Pues en los tiempos que corren, Edberg no destacaría, sería un jugador obsoleto. Impresionantemente pobre el tenis de los 80. Becker tampoco sería un jugador destacado hoy.

John Barratt commentating and making an interesting comment at 01:47 - the courts at the Australian Open back then when it was held at Kooyong were weird. They were built on a slope to assist with drainage and you were hitting the ball uphill from one end, downhill from the other. As John Barratt said, it really seemed to disturb a lot of good servers. It may well go some way to explain why both Boris Becker and John McEnroe never really performed well when the Australian Open was held at Kooyong.

@@yoharlemmusic4411 Well, it was a diferent style, definetely a trend in those days, although there were Legendary players (Lendl the most notable) who never considered playing like that. But remember, that many of the most representative champions of serve & volley were great base line players as well. Becker, Edberg, Sampras later on. A great example is the Becker-Sampras classic 1995 final

Looking at Cash's game, everything was so 'correct' (as it would have been viewed when he was learning tennis) that it's easy to get the impression that he was somewhat overcoached. His forehand in particular could have been somewhat better. It wasn't designed to win points on its own, rather as a means to get to the net. In short, he had the kind of classic game that you might have learned to play on grass with wooden racquets. He might have had a more secure game if he'd played a bit on clay when he was still developing.
