    I appreciate that you put this together without spoiling things. So many of these videos talking about combat, especially Eikon abilities, are filled with spoilers for no reason.

    Don't try to weave magic burst between attacks. Do one magic burst after the first sword hit, then hold the magic button instead. Release the magic button once the sword combo is finished. The amount of dmg you do is actually HIGHER than perfectly weaving magic burst between attacks. The only advantage of weaving magic burst between every attack compared to 1 magic burst + charged shot is the fact that you build up stagger and stagger multiplier faster, but it's very inconsistent that you can perfectly weave magic burst with every hit.

    Another thing you can do with the Ultimate attacks for each eikon is hold the charge on your blade in the middle of the ultimate animation allowing you to do a heavy attack as you come out of it.

    Ifrits abilities for mobs and raising stagger multiplayer, Garuda for the stagger bar and ramuhs lightning and judgemend bolt to finish a stagger is heaps of fun

    The trick I noticed with magic burst is to press triangle as soon as your last hit touches the enemy not after

    My go to combo at the minute is
    Ifrit’s Will - o - the - Wykes -> magic burst combos until 1/2 stagger, then Garuda’s Deadly Embrace to topple, Gouge to deplete remaining stagger bar, then Ramuh’s Judgement Bolt, Thunderbolt, back to Ifrit for Ignition, back to Garuda for Wicked Wheel and finish off with Downburst

      That combo is abit backwards if you dont mind me saying, you should always finish with Judgement bolt as it will have a higher multiplier then, probably best to start with ignition to build up damage multiplyer, or any multi hit fast attacks at first then big hitters at the end

      @@anthonykurtz1112 It's just an ability like any other. You have to progress far enough in the story to obtain the ability. Then, spend the points to learn it.

    Get the item that allows you to hold your charged spells. It’s really good at extending combos! The more I Garuda the more I love her combo potential.

    Another quick couple that weren’t mentioned:
    Play on basically any control scheme aside from Type A. Having your magic on a trigger button feels much better, and opens your options up more.
    Burning Blade can be kept through phoenix shift, etc. so for example, the first combo Arekkz shows could have burning blade up, shift, use it to lift em, do a full air combo + burst then drop em or use Torgal to keep em up.
    Last one’s somewhat obvious, but good use of Torgal can keep enemies downed/in the air near-infinitely.

      I've been hearing this a lot but I've also been having struggles getting used to the muscle memory on type B or C. Mostly my issues with Eikon cycling between them. None of them really fit me AND feel like I could do really good. A feels "familiar" and somewhat ok, but bad for High combo stuff+ aerial, B and C feel really awkward for me but better for juggling and combos.

      I started with C but once I unlocked Garuda I had a hard time switching Eikon bar since triangle is also the button that triggers one of the abilities

      @@___meph___4547 yeah I switched to A and it feels perfect, only issue I had was charging magic while hitting enemies but there’s an item that can charge it for you.
      Plus the UI is made for Type A

    Percentage are always a bit messed up, you don't increase your damage by 150%, or it would be a 2.5 modifier. You do only 50% extra damage, which amount to doing 150% damage, but it's not an increase of 150%.

      I have this issue in other games as well. Increasing something by 100% is 2x but many things say a “150% mod” only increase by .5x
      Is there something in the language that I’m not understanding with how this is applied depending on the situation?
      I don’t even know if what I’m asking makes sense 😂

    I knew most of this stuff, but god, do I love this game.
    The only thing I didn't know was the ring. I have it, but I passed up on using it. Looks really cool. Think I'll give it a try later on.

    Lightning Rod into Will o Wakes. Tons of damage and builds up multipliers extremely fast on staggered enemies. I usually folllow up with other multi hit skills, like titans punch, garudas wicked wheel and gouge. Im mastering bahamuts ultimate to try as well because its a laser that should hit a ton of times.

    The combat definitely feels weird when you remember it’s a final fantasy game but it just feels so good.

      The genre of game this falls in is "Character action" think more Devil may cry and Bayonetta. I mean Limit break is literally devil trigger. Magic bursts are Nero's exceeds there's a lot to compare to DMC. Also a fantastic game!

    No shame. I totally use the ring of timed dodge or whatever it’s called. I’m having a blast. Planning on using it in my NG+ Final Fantasy difficulty as well.

    About the burning blade lift, is it possible to do with the control schemes that have x as jump and sq. As atk? Because holding melee for burning blade and then x would just do the lunge move wouldnt it? And theres no way you can charge it midair from a single jump first…or does it still work i havent tried it

    My current go to is to get enemies to half stagger > Deadly Embrace > Get 9 stacks of Ramuh Blind Justice while they're down which really eats away at the second half of the stagger bar. It's not the most exciting method, but those few seconds of Ramuh charging slows time down and gives my hands a break for a few seconds.

      Good tip, I might start doing this, especially as I like using ramuh's abilities anyway. The lightning rod combined with gouge, ignition or limit break attacks is great for quickly raising the multiplier!

      @@jflamen yeah. I learned something even better than this though from fighting cowboy. An upgraded Diamond Dust you get closer to end game will bring the multiplier immediately to 1.5.

    After titan unlock you will have a surplus of parry options (fireball parry from Phoenix, rook gambit from Garuda, basic parry from titan and the Ora ora parry from titan). I wish I can use them all

    These tips are great but i need to know what actual buttons to push. Your video shows flashing buttons but when i try i get nothing. For example, heatwave has a square on the attributes screen, but what other button do i press to make it work? Gouge has a green square to use the claws…but what other button do i press? The burning blade…the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    my biggest issues is that i love deadly embrace so much that i default want to have the wind eikon at all times which makes me frustrated that we can't move the o abilities to other eikon loadouts.

      Equipping the berserker ring will give your precise dodges that animation, and grant you a free limit break-like attack for a few seconds

    What is from level 50, best boss abilities and group opponent combo?

      If you are level 50 i expect you already got odin , his zantetsuken is by far the strongest ability in the game , play around it stack it to level 5 and use it after you stagger , other eickons are optional but i would say phoenix and titan but master garudas gouge and add it to on of titan’s slots for faster staggers however i dont think it is necessary as garudas stagger falls off on late game content u can pretty much stagger enemies with titan counter only. The main thing is just focus on odin as a main dmg and phoenix for gap closing and extra dmg and heal from ultimate while last eickon would be optional with adding whatever skills on it’s slot , for me i used titans for his block as it fills stagger quickly and i added shivas ultimate and gouge for shotting the stagger bar

    How do you do Aerial launcher?

      Torgal can do it to a non-heavy enemy by pressing down on the d-pad. It’s called “ravage” I believe.
      Alternatively you can hold square to charge up your sword with fire. After that, jump and release square and he’ll do an uppercut swing that lifts the enemy into the air so you can then combo and do aerials.
      There are some other methods too like some Eikon abilities or a charged triangle magic blast when the enemy is knocked onto the ground.

    With all of these techniques, I could have beaten the robot boss in FF7 remake. I couldn't beat him after so many tries and quit the entire game. I will never get to finish the game and know what happens to Tifa and Aeris.😢

    Yeah, I'm too p***** about Chadley If you think about it, procedurally generated submaps would be the modern version of the random enpowner. And if you think about it, that could be done so awesome. Was the standing over arc? It has no way to run final fantasy written all over it plus the exploration if done correctly with a paint by numbers, dialogue and equipment development and sub managed AP management. Is the perfect formula. Plus it would be really cheap. If done correctly in development. Course that CD Polish meeting would be quite a thing, and it had to be adhered to like it were the law.

      I'll give you a good start point for that CD meeting. We should treat it as diverse of sub plots in to work with the plot progression described in a foil events. Perhaps we'll have multiple resolutions based on inabiliberty if not succeeded in the first part I mean.

      Yes, you know, my work, you know, you still have no idea how cheap i'd make everything. Yes, the vistas would be lovely, quite A lovely background all of me, so everything can be super cheap. Yes, you can see those buildings. So they can be in proximity appropriate to procedurally generate space. So easily fits into the described downfall of the area. And if you go in on about the cutes of character, you're telling me somebody's talking to me, I that's that sounds like it's just got to wear paint by numbers, words can make it cheap, so it's just the guy talking. Yep, yep, just a guy talking that we can't do more, can't do more. Yes, he has new action abilities and techniques in his guilt. Yeah, but that somehow has to be procedurally main. Tained under an AP direction. So the direction's important, not the people.

      After getting the hang of the combat, combo ring doesnt do nearly as much damage as your creativity. But i will say that combo ring was really good way to learn what's possible. You do you though, and enjoy!

    So are you limited to only a four hit sword combo? Or is there a way to increase the number? That’s the one drawback of this game to me

      If you're looking to spam only a single button for a good combo then this isn't the game for you. The game rewards your creativity to whatever combos you find natural to you so don't worry about the combat aspects it's plenty of fun. I suggest searching MAD combos for FF16 if you want to see whatever creative bs people already made.

    I cannot express how much it pains me seeing some reviews complain that the combat is "too simple" and then realizing they aren't ever using parry on purpose or stuff like Rook's Gambit. Yeah guy, it is simple when you smooth brain it. Switch control schemes past A-type and actually try to use all your tools and you'll feel like a mental giant.

      For real some of the stuff you can do in this game is straight up dmc. DmC could also be played 100% smooth brained but that wouldn't be any fun.

      I use type A and never parry on purpose lol. But it also have a dual sense edge with circle and triangle back buttons so that means I can use A type easily. That being said yeah the counters in this game are so sick. I killed svarog using basically titan the entire time by going back and forth between countering with raging fists, which absolutely obliterates his stagger bar, and the normal titanic block ability. Titan is by far my favorite power it’s so damn satisfying to use.

    I cannot for the life of me work out the 'dodge' mechanic, I dodge as they swing and he stands there and takes it, I dodge as the attack hits me, and I get hit.
    I've played Souls/Elden/Sekiro etc, and I this system just doesn't work for me. When you first see the Minotaur, I stood next to it, and only tried to dodge. I couldn't work out the dodge windows even after 20 mins of only trying to dodge - I feel like the game is severely broken in this regard...

      It’s probably late to give you this tip, but equip the cheating precision dodge ring. It will show you where the dodge window is by presenting a QTE.

    Night and day, inns, camping, way more robust open world, characters who the game made you effortlessly care about without it feeling forced.. sweet fishing mini game.. chocobo racing, FF 15 was better to me. It told a more original story as apposed to 16 that just feels like it’s trying SO HARD to be Game Of Thrones and combat that looks and feels way to much like Devil May Cry.

    The combat for FF crisis core feels very “jerky” where the attacks feel very abrupt. Where as FF XV feels very cinematic. Like you’re mostly just watching a flashy animation rather then actively participating in its stylish flow. FF VII remake is kinda like a combination of the 2. But FF XVI combat is quite literally like a “From software” game but you can cancel out of an attack and not need to commit to the animation. Not quite to the degree of a hack and slash but I feel like this FF has the most satisfying “control to visual cue” of all of them.

      If you havnt played strangers of paradise yet, give that one a try. If you like from soft games, youll love SoP. Its basically nioh in final fantasy paint.

    Those who are bored with the combat… definitely a skill issue. These games are all about combos, maximizing your attacks and thinking on the fly. Sure you can mash attack but that’s boring. YOU have to make it exciting by learning the mechanics. What levels up is you as a player. Game’s not going to hold your hand.

    Uh I’m not using the timely accessories but all I do in the game is press square and circle to dodge.I occasionally hold r2 to do special attacks and press triangle for fireballs or after 4 presses of square. this games combat is nowhere near as complex as devil may cry it’s more like Witcher 3 but faster.

      You must be joking. If you are not chaining combos and abilities then fights take so long to finish off. The game also don't consider dash attack as dodge, you don't get the stagger off with it.
      You can get to devil may cry level combo in this game.

      @@etismyname no wonder fights take forever. is there a way to learn combos like devil may cry like from a menu. like in the van in dmc5 it tells you which buttons to press to chain combo and abilities. and you can practice chaining it. Because when I read the description of an ability in ff16 it's telling me to press square four times to use the sword and chain it with triangle to use a fire ability and hold r2 to do a special attack and that's all. I am nearly towards the end of the game about 70 percent done with game. and I know you can use other eikons abilities, but they are the same buttons as the fire abilities.

      @@automitronicbro, you have to use all of your abilities in combination with each other, constantly switching between all 3 eikons and finding the best way to stagger enemies and then hit them with a massive combo. My favorite way to play is a counter play style with titan. His raging fists ability works as a parry and riposte that absolutely tears through enemies stagger bars. And then you can line up moves like gouge, incinerate, blind justice, thunderstorm, and judgement bolt for example to absolutely obliterate their health. That’s how I play anyways. Getting counter attacks off with heatwave and raging fists is extremely fun and satisfying

      @@automitronic There's no Bayonetta or DMC moves list unfortunately so it's all trial and error. Try launching your enemies with Ravage and do some juggling combos or use drop attacks while holding square to charge burning blade. After doing the Sq./Tri. Combo, use P. shift while holding square and hitting the Ravage button to attack, launch the enemy, charge Burning Blade, and then release square when they fall to execute Burning Blade. Use Lunge while an enemy attacks to perry and slow down time. Use Garuda's grabbing claw at 50% stagger then go ham. You really want to use attacks that charges or readies another attack during the move to keep the flow going.

      I hate it💔 Final Fantasy games used to be my favorites, now it's just another arcade action button masher. Producer even said he drew all his inspiration from God of war🙄 I'm trying to slog through this for the story but the gameplay has me bored to tears

      Don't get how people are bored with this combat but don't get bored with turn based. Turn based combat is the most repetitive boring gameplay there is.

      @@transgirl2106 The gameplay is not at all drawn from God of War. Several movesets are completely ripped from Devil May Cry (enemy step, stinger, nero's grab pull, etc.) as the gameplay director worked on DMCV as well, which if you're a fan like me you automatically know their utility and depth of what can be achieved in combat. However the game isn't going to hold your hand to get you to jump cancel or anything fundamental in setting up combos so I can understand why you feel otherwise.

      Unfortunately for u, they might not go back turn-based since DQ is already that for SE. No use wasting resources making two same game with different lore and flavour text.

    worst combat in a ff ever. i hate getting into combat. its so weak and take so long. 1 hit, 4 dodges, 3 hits, 5 dodges, repeat for 10 min for a stagger mob. ive fallen asleep ive got so bored.
