what makes Eunhyuk telling the Dreamcatcher members (mainly Sua) to be normal, even funnier is the fact that he's from SuJu (Super Junior) and that group is anything but normal 😂😂😂
My response every time they say it is "This is normal for them!"
@e8604 right 😂😂
@e8604 Eunhyuk is there to escape from SuJu's craziness, it's understandable JHDFLKSJDFHALSKJFH
9:50 DCC did that because the Olympic made some music shows cancelled/un-aired, so before they couldn't promote on tv, they started to went to the shows early
regarding the honorific thing i think you gotta keep in mind that being in this group IS THEIR JOB/WORK so even tho they're close like family, they do need to keep some kind of boundary because they're business side to their relationships is very prevalent as well. On Idol Picnic SuA kind of talked abt why she doesn't let others speak casually
I mean. you word on asian contain more meaning and intention. its not just "you" and "ya" differences. there's a you that literally mean bitch. something u shouldn't say to people older than you.
I think it's outside their dorm. I forgot who but I think I watch a video of them saying that they're a bit less casual (when it comes to formality) outside than inside. Which is understandable tbh cuz I'm like that with some of my staffs (in my previous job). How we act inside office is a bit different/less casual than how we act outside.
At the end Jiu was basically saying "I don't feel confident that I'll perform anything less than the best" which is a roundabout way of saying "I feel confident that I'll perform the best"
Right, a double negative basically.
ironically i think this variety show had the best camera work filming Because than anything else, including music shows. I loved the camera work on this show.
the way they focused gahyeon "choking" jiu was the best, and i was really waiting for something similar from other stage performances
About the honorific system. Its based on the school system and doesn't follow the western calender. Since Handong and Yoohyeon both belong to the year of the rat they both would have been in the same grade in Korea despite Handong being older than her so Yoohyeon doesn't use honorifics. She and Dami are the same age even though Dami is from the year of the ox (younger) but they don't use honorifics. This is the reason why the whole "How old are you?" and "Siyeon is sensitive to banmal" was a thing in the dc office episode for dc mind. You need to know what someone's age is to be able to use the correct honorifics and informal language amongst strangers is frowned upon. That being said, Dc has a large age range and the unnie line trio are older kids which means they'll typically be more traditional and likely to follow honorifics while the younger line is less likely to be as insistent since things became less strict with internet. Dami and Siyeon are both reserved and traditional and you can see that when they also kneel down whenever JiU did in the mafia dance game meanwhile Yoohyeon and Gahyeon are both likely to switch between formal and informal since a) Gahyeon isn't used to it having grown up without older siblings and b) Yoohyeon feels they are all friends and should be allowed to occasionaly skip honorifics. Overall its a sign of respect to use honorifics and speak formally to those older than you, a lot of asian cultures do this, idk about others though.
Also SuA is probably the most sensitive among them when it comes to using honorifics.
yeah that is actually Dami doing the bird noises, it is her specialty
There won't be anyone on earth that won't be fooled by that sound...it's so accurate.
The way of talking between Gahyeon and the other members needs some explaining for non-Koreans to understand what's going on.
Koran has seven (!!!) politeness levels to speak to others (Like Japanese). It's one of the most difficult things to master as a student of the language, even if you're a native.
Five of them are Formal forms (격식체) and two are Informal forms (비격식체). Six of them are Polite (존댓말) and one is Casual (반말). Formal and Polite are two different things! Because, within the two categories, formal and informal speech, there are different speech levels to reflect various degrees of reverence or respect. All these affect the verb endings and even the words you use.
I know, the headache starts settling now...
The Korean language changes significantly on how you address the other person. It's not just about simply adding ~yo (요) in the end or not, to be polite. And the famous Jundemal (존댓말), the polite form students learn about, doesn't have one, but 6 different ways to speak and write! Because there are formal and informal ways to talk and write politely.
*Fortunately, in modern-day Korea, only three speech levels, the most frequent, are used: 합쇼체, 해요체, and 해체* . In short, it's the Formal Polite, Informal Polite and Casual. One Casual and two polite forms. These are the three levels foreigner students are expected to learn, to be polite where needed.
All seven levels are used in historical dramas (사극) that we watch on Netflix or Viki. The uttermost polite formal speech is reserved for a King only, so this isn't used nowadays. The four other levels in the formal speech category are used more frequently than the two in the informal speech category. Note that one of the forms is a Written/Plain form for books, the internet and instructions. But we don't use it to talk to other people.
The formal Korean speech keeps a distance between the people. Culturally, Korea is a Confucian country, giving a very large importance on honoring the age difference or social status. It's so strict, that some young Korean children don't know the names of their parents until much later in their lives!
A husband would probably refer to his spouse as eg "Gayeon's mom" (가현의 엄마) and they would call each other "darling" (자기) in front of their children. So many kids don't get to hear their parent's names until later in life. And a name is considered a very personal thing, and Koreans don't share it easily. In a language that doesn't use direct pronouns, except in the Casual form (반말), this makes things difficult!
I know, the headache gets stronger now, doesn't it...?
Older siblings, however, and older friends, schoolmates, students or colleagues, do call the youngest by their names, while the youngest call them with the super famous Oppa, Unnie, Hyung, Nuna pronouns. But they need to know them, to do this.
Gahyeon didn't have an elder sibling to speak to casually, or semi-politely as she grew up. So she tries to do this to her fellow members, because she considers them to be her sisters.
She tries to get closer with the other members, like she would with members of her own family. it is common for a young adult Millennial Korean person to talk to their mother or elder sister in a mixed manner, in order to bridge the distance that separates them. So she tries to speak casually - in Bammal (반말) - and mix it with the Informal Polite style (해요체), the most usual Jundemal (격식체) form. She alternates this, to indicate her desire to get closer, despite their age difference. Something that is normal for the younger generations, in the last decade.
SuA, Siyeon and the other elder members don't really want Gahyeon to be polite. They don't care about that. They want her to be more formal, because they also have a business relationship, on top of their social lifelong relationship. In this instance, Informal Polite - the ~yo (~요) - would do ok for them. This is what they've learned to do, because the belong to a previous generation.
However, for the time being, Baby Boss Gahyeon is winning and she keeps speaking in the way she does...! And the others have said so many times that they've given up on trying to make her change her ways...
amazing, thank you so much !
once time sua said that even her body can't follow her energy.
If that's true, I hope she doesn't get injured.
f(x), Red Velvet and Dreamcatcher have the most unique Kpop discography. f(x) is the first one to have the most unique concept and discography in Kpop.
The number of times they had to tell SuA to stay still 🤣🤣🤣 these hosts are my favorite. They seem fun and chill. Also... I still wonder how Dreamcatcher will be like on other reality shows like Knowing Bros or Running Man.
yeah hodong and jae suk will really like sua😂
@@zharfanazrul1364 Imagine if Handong teamed up with Kim Jong Kook in Running Man :o
I actually don't know about Dreamcatcher alot but after I watch your reaction to Dreamcatcher I've been insomnia too early💗it's really amazing 😸 btw pls react to aespa weekly idol
OH YES BABY YES !!!
It was Siyeon and Sua on the vlive.
Srsly they keep asking them to act normal in this whole segment but...this is all the normal they can ever be. Everyone knows that.
Thanks for ur reaction
FINALLY.... Thankyou Aaron 🥰🥰🥰
Aaron i always enjoying your reaction about Dreamcatcher
NGL. I feel like crying after that performance. I really wanna see a Dreamcatcher 7 part acapella song
Dami's bird talent is indeed great
I'm surprised the entire video managed to be put up XD
lol I get the honorific formal speech thing since I'm asian. for example, on English there's only one way to say "you" right? but in my place there's 5-6 way or more of saying "you". your "you" choice of word actually affect how people perceive your personality. most asian word actually contain more meaning and intention. there's a "you" for picking fight, scolding, flirting. so yea be careful. the "scolding" language can easily change to "flirting" if you combined it to other type of word. so PLEASE use formal speech if you're not fluent lol.
I guess honorifics are very common among asians tho I think it's more prevalent/ strict among East asian countries.
@@NoName-it4uu I think western see it as strict. but its actually more on complex side rather than strict. and its also more on habit(?). even delinquent use polite language sometimes cause its a habit lol. its not that we're polite, its just our language meaning are abit diffrent. if East Asian speak English you can see we're not as polite as people think we are.
You need to watch SNSD in Weekly Idols or Knowing Brothers
Finallly 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I've been waiting for this reaction . 🥰🥰
thank youu Aaron for this reactionn!!
Thank you so much for this reaction
☺😋❤❤❤
Using honorifics has a lot with respect but it also comes very naturally to us. In my language we have 3 manners of speaking, one's super formal the other one is casual and mostly spoken between families or lovers and the last one is super casual and it's only spoken between friends or to your younger sibling. The last one is also used at times when you're demeaning someone, so you can understand using casual speaking can be a bit tricky because you don't wanna sound like you're cursing at someone. For those of us who use these manners, it comes very naturally to us and we don't really think much of it
1:01:50 JiU meant that she was bad at being bad, as in she's good all the time.
It has been soooo long since Aaron reacted to insomnicsy video lol and I'm craving for that so much(specially dreamcatcher montage serie)
Sua will never ran out of energy. She is the adromeda of the group.
Ah from Idol House: "The energy all the way to Andromeda!"
You need to react to weekly idol with (G)I-dle, it's worth to watch
9:58 They pre release Because on Weekly Idol and made a comeback stage on M Countdown because the following week all the shows were canceled due to the Olympics in Tokyo
Best thing to watch while eating! 😂
8:00 As far as I know, Cho Hye Ryun is one of Korean Comedian who known for her strength beside Comedian Lee Youngja

React to 'Breathe' by Lee hi..The song is written by jonghyun from shinee..I think you will really like the song.
I've just watched 4 minutes and I'm already soo happy
it is normal for countries in asia to use the honorofic word to the elderly ..not only in korea but most asian countries especially east including my country malaysia..we use honorofic even among family members

31:33 Yes, it is truly difficult even for Koreans too.
Older people sometimes use honorifics for intimacy even at first meetings. It used to be natural, but these days, more people are offended by it. Each person has their own line, and everyone has different standards. Therefore, you should pay a lot of attention to what you say depending on the person. Whenever you have a conversation, you have to think about how old this person is, whether this person allowed you to speak honorifics and how close you are to this person. It is very different from English honorifics. This is a very complicated task. It becomes more complicated when many people gather. I sometimes make mistakes and get distracted, so I often think it would be nice if there were no honorifics at all haha.
During starting intro i was really wondering why were you laughing and even replayed it few times to see if i miss a joke or smth, then i came to know why 😂😂✋
please react to more weekly idol episodes, it's fun!! two recommendations: 1. there's an episode which features dreamcatcher siyeon, loona heejin (YOUR BIAS!!) and lovelyz kei 2. loona's episode :) they're both available on CZcams
Your first suggestion was a fun episode. It was neat (and relatively rare) to see a DC member, in this case Siyeon, interacting with other idols. Felt like she made a couple new friends too.
Wow a whole hour!
You should watch them mafia dance BEcause, Thankyou Aaron
They released content a little out of order due to the cancelation of music shows and events during the Olympics. It was either release things a day or 2 earlier than the MV, or a solid week later.
15:12 dude! Then what did you think that was😂
Loved your reaction ❤
Honestly, didn’t expect it at all, but I’m so happy now that I see it. 💜
I can do the same whistle... The way it works is the air goes through the gap of your front teeth and bouncing to the upper lip
we also have an honorific system and certain way of talking to people who are older than us even by an year. For instance I had friends who were older than me by 2 years and I always had A certain way of talking to them with honorific.....its something you naturally do as it has been somthing that is taught as well as observed. But at the same time I have friends younger than me by a year or two who don't use honorifics because I told them not to as opposed to those who are younger by 3 years who use honorifics. but it doesn't make much difference in friendship dynamics because it is just how our society is. The languge being polite or not does not specify our relations. It's understandable for you or others from western countries to not understand because it's not practiced in your culture.
Yes baby yes!
weekly idol with IU please, it's old, but sooo funny and adorable, my favourite episode 😍
The one where "fans" got up in a tizzy about the squeeky hammer game?
I am just love this man
I really like your reaction Aaron because it‘s so real❤️

you might enjoy a new dance variety show call:
Street woman fighter “mnet”. Since there is chaeyeon of izone there
Currently there is two episode with eng sub.
A bunch of female professional/ street dancer competing with each other to see who is the best pro dance crew in south korea.
The only one there that is not a pro dancer is idol- chaeyeon of izone. During the 1 vs 1 freestyle dancer chaeyeon lost a lot. Even though chaeyeon may dance well but during a dance battle the professional dancer has the edge.
aaron u should check out red velvets queendom recording behind the scenes!
it saddens me that you don't like What. Their best song to date. :(
If you don't do Dami's bird sound correctly you'll end up with an itchy feeling on your front teeth and lips.
react to snsd girls generation and red velvet on weekly idol too
Check out chungha (my friend)- it completely flew under everyones radar... i think youll like it
47:40 yeah, I get crucified about it all the time, but What is one of their weaker title tracks. I didn’t like it all that much because it wasn’t a LEEZ/Ollounder track so it felt really off to me.
Funnily enough, I like the Japanese version of What far more than the Korean version and I can’t explain why.
It must be a little annoying to have to act casually to others just because they are older...obviouslly with strangers you don't just disrespect, but with members from your group, that you are together nearly 24/7 for years...idk, it's just a cultural shock, because I wouldn't be able to deal with that for a long time. Here in Brazil we even call our friends names...really bad ones, but know one cares, we just make fun of it, so you can see what an extreme situation mine is from koreans, lol
PLEASE REACT TO AESPA IN WEEKLY IDOL TOO!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏💖❤
