  • Hi Guys here is the new video: How to make an auto cut off 12v battery charger | Updating simple battery charger to auto cut off..from my "Electrical and electronics projects" "E&EP" Channel.
    In this video i have converted a simple charger to an auto cut off 12v battery charger circuit.In this circuit i have used a D882 NPN transistor and 12v relay to move NC contact to NO when battery is fully charged in this way the current not flow through NC to overcharge a buzzer and a green LED indicates full charging mode.First of all we will have to adjust the voltage to battery's desire voltage in which the battery remains charged and then connect the battery to be fully charge. I have updated my old simple charger you can watch that video here: • How to make 12 volt 5 ... and then follow this video.You can make it as you want in casing or simple on a piece of wood.The circuit diagram is in video at 3:50 you can see it it's easy and simple to make your own.
    Components you need:
    *D882 Transistor
    *12v Relay
    *22uf / 16v Capacitor
    *5k Potentiometer
    *Red/Green LED
    *Buzzer / Optional
    *10k,1k and 330 ohm Resistor.

    Upon observing your circuit diagram, it says that when 18v power supply cinnected on it without battery, green led will automatically lit up. Becoz the triggering current of transistor will automatically reached from the power supply. Now, if a discharged battery was connected, the voltage output from power supply will go down till it meet the current level of the battery and by that will cause the truggering level of Q1 to be open.
    That is how i analize your cicuit diagram. But in your actual, green lead not lit up while power supply is ON.

    It really nice but one thing i want to change in this is to increase the charging amp and also control to adjust in this approx 3.5amp to 10amp according to the battery ah. Pls answer me as early as possible. Thanks for this voltage autocut off video.

    Good day Sir,
    I really like your battery charger presentation with alarm sound, can you add the battery digital meter (indicating the voltage and Amp.) attached/mounted to the box and please do it slowly without using the board, (I don't know how to use it) starting from transformer modification of 12v. I don't have knowledge indeed about electronics but i want to create my own battery charger. Thanks you from Philippines.
    Pls. specify all parts needed including the capacity of transformer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, how can you adjust the power supply voltage to the desired battery voltage when in fact the terminals to which the battery is connected is always connected across the supply voltage. Which part in the circuit that creates a voltage divider? thanks

    that would work. anyone building that place the diode across the relay coil in reverse. The spike from coil will pop transistor. please place DC fuse or breaker. on + side

    Can you make a video to make a 24V Battery charger with led, buzzer, and Voltage adjustment Knob and Voltmeter (So, we don't have to connect Multimeter everytime to check the Voltage)

    Hi again. A full battery charged is around 13.5v--13.8v. In my fifty years working with auto-trucks chargin system I never sow a batt reaching 14.0v. Could be one in 10,000 batts.. A good automatic batt charge will stop before the 14.0v and have a timer waiting for the batt to stabilize the charge. A good condition batt will maintein the charge for hours. So charging the batt up to 12.0 volts is not complete and the charger have to get the capability in volts and amps to reach the 13.8 volts. It is any way you guys can work in that timer ? Thanks ! What I do ? Working with hydrogen cells and making 12.0 volts circuits diagram to by pass the on board ECM and get only hidrogen to fueling the engines. I wish to know about electronics.

    There are only 4 resistors in the circuit diagram which you have drawn. But you used 6 resistors in the actual circuit!!!!!! Why??????? Where should the extra two resistors be attached????

      The capacitor helps to smooth out the reference voltage fluctuations, any value will work, but I don't recommend higher capacity than 330 μF because you might run into inrush current problems.

      You should have more then 15 volts at the input of circuit in order adjust to 13v.

      Sir, actually in my circuit red light and green light is lighting all time. When I am connecting with battery and tuning the preset green light goes off but circuit voltage remains constant. Voltage is not increasing and also not decreasing.

    Sir please help me. My circuit is almost done. It's working but except one thing i.e., the relay is turning on and off rapidly until I am connecting battery to the circuit. When I am connecting the battery, the relay is working. If disconnecting it is turning on and off very fast. What is needed to do now?????? Please help me......

      Take a 1n4007 diode and and connect the Cathode of diode to relay's common pin as shown in diagram at 3:50 ses and then give input volts to Anode of diode.{The strip line in diode is cathode and the other side is anode}.

      Once again you should see the circuit diagram to make sure every connection is same as mine one.I didn't do anything except one additional diode as told you about that.
      If again this problem so at this time connect a diode OR resister between relay's coil.
      First try diode then resister.

      There is already a resistor between two points of the coil of relay. Will I again give another resistor. If yes, how much ohm will be needed.

      It sounds like your relay turns on repeatedly, and this is caused by a sudden voltage drop. When you use the battery, there's is no sudden voltage drop because the battery holds charge.
      A large capacitor (2000+ μF) at the output will fix this, and lower output voltage ripple if your power source is a transformer.

      Use IN4007 diode.Connect it to common and coil pin of relay as shown diagram then give input volts to strip line (cathode) of diode which is (input charger volt +18v)

      You can but it will take long to fully charge 32Ah battery.This charger is designed for battery that has maximum 14Ah capacity.
