Mama, 1. She said this was her best seller (think about it!) and 2. I think she assumes you know how to crochet so if you listen, she's spelling it out for you.
Let us know how it works out for you. It's a whole new world out there you know? Kids learn from each other and on YT. So when they do a video they do what they have seen.🤷‍♀️

I just have to tell you that I’m so in love with this pattern. I hope you design tons of more hats in the future. That’s the great thing about crochet design. Each year, diff styles change and the great designers (like you) tune into those styles and adapt to them. I’m trying to make one for an older child, like 7 to 12 yrs old. I’m using I Love This Yarn (of course lol) and a 5.5mm Susan Bates inverted hook. All the same counts as the adult hat. Hoping it comes out a good size. I’ll tag ya on Instagram when I’m finished ☺️😉👍🏻👍🏻 Thnks again for being so generous and sharing this 😘 Sande from Jersey 😘

Thank you so much. I have a new favorite pattern for this fall. I was able to make 2 of these today in between house, farm chores and errands. I have a relaxed tension and a small head so next time I may try the child's size for me. Love how quickly this works up. Will look for the regular cap pattern as well. Appreciate you so much!

A great pattern, thank you so much for making this free for all! I’ve made several for family for this Christmas season and they’re such fun to make! So glad I found your channel! Great, detailed instructions, I love that you show us step-by-step. I’m a visual learner for sure and this helped heaps 😊 You mentioned you’d be making a video to show us how to do the closed version of this beanie but I can’t seem to find it on your channel, I’d love to see that video one of these days. Keep up the great content and work!

Hi Sarah I'm so glad you like the pattern. I haven't released a video showing you how to close but they are step-by-step photos in the blog post that goes with this video. There's also lots of closed versions of different baby sizes here on my channel that might be helpful. www.acraftyconcept.com/free-crochet-messy-bun-beanie-pattern/

    And for comment #3 lmao….
When working up the brim, here is yet another tip from a professional:
Work 1 REGULAR sc in both the beginning and ending stitches of every row and only blsc in between. Not only will it be a lot easier to work your base round when beginning the main part of the hat, but it will look a lot neater as well. So (when working the brim), 1 regular sc {in both loops of the stitch}, then work 7 blsc, then end the row with another regular sc {in both loops of the stitch}. ☺️ Trust me, and you’re welcome.

    Also….
THIS IS A HAT SIZED FOR A JUVENILE!!!!
With the number of stitches for the brim and the gauge hook she is using, this hat/beanie will only fit a very small head no matter what. I am 43 years old and have a very small head and this hat is extremely snug even on me so fair warning. WONDERFUL pattern and explanation of the video though, top notch! I myself will be doing this hat/pattern to fit the average size adult noggin and will be adjusting my stitch count. For the brim, you will need increments of 5 rows, and the same for the base stitches for the hat (that being the very first round). You will need an odd number of stitches as to have an even amount of puff stitches.

it all depends on your tension and the yarn you are using. Ive made over 1000 of them exactly like this with no sizing complaints :) If you are using a thinner worsted weight yarn your hat will be smaller.
