- Hello! Today I will talk about some of the most unusual sounding engines. About two-stroke engines. Once upon a time they could be easily seen and especially heard on the streets of the city. But over time, the greener and less loud four-stroke engines drove them off the streets. Nowadays, two-stroke engines are not available in the mass market and it becomes more and more difficult to see them on the street.

2-stroke engines sound very good and there isn't much else that is like it if not anything at all but if I had a favourite 2-stroke engine it would probably be the 2-stroke diesel engine hence my username because of not only how good it sounds but how unique and cool it is in simple terms and 2-stroke gasoline engines are still great for pretty much the same reasons as a 2-stroke diesel.

9:50 you mention "naturally aspirated". I think it is worth correcting that actually there is no such thing when it comes to 2 stroke diesels. These need to be either supercharged or turbocharged (or whatever external compressor that delivers pressurized air for the intake) in order to enable aspiration/scavenging, as in 2 stroke diesels, the construction is not using 'piston movement vs. crankcase' generated aspiration.
Correct, but if a Detroit Diesl 2-stroke engine has no turbocharger and only a roots blower it is technically considered naturally aspirated since the blower is required to force fresh air into the cylinders through the ports in the cylinder liners and exhaust gases out through the overhead valves which is why there isn't a more natural aspiration for it.

There are 2 strokes every where. huge wartsila and man ship 2 stroke diesels, Big EMD's, Cooper bessemer w330 and z330 huge natual gas 2 strokes, Rotax 850etec turbo, Polaris Patriot 850 turbo, electric motors, the sun and lightning bolts. How about a nice new Cummins ACE OP 2 stroke that are taxes are paying for:mart.cummins.com/imagelibrary/data/assetfiles/0058689.pdf. Yoe can even convert a 4 joke stroke into a poppet valved loop charged 2 stroke, many funny cars use this hemi based 2 stroke! Big v-twin Harleys are easy to convert as the any port pattern can be cut in those huge air cooled jugs. even electric motors are a magnetic rotary form of 2 cycle! Yes a tesla car is actually 2 cycle magnetic rotary 3 phase.
