Awesome, first one I've seen that someone actually forged one instead of cutting one out of flat blank and just grinding an edge to it. Outstanding job and kudos for going through the process of hammering it out from a block of iron. Impressive 👍👍👍
In Japan, a special steel called Yasugi Specialty Steel is made based on the iron making method of katana. This special steel has the same properties as katana and is hard and elastic, so it is hard to break. This special steel is used in various applications such as cutlery steel, materials for high-end kitchen knives made in Japan, materials for razors, materials for automobile parts, automobile engine parts, and aircraft engine parts.
Greetings from Orange County, California. 👋 That was VERY cool. 👍 I have also seen your other Katana videos. When I win the lottery, which I believe will happen any day now, I intend to look you up and commission you to make me one out of....something. 😁 Thanks for the awesome videos
It holds the clay together so that only the edge of the blade gets hardened and the spine stays flexible. Look up "hamon" as a swordsmithing term and you will find more info.

What does the wrapping in mud do for the harding process? I watch you do that on the other Katana (from a chain), but not on the Long Sword (Also from a chain). By the way, impressive work!
Claying a blade was performed to slow down quenching of the areas of the blade that were heavily clayed. The intention is to cause the edge to quench to full hardness while the back either transforms to equilibrium, soft constituents, or autotemper from retained heat to a softer, tougher microstructure

I couldn't imagine how long it took to draw out that piece of rail road track. That steel aint no slouch, kudos for getting it drawn to shape
I admire all the forging swords
People who admire skills: Great job Bro!
Sword enthusiasts and Traditional Blacksmiths: NOooooooooooo!
Anyways, great video man!
I absolutely admire you guys hammering the whole thing out by hand. It is a lot of hard work. But you absolutely know that already! 👍

You should go watch man at arms that’s a great channel to see some quality blade forging
Such a great job 😍
This guy litterally woke up ome day and thought "I'm gonna make a sword out of a railroad track"
Not really, maybe he saw random hand’s video and got inspired

HI COGRATULATION FROM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC , I LIKE THAT CATANA
Wet grass quenched, nice !
BY THE WAY I LOVE ALL YOUR FORGING SKILLS!!!!
forge a sword in an old way with the old materials and everything they used at the time would make a good video!
How does the quality of all his swords that he makes from various materials compare to the quality/durability of a sword made using the old ways?
that would take more than a fortnight
Great job and good result
wow, amazing 😍😘
Got some talent there 💯 👍
Perfect 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome 👌😎
Now this is a real satisfaction in slaming metal and forging.

My God that must be very hard forgin
Very nice :0
Thats beutiful, i die for one of those
Looks cool but this is just a question are you supposed to put one or two pens in the blade of the hilt?
It’s the best steel!
Absolutely beautiful job, I admire your talent, well done sir. Can you send me a link where to get a sanding machine like you have.
I'll see if I can "find" a trail like this
where did you buy that grinder?
I once heard that railroad tracks were used to make Rifle barrels.
This katakana sword is deadly and sharp. I love his Japanese style sword. Like samurai

Very impressive. But what about the annealing process ? Is it not necessary?

Great work. I hate to be that guy. I didn't think railroad track had enough carbon in it to Harden
👍👍😍😍😍
They forgot the most important part of the sword ,the high carbon edge
How make that?
From silly railroad to Weebcaster. Brilliant!
Nice sword but to me it looks more like a Ninjato Sword as its mostly straight whereas a Katana has more curve on the blade.
katana have a variety of curvature, there is one blade from the muromachi period that is almost straight so the form isn't anything set in stone

This is a beautiful sword. Have you had any feedback from japanese sword makers?

I think by definition a katana needs to have very hard steel forged in between soft steel.
But the sword you made looks beautiful
nah not really, even the japanese used railroad tracks for swordmaking during their occupation of parts of china
katanas are more curved but nice job
Wow nice job!Greetings from Germany 👋
