I really do feel bad for the emperor.. he lived his whole life learning from his evil mother and feeling no love whatsoever. He faced the palace at a young age and never got to enjoy what other young kids did. Ari is lucky sunny is there to be her mother.

Because he is actually a good person just because he had some kind trauma of his parents toxic psycho treatment towards him then gradually he grew with some kind psychical disorder. He is just a soft kind hearted man that wants to love n be loved.

Well, he is bad at apologising bt so was gu jun pyo at first and thought she liked him and he wud allow her to say a hi when they met outside of school in ep2.. he never apologised until lately and nor does the king understand the empress has still not forgiven him coz she doesn't say so...she actually spoke the opposite and no one has ever been mad at him for so long. He just doesn't know... he shud've bt i guess he isn't that bright to know how ppl are feeling...he cudn't judge his mother or wang sik either.. i wish he can truly apologise after realising his mistake...not just to her bt to wang sik too....thats when things will become good for everyone

Guys let's not take for granted how great of an actor Shin Sung Rok is. The writers don't know what to make of his character and I've never seen such an inconsistency in a character before. The reason why people are split between shipping the Emperor and hating him (and those in the middle who love or hate him depending on the episode) is because of inconstant writing. But it only works because of Shin Sun Rok great acting skills. In the hands of a lesser actor we might have another Bel Ami nonsense (I'm not trashing the other actor, he was not given great material to begin with).
