About Cruel Summer:
From executive producer Jessica Biel (“The Sinner”), “Cruel Summer” is a psychological thriller that follows two young women: Kate Wallis, the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette Turner, the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. All signs point to Jeanette’s guilt, but is Kate really who she seems to be? Set over three summers and told through shifting points of view, the series challenges perception and follows how one girl can go from being a sweet outlier to the most despised person in America. The series stars Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Michael Landes, Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee and Brooklyn Sudano. “Cruel Summer” comes from studio eOne and was created by Bert V. As someone who is a social worker, the fact that Jamie exploited Kate’s ordeal to cover his own ass (lets be clear, he was in no way protecting her by telling her she was delusional) is one of the most reprehensible things Ive ever seen.
totally agreed! I felt so sick seeing that.
Indeed, it was sickening that Jamie would use Kate's trauma to gaslight her into believing that she was delusional, even though she suspected that he had been involved with Jeanette all the time she was missing.
This scene, my god I love the writing, the acting, the colors, and cinematography of this episode was fire per usual
I take it back. He and Jeanette are both crazy. They deserve each other.

That is what is called gaslighting, it’s a symptom of a toxic, abusive relationship.
Jamie freaks me out. I still cannot get over the scene from the pilot or second episode where he was stalking Jeanette and had a gun in his car. He is definitely planning on killing her for what he thinks Jeanette did to Kate. I believe he really loves Kate and will do anything for her.
Wow that's crazy i never thought of it like that. I actually thinks he cares for Jeanette more than he's letting on and feels guilty for it.

@@jess-dn4th lol its soo confusing. Each episode keeps on changing my opinion. But in the first episode when he was talking about Jeanette you could tell he really cares for her. But when he be talking to other peope about Jeanette its just like sir do you even believe what you saying
I can’t get over him punching Jeanette in the face as soon as Kate was found. I really hope neither girl gets back with him after that, even Kate was like “who are you??”
Me too, I REALLY hope that neither Kate nor Jeanette go back to Jamie, since he was quick to date Jeanette while his girlfriend was missing, presumed dead, and gaslit Kate into believing that she was imagining that he and Jeanette were ever involved.
A good response from Jamie after she says "That's the nicest thing you've ever done for me" would have been "Wow, I must've been a shittier boyfriend than I thought" and been completely devastated by the realization

It wasn’t so much as telling her the truth but more so much as reassuring her that she is not crazy or delusional.
They did nt have a great relationship . Kind of fake like her parents . Jeanette had it all true family and friends but seem likd a nerd I guess to her peers . Kate was alone and that Martin creep seem it and preyed on it and kidnapped her .
At least he finally came clean about the truth...but seriously he was a douche. I hope they don't put him back with Kate (Or Jeanette)
Me neither. Since he was so quick to date Jeanette in Kate's absence, they should both forget about Jamie, and possibly be friends themselves.

what really touched kate was the self doubts he engrained in her when he told her she was having hallucinations and for him to admit that he was lying and that she was in the right all along must have felt like she was getting a part of herself back.
