GBC Ground Buster III Sport ATV Tire Test Review

  • Walker Fowler’s Pro GNCC Championship Winning Trail Tires the GBC Ground Buster III. Affecting acceleration, braking, cornering precision, stability, and ride quality, picking the right set of tires is the single most cost efficient and impactful performance upgrade you can make on your Sport ATV. No one knows that better than Pro GNCC Champion Walker Fowler, who relies on GBC tires to help him get maximum performance out of his Factory Yamaha YFZ450R.
Walker formerly ran GBC XC Master tires at both ends throughout the season, which we reviewed a few years back. He now runs GBC’s most recently released high-performance rear trail tire, the Ground Buster 3 at most events.
It stands to reason that the tires Walker Fowler relies on to repeatedly reach the top tier of the podium would also be a top choice for anyone looking for the ultimate trail tire for their sport quad.
To test the Pro GNCC champ’s tire setup for ourselves, we met up with cross country racer and test rider Jim Nemacheck and his very patriotic Honda TRX450R at Haspin Acres off-road park in Laurel Indiana, offering the wide variety of terrain needed for a proper evaluation.

It’s great to see sport quad content. I’ve been out of the game for about 15 years and it’s hard to believe that tire companies are still copying the Holeshot after all of these years.

Glad you enjoyed watching it. We have another small sport quad upgrade project in the works and would like to do a lot more of them if these manufacturers would just stop obsessing about $20,000 sales.

i love GBC xc masters on my 86 trx250r . i placed 3rd in points for the season in the LACC . im a little on the light side lol . so if these have even better cornering traction they would be better for lighter riders . im going to give them a try next season to see

I like the looks of those. They remind me of a good ol' set of warn knobbies from the 80's. I gotta 85/6 ATC350x, and I really wanna find a nice broken in smaller set for the back. I'm still running stock size ITP's, and they're too grippy.

@@goldenboygq9 at my skill level there has not been a major difference. Tad bit better cornering and no real loss of traction in mud. I like them for sure. They look good. Idk what the cost is but in my opinion the best bang for your buck is the cst-ambush. I've been running 20×11×9s on my 440ex and they eat up everything. Mud, snow, and hardback. No flats so far and $125 for 2 shipped right to the door.

Why would you run a 2 ply tire in the woods with those heavy-ass tire balls when you could run a 4 or 6 ply and be done with it? I stopped watching when I heard that lol. I know you all understand rotational mass lol, and I never ran beadlocks for the same reason. I’m guessing the race guys run them because they knock the Hell outta one another haha, I’ll never know, they’re crazier than I am.
The West Coast is different, everything has to have the right “look” -in the mountains we just ride it home, buy another wheel lol. You guys know how to spend money to make your equipment look good, I’ll give you that.
