+adamthewoo Hey man, next time you're around Tennessee, there is an abandoned town called Elkmont within the Smokey Mountains park about 30mins from downtown Gatlinburg. Lots of old cabins, a few cemeteries, history, etc. I';ve been up to it twice and to see it all takes a while but if you want to check it out let me know. I'm always down to take a trip out there. I'll buy you a beer or two or four or five as well!
+gooseeoose frabba last time I was in Gatlinburg, I stumbled on an old family cemetery while headings up into the mountain. It was pretty fascinating, there was a grave of a Confederate soldier and I could tell it still got visited regularly.

I'm glad you got to stumble across some history while visiting. There are many old cemeteries through out the park, along with several cabins, foundations, old trails etc, that were left behind from the folks who called the area home until the park was created, forcing them all to move and/or take land leases. Elkmont was actually a retreat for Knoxville, Tn's lawyers, upper class, etc but they were forced to lease their land to the park while still being aloud to return for vacations until the last lease ran out not that long ago. The man who was the driving force behind the park's creation also had a cabin that still stands today along what they call "Millionaire's Row".
I need one of these.

This really looks like a low budget film set. A real home made electric chair wouldnt need a circuit board and those wires are not thick enough to carry that kind of current.
Once I saw that chair, I would've been outta there. Oh who am I kidding, I would never even go near the place ...That's what awesome Adam is for!

I'll add some observations about the "electric chair". The Circuit board although broken appears to have been from an old school TV. They have components that generate High voltage in the kilovolt range (think high tension power line but smaller). On the back you can see the neck board from a CRT, with the wires that would have connected to the flyback transformer (the part that makes high voltage). Normally this part connects to the picture tube of the TV. The wires are small but for handling the high voltage/low amperage they wouldn't need to be very large. As far as being real or fake I haven't a clue, there's too many components broken/missing to make a proper assessment. The "alien tracking device" is a professional monitor, camera control, and audio mixer, albeit they're at least a couple decades old. Given the cheezy cabinet thing they used to hold rack mount components I'd say this could definitely be the remains of a low budget/student film set.
Out of all the crazy abandoned places I've watch from you, this is the most creepy abandoned place I've seen. I immediately jaw dropped after seeing this video.
Maybe an old military training site? They get pretty detailed in their simulations.

Hey, at least it's a recliner so you're comfortable. It's creepy that within the wind at :18 seconds there sounds like a voice saying, "They murdered me!!!" I think who ever made that electric chair called it "The Throne" at 1:23. Murder shack, baby, murder shack, baby yeah, it's a little old place where we can get together. The sign says stay away fools! That's where it's at! What an awesome road trip, you guys. Thanx for exploring. "Get off of me!!!" at 5:22.

I believe you stumbled into a low budget movie set. The smoke in the distance looks like a stunt plane just did a loop trailing smoke and it hadn't faded away yet. Great video as always!
Adam what you found is a Military training Hostage rescue training set up. we have them here in NC, where they do the Robbin Sage training. i am guessing it may have some thing to do with 29 Palms, or one of the other large Military bases in that area.

If it's near the base, it was probably used for military training. When I was in the military(23 years), we built these kinds of scenario facilities so that we could practice attacking them and freeing the 'prisoners,' who were other military guys pretending to be tortured by the 'enemy.' The mock missile may have been used to simulate a SAM (Surface to Air Missile) site. We would sometimes create the scenes using older buildings on the base but we also picked abandoned buildings off the installation just so we didn't become too accustomed to attacking the same place in the same way every time. Sometimes, a specific type of building was used in order to simulate a very specific target. The fact that this location is in the desert suggests to me that they wanted to simulate an arid desert region, as you may find in the Middle East. An added bonus for such a location is that it doesn't freak out the locals when they suddenly hear several automatic weapons and GESs going off (GES stands for Ground Effect Simulator, which are small explosive devices used to simulate grenades and other types of explosives, except that they possess no fragmentation component). In 23 years in the miltary, I'd venture to say I had personally overseen or been involved in the creation of at least two dozen of these simulated camps. When we completed the training, we'd 'sanitize' the area by collecting all UXO (Unexploded Ordinance) and brass left over from small arms fire (which was done using ammunition that made the weapons sound authentic, but contained no bullets). Sanitization prevents civilians from blowing their head off when they find an unexploded GES and decide it looks like something they want to play with,, and also, when people learn that military exercises are going on, they take pictures and movies and put them up on CZcams and such, and the next thing you know, Omar, sitting is his camp halfway around the world, is seeing a really close facsimile of his lovely desert home on CZcams and thinks "Holy shit, I need to beef up security or move the camp!" I'd be willing to bet you that you'd find some spent 7.62 and 5.56 casings lying nearby that was overlooked when they abandoned the training area.

Hooked up properly that could be used as an electric chair, but my guess what you have here good sir is a F-grade movie prop haha lol.

someone was there recently, the graffiti on the wall says "salton 2016" and the lightning bolt kinda fits the theme of the chair. the clamp you saw on the ground is from jumper cables.

That is the most comfortable looking electric chair I've ever seen. It even reclines!
Come to think of it, that control panel could be either from a small, mobile news gathering truck, or a security station. Regardless, it's probably circa early 1980's, as is the rack mount monitor. Expensive equipment in its day. I worked in a Memphis tv station while I was in college (overnight traffic manager, which means I had to watch the broadcast signal and had a control board similar to this).

The tall wooden structure you called a rocket looks like it was being used as a water tower. The white metal tank is a drop tank (fuel tank which hangs under the wing, when it's empty you drop it so you aren't carrying the weight anymore) from a military aircraft, re-purposed as the water tank for this compound.
