There was a guy who came into the bike shop i work at who bent his hanger because he stopped, tried to track stand, started fallong, unclipped, hit the pedal while trying to move his foot to the fround, accidentslly clipped back in, and slowly fell to the floor. needless to say, i ride flats.
I learned to ride a BMX as a kid before i got older and graduated to MTB. 20+ years of MTB, i still feel weird about the idea of being attached to the bike. I like being able to bail out if things go bad. Tuck and roll...
My brother won a trackstand competition two days ago with a time of 8:51 and he had his full mtb gear on still. He had to keep his front tire in a 1 foot by 1 foot box
It’s so crashing to see how easy people do such amazing things with their bikes while I got two broken bones and titanium plate in my leg just after attempting to do a manual. At least I live in a country with a general healthcare system so I got surgery for free)
Another great short❗🙂👍 I'm practicing track stands in NYC on my way to work at the red lights! 👈😄 (That first couple of seconds reminded me of the fall of...a well-known public figure...🙃)
Appreciate that man! So glad to hear you are getting the practice in, you are going to be a machine at the trackstand soon!😎 And yes indeed, must be the wobbly knees?😂
I have a nice trials bike that I keep in my living room. Anytime I have a few free moments I practice my track stands in the house, especially when there is a boring video conference going on at work. The practice has done wonders for my track stands when I am out and about on my mountain bike, and the balance practice has also improved my wheelies.
Ayyyy! That's awesome news man! The trackstand really does help your balance and navigating things when you are going slow and need balance! Love that you use it to kill work time😂🫡
Thanks man, appreciate that! Cool, well what's your current experience? Personally, I learned to Mountain Bike on flat pedals for about 2 years, and then transitioned to clip pedals afterwards and have never looked back!🙌🏼 But those first two years learning bike skills wwith flat pedals were invaluable and I would suggest everyone learn on flats for a while to figure out how to control the bike without clips, and to see how the bike is reacting underneath you with flat pedals.
I should have learned this before I went to use clips first time using them I was on the pavement and I now have a cast on my are thanks to human instinct
Yeah man, I broke my wrist when i was young by sticking my arm straight out. So I know how tough it is not getting to ride, hope you get back on the bike soon brother👌😎
Thanks man, I am not 100% sure of the model, message me on my Instagram and Ill send you the QR code on them (It doesnt have the model name on the shoe)
Hey, quick question. For some reason whenever I try to track stand my weight is always shifted over to my left and leaves me in a weird position my whole track stand, is there a way I can fix this
Hey man, are you dropping one crank over the other?🙌 any chance you can send me a video on Instagram of you trying? I would love to send you some feedback there
Genuine question: why would the elbows be a better part to land in rather than your hand? Is it because you can break the hand? Wouldn't landing on the hand absorb more impact through the forearm?
Good question! So landing with straight arm, it's a smaller area hitting the ground first, so it's slightly higher risk of breaking the arm/wrist especially if you lock your arm out. Where if you hold on, your bike, legs and upper body all land at the same time and dissipate some of the force over a bigger area and that means slightly less risk of breaking things (not guaranteed of course), but from my experience in Mountain Biking you never want to break your fall with your arm/wrists 🙌

@@a2bbiking thank you for the response! It’s going to take a lot of practice to beat the urge of extending an arm. I’ve torn apart the palms of my hands countless times from that 😂
Okay . thanks, it's really hard to get a nice mtb in zambia because most of them are Chinese, and the nice ones are all like $6000 for like a $2000 bike, so that's I was asking
bah, i clip in, track stand for days and unclip no problem. the thing i DO hate is not being able to do any "side kick outs" in the air without unclipping and landing out of a pedal....ouch
Lol, not sure what to call it. When you take a jump and turn your bars left or right and you back end comes around in that direction, not into a tabletop or that extreme. But my foot comes unclipped and bam, not a good landing. For tricks I agree, flats are the way to go
Trackstand is probaby the single most useful trick ive learned for mtb
Absolutely agree, it's such a great skill for balance, so under rated, it can improve confidence and balance all around🙌👌

This made me smile, pretty sure all mountain bikers have lived this experience at some stage of their life😂 Flat pedals win medals
Same crocs are by go to but i ride mostly downhill so that isn’t saying much

🎉helpful😀
Ayyy, appreciate that man😎
You can use clipless pedals (clips). But I'll have to admit that they are very prone to unclipping. Hence why they are not recommended.
For sure man! They definitely are😅 But good to know how to practice and use both!
I twisted my leg falling with flats, so good flats con fix your leg very well too)
Nice bike, brilliant skill
Thanks so much my friend😎👊 Appreciate the kind words

I ride clips and it’s the best thing ever lol
Haha yes sir! Once you have ridden clips, it's really hard to back to flats😅
@@a2bbiking yeah I rode my friends dirt jumper and accidentally did a no footer 😂😂😂

i want to do this stuff but my bike just got stolen😭
noooooo! I am so sorry to hear that bro...Hope they find it or you get a new bike asap man, that's the worst feeling
Just pull your foot to the side... Learned that one after 5 minutes with clipless.
Absolutely man! Well done for learning so quick😎👌
its very easy on a track bike
Indeed, I have tried on a track bike before and was surprised by how easy it was😅
Those bars💀
Hahaha😅
Cool video, I'm thinking about something... What I should choose for MTB(enduro and competitions) clips or flat pedals

Finally someone realize that clip pedals are dumb on mtb🤙
To be honest I ride both, I feel like I learn better on flats, but I could never go back to racing with out em😅👌

Nah I don’t use any, I use traditional pedals, best for everything they are

@@a2bbiking ah. It makes sense now. I'm gonna have to intentionally fall over with my bike now to relearn how to fall in style.
Cool man, crashing is a whole art in and of itself😅 But you can prevent broken limbs with small habits like that🙌
I just lean the opposite side to which I'm falling and let my barend hit the pavement
I hate gravity
Yup, gravity can bite you in the butt real fast😅😂
Can this also be considered like a perpetual track stand?
Pretty much man, the idea being is, you should be able to stop & balance for as long as you want to / need to👌
Why keep my hands on the handlebars when falling?

Is it possible to track stand on straight tire not the turning to the right/left tire?
