I wouldn’t mind having co-op come back, not to the “you have to be online and have servers and people playing to play the campaign” extent that Chromehounds and AC5 went but missions like ‘Intercept the Redguns’, ‘Destroy the Drive Block’, and ‘Take the Uninhibited Floating City’ really make me want to have a PvE experience where you and your friends fight in big battles. Even something like Frontier Defense from Titanfall 2 could be fun.

I just reaaaaaally like that we have access to all four weapons at the same time. It looked really silly in 4A when using back weapons. That they did this AND still included the excellent hangar system from AC5, makes me really hopeful for the series onwards.

Going back and playing 4A and just piloting your mech and mastering all the systems is the hardest part of the game, the analog stick is the hardest boss. I know some older franchise fans appreciate that and think it's "the point" but this older fan never enjoyed that part and 6 pilots soooo cleanly like you are part of the machine. And having access to every weapon intuitively is a huge part of that. Plus it just makes sense for the more futuristic setting for piloting computers and human enhancements to be better, thanks coral!

I think mission rankings have a similar design intention to the debt system. Both systems encourage you to play more strategically, avoid damage, and minimize wasted ammo. But where the debt system could feel punishing to new players and discourage experimentation, working for that S-rank is a goal specifically aimed at invested players wanting to test their optimization.

I think what AC6 should have done is use those supply sherbas as the healing mechanic. Have your heals drop into combat. There could also be a customization factor to them too (how much they heal, how many you get, do they drop on the field or do they directly seek the player)
I think the stagger system is actually fine where it is the problem mainly lies in how it’s approached; you won’t find any weapons that do flat damage or more damage outside of stagger based damage if they added some variety to that it would really make the stagger system more integrated into armored core

And maybe a DLC will bring bigger changes like radars, head sensors, night vision, shoulder extensions etc.
I don't think we'll see a return of the heat system until gen 7 though.
Also gen 5 being slow is a misconception and a lie spread by angry 4A fanboys.

6:52 The flipside of the stagger damage question is that base damage without using stagger is too low, so it takes too long to kill tougher enemies if you don't use it. If it were raised just a bit higher it would be better I think, even if its just going from x1.0 damage to x1.1 or x1.2 damage.
7:22 As long as it doesn't require completing every mission with an S rank to get every single tuning point I wouldn't mind it.
If AC6 does get a direct sequel, I don't think it'll follow the events of the FoR ending. I base this on the fact that previous direct sequels carried over all the parts of the game preceding it, so there'd have to be a logical reason why you can still obtain the RRI parts, especially those that utilise Coral.

6:38 Great point here. I don't think most people realize how simply tweaking and adjusting a few numbers can improve balance immensely, instead of fundamentally changing a system altogether. First i wanna say nice video. Good edits and pieced together thoughts.
Stagger makes fights happen faster which I feel is what we need to keep a more casual crowd drawn in. The 2nd thing I feel keeps a crowd drawn is a variety of online game modes perhaps with proximity chat, so it's more appealing to streamers which will boost its online presence and permeability. Give us some competitive co-op. Push the cart. Protect the thing with a timer. Capture the flag. Protect the hidden King. Put a giant soccer-ball on the field (AC Rocket League probs be hella fun). Bring back blade-on-blade cancel-outs while sparking
i feel a drawn out stagger would make Tanks more obnoxious and Missile Boats completely uncatchable unless something else is also done to balance out this eventuality. Don't get me wrong I miss my 45 minute long matches with the fate of the round balancing on a series of 5 blade-on-blade cancels to the top of the arena.
I'd love to see the return of some longer missions (perhaps optional with part rewards) here and there without supply drops that would require a heavier AC able to carry more ammo to complete the mission while still being agile enough to engage in a final power boss. I kinda felt like the supply drops were cheating though I understand their intent for the mainstream.
Assault Boost Melee Rushes can easily be crushed by playing around a building or a pillar or a tower or being above them or below them or closely behind them or kicking them or shielding the kick or hitting them with a charged WUERGER or manual aiming two grenade shots into the ground as they close in or manual aiming two cannon shots into them since manual aiming does not trigger the warning bleeper or a perfectly timed Power Bunker will beat a kick........ there are a lot of options to break someone's rush.
    Terminal Shielding needs a nerf.
I will say: PLEASE continue the art direction. @#%!#% beautiful art direction.

Main campaign should stay single player, but invest in a proper co-op mission pack/gameplay mode. Rewards should be carried between campaign and multiplayer.
Debt should come back as well as better rewards for rankings. I think checkpoints should cost more but not be punishing.
Alongside this we need proper tuning back for frame and unit parts, that costs a decent amount of money and requires payment to respect encouraging replaying missions.
On that note, more missions in a more raven/mercenary esque manner and less linear. Even generated missions the way of Mechwarrior 5 to have a mercenary sim sandbox might not be terrible which would give more opportunities to make credits without having to replay old missions all the time. Debt could also unlock other missions and storyline’s could be very cool kind of a throwback to how human plus was unlocked with massive debt.
Personally, rework how healing works… it’s immersion breaking and borders on magical having some “kit” magically restore armor points…

Besides hoping we get more and a major step forward in polish for the mechanics and more more parts/weapons in the expansion, I have an idea for “fixing” the stagger mechanic:
Flip the loop around. Your heavier hitting weapons are more so meant to expose weak points on a boss vs stagger and then do big big damage. More fights like the Walker basically. Either strip their defenses way way down in a war of attrition ( what you’ll likely do on your first playthrough ) or strip a single weak point and tear them apart ( I do want to maintain a reward for aggressive, close range play )

    Armored Core Wishlist
    1. Shoulder mounted weapons and Attachments.
    2. Chest mounted weapons; like in previous games.
    3. Arm Shields; not just back mounted shields.
    4. The return of Boosters; for speed builds.
    5. More Nightfall Storyline.
    6. Two handed weapons (I know this will never happen, but I can dream damnit!). Also I can see this is a viable way for people creating pure melee and sniper builds.
Or have the ability to wield a one-handed weapon in both hands; but double ammunition and accuracy.
    7. Transformable legs;
Example: tank treads that form into bipedal legs. We already got quad legs that morph into the hover tank, so why not?
    8. Non-energy based shields and melee weapons. A good workaround for this play style is a durability meter; use repair kits to recharge the durability.
    9. Randomly generated levels for missions; this will create a type of longevity for the game. Players will encounter previous enemies, with different stats and weapon loadouts. Have the rewards be variants of previous parts and weapons.
Example: Nioh 2 does this to great effect.
    10. The return of AI AC companions; for long difficult missions with crazy strong boss fights.
This was a feature that was back in armored Core 5. Don't have the players create the AI for themselves that was extremely difficult, instead choose an artificial intelligence that mimics other AC pilots from the game.
Final thoughts: I realize that some of these are a tall order, others are just the return of previous features. But all the same I am looking forward to the progress of armored Core in the future.

I think stagger is my only complaint about this game. I get that it adds a level of strategy into the game by having players build towards it, but that very intent is also what makes it unfun to play against. I do miss the damage system from acfa where everything did damage to your AP, but the parts you used acted as a sort of buffer that mitigated some of it. Stagger has existed in previous titles, but it was generally a gimick reserved for the heaviest of weapons

The stagger of previous games was really just a hit stun from a big weapon, or by taking a moderately large hit while in the overboost in 5th gen. A full stagger from collective smaller hits that then makes you take crit damage is entirely new and people need to better differentiate between stagger and hit stun.

One of the big issues us that it takes too long to dissipate, even on a light build. I kind of also wish they would have built into the damage types from ACV. They have three types, Kinetic, Energy, and Explosive, but they really feel negligible for defences. It would have been interesting if a fully built explosive defensive AC had significant impact resistance to explosive weapons, encouraging players to consider what weapons will be effective.
If you play the single player mode without the most oppressive stagger builds it's insanely fun. However, if you focus IPS(Impact Per Second) it's just a cheesy easy way to beat the game. It is an easy mode. The worst is, it doesn't translate well to the PvP and bottlenecks build customization.

I don't think stagger windows and bonus damage from staggers need nerfs so much as how easy it is to inflict the damn thing in the first place. The whole point of stagger is to capitalize on it as a window of opportunity to finish the match faster, and I'm okay with that cause I don't like the idea of dancing around for 5 minutes with reduced damage just for the sake of trying to make PVP take longer. I would prefer for the ability to inflict it (for PVP only) much more difficult rather than zooming around and spamming one weapon or another just to eat a pilebunker or giant shuriken weapon to the face and auto lose.

My biggest gripe is the camera control/free float camera and how much control you actually get over you ac. I'm not asking for turning speed to come back but I think the camera absolutely should have stayed fixed to your ac. Having them move independently hurts how much control you have on your ac itself and your own visual awareness. When I want to strafe to dodge something, I would like it to actually strafe laterally not fully turn in the opposite direction of that I want and then doing a u-turn vaguely in the direction that I inputed. It doesn't feel like you're controlling your ac, it feels like your controlling an invisible pen that your ac is just following as if attached to it by a string.
Also had to add, yea this version of stagger sucks. It doesn't incentivize strategy it just incentivizes spamming all your weapons until something happens.

What i think would be interesting in keeping coral around is making the all mind ending Canon. Humans being humans not all humans would accept coral or an unintended side effect of coral expansion is over distance from the centre it loses its sense of self and becomes violet either way. Humans that want to fight have to rely on old tech from previous generations, ending in humans once again relying on Kojima particles to stand a chance against Coral power.

I think the best thing fromsoft can do as of now is to expand on rubicon because there is a lot of stuff we still don’t know! And i think (in my opinion) the gameplay is absolutely fantastic perfect dare i say but i think speed could be cranked up a tad bit but maybe thats just me. Armored core depends on the player at the end of day and fromsoft knows that. I hope that in the new gens they bring back some old stuff from the older games like debt or more parts!!! Returning back to my point on speed i think they should crank it up a little bit but not batshit speed like 4 or for answer. But thats just me tho jajajajaja

I don't think they'll make a full sequel like in the past, considering that these sequels in the same universe were more similar to what we have today like a big DLC... that being said, I think that's exactly what we'll get, "but Armored Core never had DLC", but the Soul series did, and judging by the new additions, like the stagger meter and hard lock, they are not afraid to make things a little different this time. Not to mention that a full standalone game with reused content/assets today would be looked down and heavily criticized, a big DLC is far more likely, they've also been patching the game since launch, another thing that couldn't be done before the PS3/360 era... truth be told, I can't wait for AC6 DLC xD

I feel like From Soft will attempt to turn Armored Core back into a flagship series. I bet even they weren't expecting 6 to be such a huge success with the general audience. I expect Armored Core to grow to a point where we'll see a resurgence of mech games, similar to how Dark Souls changed gaming way back when. For now, I'm glad FromSoft took a break from Souls, especially in this oversaturated market, to focus on Armored Core.
My immediate expectations for the series is that we'll probably see a sequel to 6, like 4 Answer and Verdict Day. And I also hope we can get some serious remasters on some old games, maybe like a Legendary Collection type bundle.

While some of the bosses in AC6 are cool, to me they took too much of the attention for me. I agree more of the attention should be on the AC fights. In general, ACs were treated the way bosses were treated in AC6. I do think more mission variety would help as well. having done the missile defense missions 50+ times it kinda gets old. I think something like the enforcer mission (Depth 2) where you are actively pursing an enemy would be cool instead of minor jumps where it just waits for you. a large scale battle field like defending the old spaceport would actually have been a really cool fight and its a shame we didn't get to see it in ng+ or something. A mission like wall climber would have been cool with an AC fight in the first half as well (not that mission in particular but one like it).

I honestly want the Sekiro stagger completely scrapped and to never return to Armored Core. It doesn't fit and it's the main reason I found AC6 so frustrating. I think it would have been my new favorite in the series if it weren't for that BS. ☹ I honestly hated it so much that if it's still in the next game, I probably won't buy it.

  • @GamersBlogX
    @GamersBlogX Před 5 měsíci

I agree with the stagger changes suggested. Its too much. Not only does AP get shredded in seconds when in stagger, but you can't even really DO anything about it since you get frozen in place and forced to just kind of take it. This is more painful since some weapons can build up stagger near instantly. Not to mention it makes every AC vs AC fight in the single player game an absolute joke since the AI isn't all that smart.
I remember the Raven vs Raven fight and getting really hyped up for it during my first playthrough, only to stagger them once and then Pile Bunker them and it was over before it could even begin. Thematically its still a really cool fight, but stagger just makes the actual fight feel less impactful since its so strong.
