I think I'm a very empathic person. Everytime I hear this song, I get a bit choked up for some reason. I think the song has a fantastic message. You don't have to agree with other people's decisions, but unless you've walked through life in their shoes, you have no place to judge them.
AMEN!
PREACH!👊✊
FACTS!
I see what you mean, don't judge drunks or drug addicts, it's their life to fuck up, right? Then one day they cross the center line and kill an innocent family in a head on collision....Maybe if if was your family you would be more likely to judge....
@@pulsarlights2825 Jesus Christ dude, the point is not to judge because you don't know what happened to them to get them to that point in their life. Maybe that drug addict lost a friend or family member to a drunk driver and they just lost all will to live. Or they had a shitty childhood and they can't get rid of the memories so they turn to alcohol/drugs. Obviously if they commit a horrendous crime they're going to be judged, literally too.
I had a very powerful personal experience with this song. I was going through an extremely difficult time in my life. I was sitting in my car at probably the lowest I'd been and this song came on. I FELT this song and I understood what it was like to feel deep pain for the first time in my life. In some strange way, this song helped me get going in the right direction because it caused me to acknowledge the pain. This is one of the reasons I love music so much.
This song helped me too ,in similar way.glad I never pulled the trigger, now I have 3 amazing kids and 10 grandkids.music helps clean the soul.stay strong man.have a great day
Glad you are doing well brother. Music is a healer and theres a song for every moment. Hope everything stays up for you.
sorry to hear that my friend, but i wouldn't waste my time with these two they don't read posts.....glad to hear your back on track..GOD BLESS...
Yes my brothers music is healing and I'm glad you found yours. We need y'all here. One love
Music can be uplifting if it has substance. I attached certain songs to certain memories. Helps me remember where I came from and where I am now. Keep on keepin' on! 👍
This whole album was pretty dope. A big change from the "jump around" house of pain days
Complete 180
Heart attacks will do that to you
@@pollabear2000 LOL Exactly.
Getting destroyed by Eminem will do that
I listened to this whole album for a whole year
"You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start" - sadly maybe truest lyrics ever written
Amen!
That is a brutal line..
"Ends" is another epic Everlast track, and deserves a listen after this.
Yes!
I get by is a good one
And "Money (Dollar Bill)".
Yessssss
I’m a young mexican stoner trying to make it out the hood & this 9-5 by doing reaction videos & storytimes on my CZcams channel 🤒
Everlast was the singer for House of pain. He's done some awesome music.
Quite a different sound then jump around
The work he did with La Coka Nostra was awesome too!
Before that his schtick was a "classy" wrapper lol...check out "I got the Knack" if you haven't heard before.
Rapper
Can't ever forget that he also did , Put Your Lights On with Santana.
I live by a simple philosophy: Do what you can, when you can, if you can, the best you can, it is the least one can do. Life is a team sport, nobody makes it alone.
You two are great; Brad is like a miner, digging deep into the tunes for those nuggets of gold and Lex is like a surfer, catching the waves of the music & getting the feel of 'em.
This is beautifully written.
This is honestly a timeless classic and a very original concept. A beautiful and powerful call for empathy. Respect.
In a funny way this song reminds me of Another day in paradise by Phil Collins...
In the Trump era, the call for empathy is more important then ever. Trump's entire Presidency was a realm of cruelty. How evil do you have to be to actually go to court like Trump did to make sure cancer patients are locked out of even being able to PURCHASE health insurance? All the while his charity was stealing from cancer charities.
@@carlgibbons5777 Trump shouldn’t have anything to do with how YOU treat people.
@@GunsmithSid You're right, it shouldn't. But sadly it does. It's mostly a racist cult that promotes conspiracy/cruelty. We are going to call it out until it's gone.
@Pro Me The US No. You love Trump if you are defending him. There is no defense for him at this point. We are going to call it out until it's gone. #AntiDemocracyCult.
I've love the rhythm and tempo and message of this song since it first came out in the 90's. And I've listened to blues artist that dated back to the 20's and 30's, but I don't remember them singing about being homeless.....and staying there. Granted times have changed....but there are plenty of jobs out there available. Especially construction jobs. Inflation kicks everyone's tail....but construction is still a Great paying job. If you can swing a hammer...you have a job.
if this song came out today, everlast a household name. song has become better and better every year since its release.
Everlast IS a household name.
@@kspeed419 eh
Everlast one the legit underrated goat's.
This song was everywhere for a large swath of the 1990s. Such a powerful and profound song, no matter how many times I've heard it.
A song that so many can relate to. So well written. So well performed.
empathic storytelling at its finest
After many years of hearing it on FM radio, I think this is the first time I've ever heard it completely uncensored.
Imo It's preaching compassion for fellow man in opposite of judgement. Great message and song.
Makes me cry! Everytime! Deep, profound, and so sadly true.
This was a brave song for it's time and even now. No one talked about in song nor supported abortion rights and the choice. This was groundbreaking, and the message still fits today's generation.
uhm yeah no not really.... musicians were talking about those things before everlast even called himself everlast... certainly not the first, but doesn't lessen the meaning of the song, though
@@stefanforrer2573 Umm yeah no shit, yet they were not having top songs on radio with them.
Abortion is murder.. the songs words are " then you might know what's it's like to have to choose" she chose to have sex with him .. that's the baby's fault how? Kill the baby cause the dad was a loser? What logic is that... Shame on you!!
@@the-DMZ-guy You missed the entire point of the song. Listen again.
Another good story telling song is P.O.D. “Youth of the nation” but a must is to watch the music video to capture the reality of the lyrics, it hits ball out of the park perfectly.
YES!!!!
I'd only hope that one day they Check out POD!!! Amazing Group!!
Came to say this.
I remember having both of these songs on a mix CD in my first car. It's hard listening to one without thinking of the other, despite genres being fairly different.
I think it's a very underated song
Everlast does a great song with Santana called" Put your lights on" .... Its a vibe for sure! Your interpretation is spot on - empathy all the way. Dont judge until youve walked that same mile in those same shoes.
Excellent song. I wish they'd do that one; it's one of my favorites.
Santana and everlast do another one together that’s also amazing, it’s called Babylon feeling off of the eat at whiteys album.
Love that song.
Man, I haven't heard this song in years...I forgot how great it is. Thanks!
It really is a very good song, that delivers on the musical and lyrical fronts equally well. It shows that you can deliver an intelligent lyric in a very accessible tune.
My wife and I recently went out and handed out bag lunches to the homeless and we say nothing but gratitude. We struggle, but there are others that have it harder.
⚘❤
One of the best songs ever written for my money, a very legit tune, and until you've walked that mile as someone else, PLESE don't judge others! And yes, that wasn't always my own mentality, but to receive grace, you must be willing to give it, and God knows I need it and then some!!!
I saw Everlast with Santana in '00, it was a really good show. He's also known for being the frontman for House of Pain, for which you may know the song "Jump Around."
Yes…Jump Around…classic.
Thank you Brad and Lex.....you gave the song the respect it deserves by simply listening. It is one of the most brutally honest songs ever written and there are many people that would benefit from listening to it. You two keep rocking on and thank you.
Great to see you twos take on joints like this. You are both as real as it gets. Props. Also.... Lex is the cutest thing!
I'm happy to see you reacted to the unedited version. So many unnecessary edits in the video from the PC MTV days. 👍
not really "PC" when it's angry old white xians that made musicians edit the shit out of their music.
@@this.is.a.username haha, right? if anything, those were the non pc days..... the time when you could be overtly racist or sexist on tv just as long as you didn't use any curse words
Just about compassion and understanding. Not right or wrong.
I watched at least 3 reaction vids on this song before yours and you were the first (that I saw) to hit on the empathy angle. That is the sole point of this song.
I see a couple people mentioned that Everlast sang (rapped) for House of Pain, but he started out as a member of Ice-T's 'Syndicate'...
Brad is right about it being a song about Empathy. :) I notice you reacted to Marcy Playground's Sex and Candy the same day. Everlast often warms up to that song :) Will check out that next. The singer was a friend of mine.
Good outlook Brad. Compassion isn't dependent on agreeing or condoning something!
This has been my tune up song for years when playing my guitar 👌🏴
This song was huge on the mainstream rock stations. I really like it. Big difference from his House of Pain days and “Jump Around.”
This is the best song about not passing judgment ever written.
I love this song, it speaks on us as people never knowing what someone is going through 😔
Everlast was in the rap band House Of Pain, they had hits with songs like Jump Around and Shamrocks And Shenanigans, i love that one alot. Boom Shalock Lock Boom!!!!
You should listen to Muse! They are an insane band, amazing instrumentals. I recommend Madness, Stockholm Syndrome, Uprising, and Hysteria
They opened for U2 360 tour . Saw them at the GA dome in Hotlanta. Super awesome band!!!!
Super massive blackhole is one of their's that I love 🤘🤙
@@ra-TH_ yes yes!!! My favs are Knights of Cydonia, uprising AND their cover of Nina Simones’ Feelin’ Good!
The man is a prophet. 👍
If the world was full of people like you Two it'd be a whole lot better place to be ✌️🙏♥️
You 2 were definitely vibing the whole song good tune
That guitar line in the beginning is absolute fire. I seriously love this intro so much
This is a song most can relate to in some form or another. For me I know what its like to lose everything, including home, and be one of those asking for spare change...was homeless for over 4yrs before an opportunity came and gradually got me back on my feet, not 100% but better than nothing. Now I'm married have a family and living life regardless of the struggles still dealing with. And that opportunity that came and helped me... well I've been married to her now for 20yrs and was blessed with 2 kids, both of which are grown and 1 just got married a month ago to her high-school sweet heart.... he's in the Army. Good reaction guys 🙏✌🤟🤘😎🤘
Every time I hear the song "Goosebumps" So much truth spoken in such a short song!
Everybody can relate to this song in one way or another.
More facts in this one song than the entire industry now.
This is real for most of the population. Not too many people care about their neighbor.
I'm just amazed that a person from different era or times can JUST GET MUSIC the way u do lex
The music video has so much more impact if y’all get a chance to watch it. It basically reminds you to be grateful for what you have because there’s always people less fortunate. Loved your reaction! 💜
I like rock, I really do. Still feels good to hear bars over beats on the channel now and then. What a classic!
A lot of great things in this song.. The lyrics are amazing, of course… But the music is fantastic.. That very subtle guitar at the end is wonderful..
I remember I totally loved this when it came out, still do! Also I remember the singer had some kind of beef with Eminem but I dont remember what it was about. Good choice, no one ever reacts to this.
Very good, it puts a real perspective on this life we all live. Cheers!
Empathy song, perfect description Brad.
I love these reaction channels. Seeing them listen to traditional rock and some other stuff, just shows how music speaks on a different level. It's precious in a good way.
Song is such a vibe to me.. ever since the time I was listening to it watching the "lightnin bugs" ahh the good ol days
really love it....so current.
Absolutely beautiful song 🎵
Love this song wow. What a great artist ☘
He does a cover of a song called A Change Is Gonna Come that's pretty heavy.
You guys are my favorite to watch and I don’t watch a lot of reactions. You give a very genuine vibe on your videos. When you guys blow up please don’t change like most others do
I never get tired of this song. A well written song.
Great Comment Brad on having Empathy for others...isn't it better to be merciful than believe we have the authority and approval to judge others....well said!
I have alot OF respect for Everlast's Blues Chops being a musician ,too.. Most of us have seen this song in the course of life. That's why you really know what it's like...🤟🇺🇸🥇🇺🇸🦅✌
*The Music Video bring this song to life*
Love this song. Thanks for reacting :)
i am glad yall reacted to this one, I love to see yall listen to the songs I like.
When this song came on in the car in the 90’s, we turned it up and just bobbed our heads and enjoyed this classic to the fullest. To interesting to learn was same guy who did jump around from house of pain lol
I love playing this song to people after playing them House of Pains "Jump around" and telling them the singer of this song and the rapper of that song are the SAME PERSON. Minds blown.
Jump, Jump , Jump AROUND🤘
Love this Song! I Remember when it came out in the late 90's.
I know a guy back in the day that was listening to this when he T-BONED an 18 wheeler and flew through the windshield and hit the side of the trailer. It was on his cd player when they pulled up.
Don't judge anyone, you never know when you are on the other end. Give people a break.
Been one of my favorite songs since I was 15, I'm almost 43 Fantastic song
I Raised Myself Since I Was 9.Years Old & I've Always Told People That,, You Have To TRULY Know Bad,, Before You Can TRULY Know Good & Let's Just Say,, Bad & I Have Met..Lol
❤❤❤❤❤❤
It blew my mind when House of Pain became Whitey Ford!! Lol
Yall just taking me back to my youth with all this. This was definitely a childhood favorite.
Love the moral of this song. We need more empathy in today’s climate. Great reaction guys 🙋🏻♀️🙌🏼👍🏼👏🏼💜🇨🇦
That's some great guitar work 👌
This is only the second video I've watched of yours but it seems that you both see different ends of spectrums, which is good for giving others different perspectives they might not have considered before. And it could help balance your relationship as well whatever it may be. Much love and blessings to both of you and your connection
Whitey Ford Sings The Blues is one of those albums that hits on every track. Solid.
Often the only thing that sets us apart from others is simply circumstances…the turn of fate…you do everything right and still end up wrong…great reaction!
Love the feel of this song's storyline. I can actually relate without having to walk in their shoes.
Love this song and great reaction!!! For me, this song isn’t about necessarily pushing someone to consider doing something (i.e. - please don’t say “get a job you f¥@kin slob” to someone who looks to be 200 years old and asking you for change 🤷♀️) but rather … consider other people. We are all different and all have different opinions, thoughts, lives and reasons for why we find ourselves in certain situations. And sometimes those situations are difficult and beyond our control. We never know what someone else may be going through. Just because someone is smiling and is pleasant doesn’t mean they aren’t hurting deep down over something we know nothing about. Just be kind … right??? 🤷♀️
Much love to y’all 💞
Brought back memories Public Enemy and Anthrax collab, back in the day.
Everlast is great! "The Ends" is my favorite song. The lead singer was in House of Pain..their song "Jump Around" is an anthem.
Everlast - "I Get By", "White Trash Beautiful", "Even God Don't Know" "Put Your Lights On" w/Santana, & "Black Jesus"
dang i love that grungy voice lol.. and it just gets grungier as he gets older lol❤❤❤❤
Grungy? I hear a smooth deep emotional singer. Grungy? Lol!!
@@metalmellie4371 grungy is not bad by any means... would be like gravel...smokey... like being wrapped in cognac and cigar smoke curled up in a big armchair in a cabin in the woods lol... definitely not a diss
@@metalmellie4371 you obviously have not heard some of his songs when he is older, grungy is definitely a good word to describe it, it's not a criticism, it's just the way his voice sounds and I love it... listen to "I get by" one of his songs from later on in life...
Thanks for the lyric breakdown. Don't always listen to what I hear.
I was hoping you would do this one. It's fun to see you both have your own vibe going, yet you are still moving in sync as it plays. Some strong visuals on the video version really complement the lyrics.
Killer, killer throwback tune. Thanks for doing it. Peace, y'all.
Thx for that shout-out to empathy. Sorely needed right now, and sadly lacking. Great reaction!
Everlast was the main rapper in the group House of Pain. "Jump Around" was the biggest Hip Hop song in the world for a while back in the 90's You guy's know it.
Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin
I came to win, battle me that's a sin
I won't ever slack up, punk you better back up
Try and play the role and yo the whole crew'll act up
Get up, stand up (c'mon!) throw your hands up
If you've got the feeling, jump across the ceiling
Muggs lifts a funk flow, someone's talking junk
Yo I bust him in the eye, and then I'll take the punk's hoe
Feelin', funkin', amps in the trunk and I got more rhymes
Than there's cops at a Dunkin' Donuts shop
Sho' nuff, I got props
From the kids on the hill plus my mom and my pops
I came to get down, I came to get down
So get out your seat and jump around!
Jump around!
Jump around!
Jump around!
Jump up, jump up and get down!
Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump! (Everybody jump)
Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!
Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump! (Everybody jump)
Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!
Jump!
👍 Here's a little something for the effort.
Liking you guys, you are listening to a lot of my favorites. It's like walking thru memories with new friends. New sub.💙💙💙
Lonely Road, Black Jesus, Ends ,I Get Buy, and White Trash Beautiful are all bangers from Everlast
Deep lyrics and great message. Makes you think.
Another great one!
This is a sad, sweet, melodic groove! Love it!
