage Debut Award!!! 😎
How exciting!!! Having seen his play opening night three months ago, I can say whatever this award was, he deserves it. I've never seen such a tour de force on the stage before. He showed off all his acting chops in the role. He had to do everything from sing to fight to kiss to cry and to die finally. I watched him as he was lying there on his back, and I could never see him breathe once. I started to worry that he was really dead! LOL And he never flubbed a line, all of which were delivered in the Northern Irish accent, and he could be heard at the back of the theater without seeming to yell. And yes, he was extremely funny!
One more thing, the audience gave it a standing ovation at the end, and when Aidan came out we all cheered! I was so happy to be able to give back a little for the enjoyment I'd gotten over his role in the play, in _Poldark,_ and all the other great things he's done. He had a beautiful smile on his face at our cheers and looked humbled and grateful for our adulation, which endeared him to me even more, if that were possible. ;)
*At any rate, congratulations, Aidan Turner, you're the best! I've seen everything available that you've been in on film, and now one stage production, and what a thrill that was. :)*
A shame I live in California or I'd get to the UK more often. I'd love to see filming of _Poldark._ We did take a Poldark tour, just a couple of friends of my husband's and mine and a tour guide, and went seemingly all over Cornwall looking at places where they'd filmed. The tour guide knew a lot about the show, too. When I saw the fourth season, I recognized many of the places we'd been and had recognized them when we got there as having been locations we'd seen before. What a great trip!!!

Saw the play more than once. It was fabulous! He was wonderful in it. Even his singing. The award was well deserved. The rest of the cast was also great. If you missed it I'm sorry for you.
Wow, lucky you. I did not go to UK, we had other plans for the summer. The performance was filmed, but I have no info if that film will be public or not.
I would LOVE to see that film! It would bring back such great memories. I hope it has subtitles. That Northern Irish accent is kinda hard to understand for those of us out in the colonies. :) There were times when Aidan delivered a line and the whole audience roared with laughter while I sat there wondering what he had just said. Oh well, I was just happy to be there. :)

Hi Lenka, to the best of my knowledge the play was never filmed, at least not for public viewing.
@@NordicLight365 It is a pity. We cannot see many of his works as foreign fans.
