    I am listening to this while I make my first poppet... Which I got inspired to do while reading your book. Because it gave me a "I've been a witch for 20 years and never made a poppet. Wtf?" moment.

    The flower you found in the street is a gift from your spirits. I have a all pink Altar with hearts and flowers. So one day as i was walking a path i walk often i saw a huge beautiful hot pink cloth flower oddly sticking out the side of a building. It is now a very pretty item on my Love Altar.

    Beautiful, I just recently changed mine up and it's kinda got a peachy/pink look to it... when the snake came to me, I kinda wondered why..Wasn't long after I found a stick that resembled a real snake in the woods, that I took home, cleaned it up, and stained it glued some really nice crystals to it and now it sits on my chest and overlooks my bed. But the story to it is that I kept feeling the snake but couldn't figure out why, I started researching them more, then it hit me wisdom and knowledge and got that ah ha moment right when I found the real deal in my upstairs bedroom window..A live one I had no idea I had been sleeping with which somehow crawled in and got between the walls where my window overlooked the main yard/road...Then is when i knew I had made a great connection with the snake...Don't always trust those that seem to be close, (what also had come through when the snake came to me/it taught me a lot about myself with others at the timing it showed up) so when the snake comes, take upon its spiritual call there's always a great reason why it keeps calling, usually, there is a great message to take on and learn from..Just be careful cause they can warn us also...Great vid...

    Thanks Kelly-ann this video was not boring at all, I always really enjoy watching other witches decorate their alters! But what I realized some time ago is that for me personally I like a more minimalistic alter. When I first started playing around with witchy workings and stuff I watched a lot of witches that had packed alters like you have. Alters with a lot of bits and pieces and so I went out and got a lot of lovely things and had a packed alter as well, because I think they look really cool. But I realized, that that is too much for me and it overwhelms me. And it took me a little time to allow myself to follow that instinct and put away everything. And after some days of having a total empty Alter I allowed it to be filled with only the stuff I really needed and wanted. And sometimes that is only a candle, some plants, a salt lamp and a deck of cards that I am using. And I really love it that way! I thought I would share the here and maybe someone can relate to like having a more minimalistic "empty" not empty alter.
    much love

    I love it. I think you should put some of your own art in the frame that needs something in it. I love your art and you might make something with your own power for it. It could be really cool with our workings. It would be a nice balance. I love Medusa so I get the snake thing totally. 🐍🐍🐍

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  Pƙed 3 lety +4

      Oooh some of my own art would be interesting. I also thought about possibly using one of the talismans from my book! There are three illustrations inside the book with words of power connected to them that I really love - I think one of them could be a strong contender. As for the snakes, I literally found some righteous snake earrings a couple of days after filming this and I bought them, and I have been seeing snakes everywhere. I have long had a respect and love for Medusa and hoped we would get closer. Maybe our time is coming..

    I'm about to move into a new home and I'm using the opportunity to change the way I work magick. In this transitional space I'm in, back home in the closet in my parent's house, I'm trying to figure out how I want my practice to look while being much more subdued. This was some nice inspiration for getting back into thinking about revamping my practice! You have such a unique way of working and setting up your alter that I've always found very inspiring, such a difference from the very traditionally aesthetically driven altars I see often. Love your videos!

  • @watcherwriter
    @watcherwriter Pƙed 3 lety +5

    I love the videos that let us "hang out" with you in your space! Today I needed an escape from my own space, so...yeah.
    When an incense cone may or may not have gone out and I'm afraid to touch it with my fingers, I find tiny tongs (the sort meant for adding a sugar cube to one's tea) to be the perfect tool for the job.
    At the risk of sounding like an idiot: How do you identify "fire proof" dishes? If something isn't made of cast iron or labeled as an ashtray, I'm always afraid to try it. Is it really as simple as setting fire to something in/on it and seeing what happens? I have nightmarish visions of exploding ceramic!

I’m in the market for a more permanent altar space, right now I keep all my witchy stuff in an ottoman under my bedroom window so i have to take out whatever I want to use and put it back afterwards so that I can always access the stuff inside. It’s a perfect storage place but I’d love to have a more permanent space eventually!

Keep us posted on how it's working for you putting them in separate spaces, as well as still on your main working altar. Having power jewelry sounds awesome and now I'm going to be on the lookout for a few pieces of my own. I have a couple of rings I made for protection and prosperity that I like to wear. I recently started anointing them with corresponding oils. Also, as a self-harmer (who's been in remission) I totally appreciate the razor blade pendent. It's beautiful and the quote is perfect.

      @@kelly-annmaddox I have a tip for the dust/mess + altar cloth thing! It's something I've done for ages. I get a piece of glass cut for the size of my altar top, then lay the altar cloth (and/or symbols, prayer cards, or anything I want to be visible) under the glass. I can swap out cloths, etc., underneath the glass and they are protected from getting dirty, and I can get dust, ash, wax, oils, or whatever on top of the glass and it cleans right off. You can basically create a collage under it if you want to, and it's nice and safe.

    Love these types of videos! I know it’s very private to you but would love love love to see a spell being performed or a ritual. I think that would be so amazing. I recently had a re-jig of my altar space too. My altars are always very empty at the front because that’s where I like to pull cards and journal etc. The back of the desk is where I have all the little nick nacks and tools. I may have to purchase some cone incense and a holder , my big incense holder does take up quite a lot of room so I think the smaller ones would be really handy. Thank u for sharing 🌛🌝🌜🔼💗

  • @butterflymagicwithhottea9291

    "IF" there was anything interesting, lol. It's ALL wonderful! In particular, I appreciate the RC trinkets you tend to add because I vibe with it. It's curious how I learned that witchcraft and RC must be kept separate. Growing up RC meant not ever having anything witchy because that would be sacrilegious. My adult life has been pagan and witchified but letting go of those RC roots is tough and decidedly, unnecessary. I still pray to St-Antoine de Padou, MĂšre Cabrini, St-Francois d'Assise, AND my cars have always had angels and St-Christophe on the visor or dashboard. When you pulled out St-Christopher, I said "Damn, Kelly Ann vibes with my jam!". Also, I must say that I have always had some disco balls around but it's representative of my vision of deity, really. I dangle them from the ceiling or wall fixtures and never thought to put one on the altar. Some folks talk about deity like a diamond with various facets but that just seems uneven to me. I like for all facets of of deity to mirror the light that surrounds it, with equally divided facets. You have chaplets with crucifixes which is very traditionally RC but crucifixes give me the hibi-gibies. I might as well be praying with a guillotine on my chaplet, or a noose. That's just me, babe. Luv you, Kelly Ann. We all do! Muahs! Thank you for the altar tour.

On top of my secretaire I have a little ancestor altar and an altar for creativity. And then on the walls I have three small shelves, one for each deity that I have a close bond with. The temple space is quite new, so I'm still figuring things out as I go, but I've always loved having an altar and usually change it quite frequently. Loved this little trip along with you, and I am very curious to see your other altar spaces!

    My altar is seasonal on the perifery, with a devotional area for Venus and the center space is a working space

    Loved this. My "altar" is a small area on top of my knicker and sock drawers đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïž Currently dusty with a Brigid candle and some other stuff that doesn't belong there! My beautiful May altar with fresh flowers and a Mary statue doesn't happen for May. Really want to do something more with it.

It makes an appearance in your 2018 altar tour video too. how often do you clean and dust your space tho?? i find it a bit blasphemous to let the dust build up, but also i have chronic fatigue so i can’t handle cleaning out all my witchy nooks and crevices as often as i crave tbh 🙈

    This is making me think that it may be time to freshen up the altar. I haven't had the energy to go upstairs to that space since near the beginning of the pandemic. I put up a couple of shelves as a shrine space in the living room. We will see if this actually happens, or if it is an ADHD fancy of the moment. Lol.

    I also work with Mary but my dark goddess is Hecate/Medusa and funny enough I also split them Mary on the left and Hecate on the right. The women of my family have always been connected to Mary in their Catholicism but then we also have some really strong Southern Italian ancestry and Hecate kind of stuck to me. I feel like my practice revolves around ancestry and ancient vs. traditional. I wonder if my ancestors worshipped in the cult of Hecate and then switched to Mary when Christianity took over. She feels like two faces of the same coin.

      so from my understanding ATM I want to become an solitary eclectic practioner with the hopes of joining or creating my own coven because here in NB focus is mainly wicca from what I gathered. Plus I can't drive ATM so I can't go out of my way to go to things coven related 100% of the time. So yeah that's my path. Now I chose a deity to work under, self dedication with new magical name to introduce myself?
      Should I wait a year and day to self dedicate or wait for a new moon 🌒
      Sorry if this isn't the place to ask these just thought I'd get opinions from as many sources as I can so I can do this right the first time. I want take this seriously and not as a out of a whim or do it and.change my mind.
