    The high country crossings are nearly always an arc with the shallow part along the arc and the deepest part if you drive in a straight line across.

    I'd question calling all of these "rivers", but clearly there is enough movement to keep the water really clear, a great video.
    Makes me wish my Dad was still around

      Back in December the two I checked out would have been right around hood height, so it was clearly a river then!

      Haunted Stream track a couple hours away from this one has 56 water crossings. You can spend weeks in this area and not get bored, some of the best wheeling and touring in the world.

    Thank you for the nice and fairly easy drive down the river. It was pleasent to see a jeep not blasting high speed through the water.

    This is where you need a hand held radio to talk to your dad from across the other side of the crossing. We normally don't walk those rivers in summer, with most you can see the bottom pretty clearly. Have not been up there this summer though with all the recent rain.

    When I was bit younger (around the time internet was starting) I had 4x4 and did quite a bit of off road driving. When i went to deep waters, at the end of the day, I had to crawl under the car and put some grease into open joints in the drivetrain. It was very smart, I could see water coming out and it saved me lot of problems back then. I don't know how modern 4x4 are, if they need it. But if they need, best investment ever to have grease gun in the car.

    Great video. Awesome scenery and rivers. As for the low gear, it will become easier to shift the more you use it. The first time we shifted ours into low range, it was very hard to do. It's a lot better now. We've done about 40000k now in a bit over 12 months.

    Awesome video! Love that you got your dad out on an adventure like this! Wish there was a track like this close to us. My 2017 JKU was pretty difficult to get into 4 low, the 2020 JT goes in much easier... I found that the key is to stop of flat/level ground to do the switch to 4 low, if it is hard going in roll the vehicle a bit and try again, you will eventually get it.

    Would be cool if Australia had 35x11.50r17(32.8(a OEM tyre size for the Gladiator Rubicon) to 34.8 is within the non engineered limit at a 2 inch limit) as a commonly available tyre size as the Gladiator scraped the long range fuel tank as said by this man called Dan.

    I am not sure if the Jeep has sealed uni joints on the tail shaft.In a Toyota Hi-lux is is recommended to grease them daily if traveling constantly in water.

    Nice video Dan. Now you have a few kilometres under your tyres, what are your honest thoughts about the Gladiator, for the type of touring you are doing? I am a Jeep lover and have owned a number of Wranglers, but haven't driven a Gladiator. Thanks!

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety +1

      No doubt it's better for getting more remote than is possible in a Wrangler. It carries more fuel, more water, bigger kitchen, more food, more gear, etc.
      It also has stacks more power than my old JK Wrangler, and is much, much smoother and quieter.

    Hey Dan so you’ve got some trips under your belt now. Honestly how well is that canvas top doing? How much leaking of Dirt and dust are you getting inside? How bad is it holding heat inside on the hot days

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety +1

      It's been great. Very little dust inside, and it honestly doesn't really get that hot - although I have not seen crazy hot weather because I've been avoiding it as much as practical for Australia.

  • @TheBeatenPaths
    @TheBeatenPaths Před 2 lety

    No one gives you a hard time in Australia about keeping your vehicles out of rivers & streams? It's becoming 'a hot topic' here in North America with the 4x4ers.

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety +1

      It depends entirely on where you are, and the local rules and regulations.

    • @TheBeatenPaths
      @TheBeatenPaths Před 2 lety

      @@TheRoadChoseMe There are no rules and regulations here 'yet', that I know of. Just your own conscience about putting oil & grease and stuff into the water with the trout & other fish. The Ford motor company actually had to change a Bronco TV advertisment showing a Bronco going through a stream because people said it promoted poisoning the water. I'm on the fence about it....I like to 4x4, but I'm also an avid fly fisher.
