    Thanks from New Zealand! Just saved me two hundred bucks, I lost my only key. Now I can just take my key barrel in to get a new key cut, instead of the mobile locksmith coming to the truck

    Nice video. Thanks for sharing.If I am permitted to add, a bent ice pick can be very useful tool for removing the plastic clips. simply insert the sharp point between the rod and the "U" shaped plastic clip. A needle nose can also be very helpful for holding the rod/s while inserting them in the plastic clips.The installation of the "E" clip on the lock cylinder was omitted, but I can see it in the following segment.

    Nice vid and instructions! I'd would use the Mark technique for the vapor barrier! Use a sharp razor blade to cut the silicone down the middle, parallel to the vapor barrier carefully, may add an extra minute, but when putting it back together, each half of the silicone around the vapor barrier will stick together perfectly without having to buy more sticky material. Thanks for the great video!!

    There is only one problem with this video, the locks are not keyed alike. Should you not take the old lock and key and get the locks keyed alike before the new one is installed? By the way, was this a power lock? It doesn't look to me that it is because the power lock switch is black. Viewers need to be informed before they attempt any DIY project!

    I think I am having a similar problem, what is the name of the small plastic piece you replaced before you put on the new lock?

    2CarPros. I didn't notice any key lock switch that unlocks all the other doors when you turn the door key. How do you obtain that functionality ?

    OEM parts? Plastic clip and locker?

    Is it true that a worn out piece in the door lock mechanism may be the cause of repeated failure of the outer door handle? The inner handle works fine but the outer handle needs to be replaced for the 2nd time in a year. The nonpower lock is also functional.

    I’m having issues with my 3rd gen 4Runner in regards to the key and lock/unlock button.. the key only unlocks the drivers door and won’t unlock the rest of the doors while inserted in the drivers door and the button on the driver side door panel won’t unlock or lock any of the doors either... is this the fix for that or would be an electrical issue??? Thanks

    so do you now unlock and start the car with different keys?

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  Před 8 lety

      Yes, the only way to keep the same key which is usually worn out anyway is to take it to a locksmith.

      Grab ahold of the metal rod right underneath the yellow clip with some pliers... gently pull and wiggle. Not too hard or you might break door handle.

    • @kevjao267
      @kevjao267 Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah me too. i tried using pliers and still doesnt want to come of. Im scared that if i pull too hard, the yellow plastic holder might break.

    but your left and right door locks will not match, nor will your tailgate lock.
