  • The most complicated part of the To Hit resolution process (once a hit is secured) is against vehicles and the AFV Destruction table. In this tutorial, I continue the example started in #25 of an American 57L AT gun firing at and hitting a stationary German Stug IIIG in open terrain. What are the steps to determine the results of an AFV hit? I'll show you.

Wow! I've always done the facing wrong. I would have used that as a side hit. I've always used the CA. Great video! Keep up the awesome job Neal!

Thanks! It's fairly close, but it comes into the front CA.

Are we going to see an example of, or a mention of LATW use?

Good question. At this point I'm leaning to no because they use the same process and some just have their own TH table. We'll see.

    Hi Neal,
I think you got the drawing on the map of Target Facing wrong. Although you implement it correct to front Target Facing in your example. But according to your drawing it looks like the AT Gun is shooting in the Side.
The first hex side of the boundaries is correct. As in the RB D3.2. But when you extend the boundaries you do it like CA. Which is a totaly different thing.
You should not confuse Target Facing with CA.

10:34 I can see what you're saying, but it clearly enters a hexside of the front CA that surrounds the vehicle. The CA definition and Target Facing are linked. If you want to imagine the extensions not being drawn, that's okay, but it's mostly irrelevant. The full CAs drawn here were to visually show people how CAs work. Nowhere do I imply that a shot has to originate from within a CA to hit that facing (like bypass).
This is why I have the disclaimer that these are simple examples and people still need to read the rules. If I covered every rule/nuance in the RB my videos would be 16 hours long. 🤣

@@ASLAcademy Yes. You are absolutely right. Your instructions are correct as allways. I enjoy and learn so much from your videos.
It was only the drawing on the map I had problem with.
      Thanks for your work.

Small note: At about 8:00 you said ‘to kill’ when you meant ‘to hit’. It might be worth mentioning somewhere that with the exception of a critical hit, the number rolled for ‘to hit’ has no effect on the ‘to kill’ number. (Other than determining if a ‘to kill’ roll is even required, of course).
